Wint-Its a four letter word. (For those of you who are not Anglos, a four letter word is a bad word. lol) Wint, it sucks the life out of you. Wint, it sucks the colour out of the world. "WINT!!! What is it good for? A-a-a-bsolutely nuthin'." (Apologies to Edwin Starr.)

The Full Story

I've been wanting for a long time to plan and carry out my own mission of a gorgeous waterfall from a far away land. This was very important for me to do, something that I'm wanting to learn. I made a few mistakes, but have learned a lot about a mission like this. This was originally supposed to be a secret mission just for myself. Of course I couldn't keep my mouth shut so I blabbered, and even invited a couple of people. Sol Duc Falls has been in my mind for a long time.

To start, I had my 1:30am wakeup call and took off for Point Defiance Park in Tacoma. I got me a cloudy sunrise. I kept seeing the occasional sun rays break through, so I make a stop at a small park on the other side of the Hood Canal Floating Bridge. The sunrays were fading fast, so I didn't get too much as far as shots go. I did get to see clams spitting water six feet in the air. I will say the view in this area of the Olympic range is breathtaking.

I'm getting low on gas, so I see signs pointing to a gas station. I turn and follow the signs to Port Ludlow. Unfortunately, that Chevron station is a little hidden so I ended up driving around on fumes for 45 minutes before finding the dang thing. I then continued on and made my way to Highway 101, the Olympic Highway. The views are just so gorgeous and jaw dropping along here. When I get to Port Angeles, I miss the turnoff, and it takes me 10 minutes before I caught on to that. So I turn around and make my way back to the highway turnoff.

I finally make it to Sol Duc Road, and was so happy I finally made it here. I started my hike down the short trail and come across this amazing cascade. I wanted to stop, but there was already a photog making his way up so I head to the falls instead. I'm glad I did, because as soon as I am in view of the falls I run into Seattle Miles just on her way back from shooting it. She was in the forest by herself with a can of bear spray. Instant Flickr hookup. She text little m:) and Vinny, so my secret mission was no longer secret. We talk for a bit, then she heads back to the cascade while I go get me a Sol Duc Falls shot. I then make my way back to that cascade and ran into that photog leaving. Dene was shooting below the bridge, so I went shooting above it. After we were done, I follow her to Marymere Falls, another falls that was on my list.

We are both tired at this point, so Dene suggest staying at a hotel in Forks. She calls around and finds good rates at Forks Hotel. We got rooms right next door to each other. Little did I know there are vampires in that area. We go get dinner, then crash for a little while. Dene then takes me to 2nd Beach. It was cloudy, and right at high tide, but I was really intrigued with the sea stacks. I was happy anyway.

We called it a night and decided on Ruby Beach for a sunrise. Unfortunately, it was pouring like crazy then, so Dene decides to call off the sunrise and sleep in. I was in for sleeping in. I got up a little later and let Dene know I was taking off. By the time I made it to Ruby Beach, the rain had stopped so I made my way down to check it out. I got my Ruby Beach.

I finally made it back home, during the early afternoon and went shooting with Lynn and Larissa that evening. When they saw me, all I was, was smiles. What a great, full weekend. Thanks Dene for an awesome random adventure.

Have A Happy Waterfall Wednesday Everybody!

I'm wanting to go back, badly.

I have taken this pic out of my window... It was early morning I saw this bird sitting on the tree and chirping... It's always good to be surrounded by beautiful nature. Isn't it? I reckon UK is one of that kind. Then it's shooting time, I shot this image.

TBH this isn't the original image I have modified the Colour Vibration and darkness to this image which gave me this beautiful picture. Keep trying with the options - is what I would say!!! Just play around...

Despite the agressive looks there was nothing to worry about: this wild dog was just yawning as part of its pre-hunt wakeup ritual...
