This impressive Buck must have been resting in the shade under the boardwalk at Dixon Meadows. I heard something stirring underneath me, I was really surprised when this guy squeezed out. He stared me down for a minute or more but when I moved a little to try avoid the back lighting he took off in a hurry.
I made a wise choice in lodging in Flagstaff, AZ that would not upset my wife, making sure it was not along Route 66 with the noise of passing trains all night. With her tucked away more than 10 miles away, BNSF did not disappoint in the early morning hours at sunrise on October 8, 2004 with fleets of eastbounds.

I meet Natalie at Venice Beach during my lunch hour. She looked cool riding her beach cruiser and I though she would make a great stranger. Natalie is from Indiana and she was visiting California for spring break. After visiting LA and the sunshine, she said she doesn't want to go back home. I had my b&w back loaded on my camera so I just went with it.
This project is definitely a challenge with film. I basically get one shot to get the shot right. Even if everything goes perfect in the camera the photos can get messed up in processing (this has happened). I had a scare where I lost my notebook with all of my information about each stranger. I did find it later but it was a wakeup call to get more organized. I am enjoying this project way more than I imagined. I talk to people that I would normally just pass by. It's funny that the first person that I asked said no to being one of my strangers. I thought that might be a sign. Since then I've had twenty yeses in a row.
