A long weekend away

191104: After the Gris demonstration I have for the umpteenth time rummaged out out my ancient gouache colors and had a look which of them are still working. Surprisingly most of them were still good, only very few were dried up. By the way, the price tags (in DM!) were still attached to many of them. On some there is an imprint at the top right (3-93, 01-93). I am very sure that this is a month and year. So Im must have bought the colors in 1993 - that's consistent with my student days, for which I had bought them. After 26 years I think it's ok when one or the other tube has dried out.

191104: Nach der Gris-Vorführung habe ich zum ich-weiß-nicht-wievielten Mal meine uralten Gouache-Farben herausgekramt und geguckt, welche noch funktionieren. Erstaunlicherweise waren die meisten noch gut, nur sehr wenige waren eingetrocknet. An vielen klebten übrigens noch die Preisschilder (in DM!). Auf einigen ist oben rechts ein Aufdruck (3-93, 01-93). Ich bin mir sehr sicher, dass das eine Monats- und Jahresangabe ist. Demzufolge habe ich die Farben im Jahr 1993 gekauft - das haut auch mit meinem Studium hin, wofür ich sie gekauft hatte. Heute kostet so eine Tube etwa 5,50 Euro. Vor 26 Jahren umgerechnet in Euro 2,45. Das macht eine Preissteigerung von 224%. Auch wenn's OK ist, wenn nach 26 Jahren die eine oder andere Tube eingetrocknet ist, ist es trotzdem schade, denn die abgebildeten Farben gibt es größtenteils nicht mehr.

A poem found somewhere or other, I can't remember now. I believe credit is given on the bottom of the page somewhere. The skull made of naked bodies was just too cool. The top right corner has a leaf from my favorite tree in my yard. Pastels, magazine cuttings, clippings, watercolor, crayon, watercolor crayons, sharpie, metallic markers.

Kaila and Hannah hang by the dumpster, the best place to get cell reception. Lolo wears the scarf we brought all the way from Kolkata. Danielle tells us about trying to be affectionate with the kids after they grow up. Isa waits for Jared to bring a bucket of water from the hot tub so she can flush.

I gave Robert my last chocolate Santa Claus and a superhero card. He had participated in an ultra run (50km) and I thought he might need a bit of chocolate on his return.

alcohol ink experimentations

January 8, 2019: Robert's 14-year-old electric kettle broke down late last year and he fished out an ancient immersion heater from his grandparents. I expressed concern because the immersion heater does not turn off by itself. Robert, however, thought he was getting along very well with this device. Until the immersion heater exploded one day.

8. Januar 2019: Roberts 14 Jahre alter Wasserkocher war Ende letzten Jahres kaputtgegangen, und er kramte einen uralten Tauchsieder von seinen Großeltern hervor. Ich meldete Bedenken an, weil der Tauchsieder sich nicht von alleine abschaltet. Er war jedoch der Meinung, er käme mit dem Teil wirklich SUPER klar Bis der Tauchsieder eines Tages explodierte.
