The Welsh memorial to the fallen of the South African War at the south end of King Edward VII Avenue in Cardiff. This memorial was unveiled by General Sir John French on 20th November 1909. The standing figure is Peace bearing an olive tree. There are two seated figures on either side of the central plinth and that of the woman, on the north-east side, represents "Grief" and holds a wreath in her left hand. This is a photograph of that seated woman
Star Wars Identities is a temporary exhibition which was previously in Australia. This interactive experience allows the visitor to build their own Star Wars story by making choices at various stations using an electronic wristband and headset. I wish I had more time to thoroughly go through each item, but I really enjoyed this exhibit.

A postally unused postcard bearing no publisher's name.
Note J. Robertson's butcher's van in front of one of the houses which was probably driven there for the photograph.
Freuchie is a village in Fife, Scotland, at the foot of the Lomond Hills, and near Falkland. The nearest major town is Glenrothes located 4 miles to the south. The name derives from the Scottish Gaelic, fraoch, meaning heather.

Their names are imperishably inscribed upon the country's roll of honor.
Within this sacred ground rest the remains of a number of soldiers of whom there is a record of forty-eight. All enrolled in Washington's Army during the Revolutionary War. Whose achievements are the priceless heritage of the American people.
Erected by the New Jersey Society Sons of the American Revolution on the 153rd anniversary of the engagements at Lexington and Concord.

The cockpit of the peacemaker is tight, but I'm confident of how it will take the impacts.
Hoping Duke will survive enough time inside.

An unseen war has started on my room
We just happened to come, of course, during a Star Wars Weekend. I was pretty excited, although I've seen it all. Naofumi hadn't, and loved it.
War memorial. Circa 1919. Ashlar, cenotaph with laurel wreaths and a soldier leaning on a bayonet in high relief. Listed grade II.
Detail from the main war memorial at the bottom of Adderley Street, commemorating South African participation in the Great War of 1914-18, Second World war, and the Korean War.
People of varying beliefs staked out their ground to sell their wares...socialists, a sticker guy, etc. Each made their own kind of statement.
Star Wars Night at the Buffalo Bisons Game. Worth every cent of the affordable ticket and trip to Buffalo.
Erez and I attended an advanced screening of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," and a luncheon at the Letterman Digital Arts Center (Lucasfilm campus) on August 9th. Here's the boxed lunch we got, inside a cool "Clone Wars" lunchbox! Note those "Clone Wars" plastic utensils!

On this, the day of President Bush's second inauguration, I post the words of FDR (as seen at the WWII memorial). Mr. Bush, spreading democracy is not about forcing other nations to be like us; instead, it is setting an example that other nations wish to follow. President Roosevelt understood the great cost of war, and praised the people at home for their commitment to a just war. Mr. Bush -- you do not enjoy that same commitment, nor will you be mentioned in the annals of history as one of our more successful presidents. So take your oath of office today -- and remember that you lead an entire nation -- not just 51% of it.
God Bless all the brave United States soldiers.
