Oliver's Wharf: an old, mainly, tea warehouse that was converted to apartments in the early 1970s. On the left of the photo are the two Georgian houses, one on either side of Pier Head – and the filled-in entrance to the Wapping Basin and London (Western) Docks. Centre-left of picture is the Wapping Old Stairs which lead to the foreshore. This view of the north bank is from a Thames Clipper travelling upstream from Canary Wharf to London Bridge.
Wapping Station has been closed since December 22nd 2007 and has been completely rebuilt as part of the East London Line extension project. The new station will officially reopen as part of the London Overground network on Easter Sunday (April 4th). The station was first opened on the 7th December 1869 as the northern terminal to Brunel's famous Thames Tunnel. It feels great to see it shining so bright and proud in the year 2010! Brunel would be quite impressed I think!

I need serious help and practice with night settings... What do I do to get more of a night affect and not so orange? Increase my aperture or shutter speed?
I suppose the best way to learn is to mess around with the setting manually, but I'm still trying to understand how to effect each other...

Brunel’s Thames Tunnel, between Wapping and Rotherhithe, was the first tunnel to be built under a river anywhere in the world. It took eighteen years to complete and opened in 1843. It was described as the ‘eighth wonder of the world’ and introduced methods of tunnelling still used today.
12th March 2010 was the penultimate day that the public will ever be given foot-access to the Brunels’ brilliant construction. I walked it from Rotherhithe to Wapping and back, stepping over the relaid rails of the East London Line, and marvelling.
Entrance to the Hermitage Basin on Wapping High Street with gate posts by Daniel Alexander. The basin was engineered by John Rennie and completed 1811-21 as an extension to London Dock. It was closed in 1909.

Wapping is one of my favourite areas of London. Once a busy dock, when the docks closed much of the area became run-down. Today it is one of the richest parts of London, with the old wharfes now transformed into luxury flats, but unlike many areas of London, the transformation has taken place whilst retaining it's history. The old wharfes are now beautifully restored, and the narrow, winding cobbled streets give the area a lot of character.

Wapping, London.
This was my first London Job. In total there was 13 of us, all Jack the Ripper enthusiasts (or Ripperologists as we are called) Many of them are authors of books.
We walked around the H Division looking at locations of old police stations that were around during the murders in 1888.
