p. 4 Eating lunch at Gariahat Market: chicken roll recommended by a couple from Kolkata that we met at home in Seattle during a Hanukah party. Best-tasting lassi in the world. A mini-bus ride to Fairly Place. I made faces at a truckload of children along the way.
p.5 Buying train tickets where they called numbers out of order. Attending the weekly gathering of queers to meet some locals and remembering all the people I made eye contact with during the course of the day. Some Hindi/Bangla words.
January 13, 2019 The weather was not great, but we went for a walk anyway. The cliff has suffered quite a bit under the storm!
January 14, 2019 screwed-up day. The root-treated tooth received a new plastic filling. The dentist did not want to give me an injection because the tooth is dead. Unfortunately, I am so sensitive to pain that I found it terrible anyway. No idea if there was any residual sensitivity in the root-treated tooth or if the neighboring teeth did not like the treatment. For me it was awful.

13. Januar 2019 Das Wetter war zwar nicht so toll, aber wir waren trotzdem spazieren. Die Steilküste hat unter dem Sturm ziemlich gelitten!
14. Januar 2019 Scheißtag. Der wurzelbehandelte Zahn erhielt eine neue Kunststoffüllung. Der Zahnarzt wollte mir keine Spritze geben, weil der Zahn ja tot ist. Ich bin aber leider so schmerzempfindlich, dass ich es trotzdem furchtbar fand. Keine Ahnung, ob es eine Restempflindlichkeit in dem wurzelbehandelten Zahn war oder ob die Nachbarzähne die Behandlung nicht mochten. Ich fand es furchtbar.

This clock belonged to my great-aunt, who gave it to my grandpa, who gave it to me about 15 years ago. It was just a plastic clock, but I enjoyed it. A few years ago it got wet and I dried it out and straightened out the clock face, and it started working again. This time when it fell off top of the medicine cabinet, where I had unwisely put it, barely missing my husband's head, it broke in parts. Of course, I had to save the face for my journal. Those are Modigliani's eyes peeking out.
In creating a journal page celebrating my cat's birthday, I realized that the final product definitely falls under the Sketchbook challenge February theme of "opposites."

The pain is wearing on me. Today I couldn't focus on work, so I took a pain killer and played with some polaroid cameras. I used some of the photos in this spread.
I found this pic a long time ago and saved it as inspiration (I don't remember who's art it is but if it is yours, let me know...it's so beautiful.)

Nick learns how to play poker (and blackjack) from Lolo. The elderly woman waiting outside Wal-Mart tells everybody who pulls up what the situation is with the power outage. Jimmy gets a call from a friend that Obama just declared Ohio a disaster area. The shopping list we brought with us before discovering that the stores were closed. Power returns, and with it, water—the mad rush to shower and use the toilets. Repeating what somebody said after leaving a stench behind in a McDonald's bathroom on the road trip up from FL.

This spread was done in response to a crazy dream I had. I was inside a warehouse, looking for something and ended up in the upstairs of this warehouse where I found boxes and boxes of books. All the books were destroyed by water damage and the smell of mold and mildew was choking me. I was so enraged with how these books were treated. As I looked up there was the owner of the warehouse standing there laughing at me, mocking my sadness and despair at how these books were treated. As he turned to leave, I rushed up angrily, wanting to hurt him and suddenly the books were collapsing on me. I was in an avalanche of books. I woke up in such a panic and the first thing that popped into my mind was "The Scream" by Edvard Munch.
191102: On November 2nd gris030.de was at @boesner_deutschland in Glinde. @reginasielk and I had arranged to meet there and had a lot of fun. I found Gris' statement "Watercolor is the cat of painting - it always has it's own head" very pretty. And funny: After Gris had praised the Meeeeeegablack (Designer's Gouache Ivory Black from @schmincke_official) in the highest tones, all black tubes were sold out in no time.

191102: Am 2. November war gris030.de bei @boesner_deutschland in Glinde. @reginasielk und ich hatten uns dort verabredet und hatten viel Spaß. Ich fand das Statement von Gris "Aquarell ist die Katze der Malerei - sie hat immer ihren eigenen Kopf" sehr hübsch. Und lustig: Nachdem Gris das Meeeeeegaschwarz (Designer‘s Gouache Elfenbeinschwarz von @schmincke_official) in den höchsten Tönen angepriesen hatte, waren alle schwarzen Tuben in Windeseile ausverkauft. Am 29.11.2019 von 14:00 bis 18:00 ist Gris übrigens nochmal in Glinde.

190929: In Kiel, the design days were in the old botanical garden. On Sunday, the Kiel Urban Sketcher met and received a goodie bag from Hugo Hamann. It was very rainy, and my friend with her two children and I were lucky enough to sit under the tent of @velostyle.kiel!

January 4, 2019: crap. A molar is annoying me for some time. Now a root canal treatment was due. Not my favorite activity!

3. Januar 2019: Es war ein toller Himmel, aber klirrend kalt auf meinem Weg zur Arbeit. Ich habe zum erstem Mal meine neongelbe Fahrradtasche ausprobiert und komme gut damit klar!
4. Januar 2019: Mist. Ein Backenzahn ärgert mich seit einiger Zeit. Nun war eine Wurzelbehandlung fällig. Nicht meine Lieblingsbeschäftigung!
