We've had a few days of sun after lots of rain, so I took advantage of the nice weather today to do some cleanup in the native-plant garden. When I was moving rocks to make it easier to rake, I uncovered this alligator lizard, all curled up and asleep. As you can see, she doesn't look too happy with me. But after I took a couple of pictures, I put her back in a nice thick bed of leaves and she burrowed under again. These lizards probably don't truly hibernate, or not deeply anyway, around here, so I'm sure she'll be no worse for the wear after her rude awakening this morning.
been a while I haven't taken self portraiture, was busy a while shoots for others and I actually a bit bored taking pics of my self haha..

I got called into work last week at 4 am. After taking care of business I thought I might head over to a favorite spot to see the sunrise. I don't get up for many sunrises because I don't like to get up that early and our sunsets over the ocean are usually so much better. I tried out my Hasselblad with Fuji Reala 100 film and the long exposure really brought out the colors. I switched to my digital camera a few minutes later and a huge wall of fog engulfed the coast and the lighthouse was no longer visible (see below).
I wish I could remember the company that made her outfit. The jacket, shirt, skirt, & purse all came together in a set. I bought it many years ago at a toy store. They made a bunch of them & they were really cheap. I like them, especially the jackets. There aren't any labels anywhere, so I have no clue.
I spent some time trying to photograph a brood of fledged little owl youngsters that had yet to leave their parents' roost area. One windy day I managed to stalk very close to an individual perched on a low branch, so fast asleep that I had to whistle to wake it up! I thought the series might amuse...
Wake Up is a national campaign in the Maldives aimed at preventing drug abuse and promoting recovery from drug addiction.
Drug abuse is increasing in the Maldives
* Children as young as 9 and even 7 are starting to experiment with dangerous drugs
* The most popular drug in the Maldives – heroin – or brown sugar – is one of the most highly addictive and destructive drugs in the world.
* Drug addiction can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, economic status, or the family they belong to
* Every family is affected by drugs, either directly or indirectly – therefore it is in the interest of each and every one of us to take action.
* We are a small community and when one of us suffers, we all end up suffering.
Wake Up is spearheaded by the National Narcotics Control Bureau (NNCB), the NGO Journey, and UNICEF and sponsored by Dhiraagu. The concepts behind the Wake Up campaign were conceived by a group of 20 Maldivian youth aged between 15 – 22 years old.

This is dedicated to the children and adults who lost their lives in Newtown, Connecticut, may they rest in peace. There are many questions to find out about this crime but the one thing that is known, they were murdered with GUNS. Sorry, I am in tears just thinking about this horrific act.
I don't care what you think about what I am going to say, I HATE GUNS, and many illegal ones in Canada come from the USA.
The United States is the primary source for smuggled firearms or firearms parts entering Canada, due in part to its close proximity, differences in gun control legislation, and a large firearms manufacturing base. PLEASE KEEP THEM SOUTH OF THE BOARDER.
Wakeup America and any other country that feels they need the right to bear arms. There are to many handguns, military type rifles, etc. in the general population.
ATF reports, in 2010 there were 5,459,240 new firearms manufactured in the United States, nearly all (95 percent) for the U.S. market. An additional 3,252,404 firearms were imported into the United States.
According to the FBI Uniform Crime Report, between 2006 and 2010 47,856 people were murdered in the U.S. by firearms, more than TWICE as many as were killed by all other means combined.
Between 9,000 and 10,000 people are murdered each year with guns in the U.S.A.

Well over 500 people gathered in Vero Beach, Florida in deep red Indian River County to speak up on Labor Day. Hundreds of "Workers Over Billionaires" protests were held nationwide on Labor Day 2025, with organizers highlighting extreme wealth inequality and advocating for improved conditions for working-class families. Led by organizations like May Day Strong and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the demonstrations target corporate power and the influence of the ultra-wealthy in politics.
It was a wonderful sunrise over the calm waters of the main channel of Lake Powell near Halls Crossing marina. If I felt any grogginess it soon left as the color and rays of morning appeared!
