The War of The War of 1812 was a conflict fought between the United States of America and the British Empire, from June 1812 to February 1815.

In 1812, Britain's Royal Navy was the world's largest with over 600 cruisers in commission and some smaller vessels. Most of these were involved in blockading the French navy and their allies and protecting British trade against French privateers. The Royal Navy still had 85 vessels in American waters, counting all North American and Caribbean waters.

War Pigs

Black Sabbath

Gen'rals gathered in their masses,

Just like witches at black masses

Evil minds that plot destruction,

Sorcerer of death's construction

In the fields the bodies burning,

As the war machine keeps turning

Death and hatred to mankind,

Poisoning their brainwashed minds

Oh Lord yeah

Politicians hide themselves away

They only started the war

Why should they go out to fight?

They leave that role for the poor, yeah

Time will tell on their power minds,

Making war just for fun

Treating people just like pawns in chess,

Wait 'till their judgement day comes, yeah

Now in darkness world stops turning,

Ashes where the bodies burning

No more War Pigs have the power,

Hand of God has struck the hour

Day of judgement, God is calling

On their knees the war pigs crawling,

Begging mercies for their sins

Satan, laughing, spreads his wings

Oh Lord yeah

View of the iconic Alhambra in Granada, Spain from the inconceivably crowded San Nicolas viewpoint, I'm glad I arrived early enough to secure a spot for my tripod, there wasn't even any space for a mosquito at the viewpoint, it was WAR, selfie sticks pushing and shoving everywhere, but few people were actually taking photos, entire families hogged the space just to have a picnic there without even looking at the view..... And this was in the lowest season in the middle of winter, I cannot imagine the pandemonium of the busier months, I stayed there until the blue hour and had enough, I will never go back to this viewpoint, unfortunately it's the best one in Granada for photography. A few more uploads from this spot will come soon.

Located at Mill Pond Meadow in the outskirts of Featherstone is a different war memorial. 353 simple crosses, each representing a member of the local community who didn't return home after the First World War make for a permanent memorial. Each cross has a tree that has been planted at its side. Watching over these memorials is a huge steel War Horse.

The site provides a lovely place to visit, reflect and hope for peace.

The first thing that catches your eye here is the absence of lively groups of students running from one building of the institute to another or sitting on benches between lectures and noisily discussing something... War changes everything...

So just a little test to show how cool a cowl would look like. For me I'll stay with the official cowl but what do you think?

PLEASE COMMENT!

Leave tears in your eyes.....

May the 4th be with you!

May all of you have a happy Star Wars Day!

I also want to thank all of you for the 500 followers, it means a whole lot to me. It seems as if only yesterday I began my exciting journey here on Flickr. I thank you all once again.

God bless you all, and......

May the Force be with you.

Designed by local architect John Ellis, Stonehaven’s landmark War Memorial was unveiled in 1923. It has the deliberate appearance of an ancient ruin, to signify the many shortened and ruined lives caused by the First World War.

With the very late Kiddy to Bridgnorth service 4498 heads along Tenbury wall with a matching rake of teaks, I've never seen many grown men jump up and down having bagged this one in full sun. April 2022.

Camp America Grassington War Week-End

A selection of photos from a trip to Torridon in the North West Highlands of Scotland in early Spring 2023.

Having somewhat exerted myself the previous day, humping ‘the big camera’ around the Loch Maree Mountain Trail, I decided, since it was such a beautiful day, to have a nice gentle stroll down by Loch Coullin.

I, unintentionally, ended up doing a full circuit with the Canon gear again. Ah well, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?

Can you spot the young person swinging from a branch?

"Commander, the time has come. Execute Order Sixty-Six."

"We must move quickly. The Jedi are relentless. If they are not all destroyed, it will be civil war without end."

"Do not hesitate. Show no mercy"

Honestly Order 66 is the saddest part of Star Wars. There was a special bond between the Clone Troopers and their Jedi Generals and they were forced to unwillingly slaughter their brothers in arms.

I was feeling a Star Wars build and this just kinda happened. I wanted to explore new color combos, and I really like the olive green foliage and the dark orange soil. And while I was at it I decided to make this my application to Dark Times.

As previously stated, this is my final build of 2019; my final build of the decade!

The war memorial by the River Trent, Victoria Embankment, by night.

On a whim I went back to Gerty and grabbed a telephoto to 'see what I could see'. This stopped me in my tracks, I felt like a film director in that this scene needed to be put to film so to speak. This shot is of the awesome bridge of the USS Independence and her neighbor the USS Kitty Hawk.

I love this, hope ya'll do too.

Please press 'L' :-)

After the stress of yet another round of confrontation between my country and Iran, I just had to escape — to those places I love, where I can be alone with the universe, in peaceful silence, and admire and photograph the eternal beauty of the night sky.

I set myself a goal: to capture a panorama of the Milky Way over the desert. And maybe, if I’m lucky, catch a bright meteor — a cosmic traveler racing for millions of years through deep space, only to burn in Earth’s atmosphere and leave a glowing trail in my photo.

And it seems I succeeded — if you look closely at the image, you can spot that very trail.

But… it’s not a meteor.

It’s a ballistic missile, launched at Israel from Yemen. Fortunately, it was intercepted and fell outside the country.

While processing the image, I considered removing it.

But I decided to leave it in — because, sadly, it’s part of our Israeli landscape too.

I truly hope that one day, these missiles will stop falling. On Israel. On Ukraine. Anywhere.

Peace for all — not war!
