Two-page spread from my Visual Journal - I am not an artist, but make rough sketches and stick in computer scans.
This book was included in the Visual Journals exhibition at Abecedarian Gallery in Denver Colorado in 2011.
I've been working in three journals lately, this my main journal, a circle journal and a doll journal. It's leaving me feeling a bit splintered. I seem to like having all my eggs in one basket when it comes to journaling.
After much thought about January's theme for the Sketchbook Challenge, I decided to stop all the thinking and just get to doing...this is the result.
Watercolor pencil & Micron pens in Moleskine...

This is a spread I did about my what I learned from making my destructive and constructive self portraits about my book.
Another year has come and gone! Happy Birthday to me and my sister Karen who is nine years younger. Fortunately, we were able to celebrate together at Mom's house, since Karen bravely drove down from Jacksonville with the kids for the afternoon. I just can't believe my sister is getting so old!!!! ha ha!!!
Ink, pencil, watercolor and pastel in my leather journal.
Decorated outside and inside covers of my journal from the Strathmore Visual Journal online series. Looking foward to filling it with more art!

Another excellent Mary Ann Moss class: Full Tilt Boogie! Her Paris journal has haunted me, so I knew eventually I'd succumb to taking this class ;)
Acrylic, crayon, marker, & ballpoint pen
(I know the background of my journal pics are really messy, but this is how I work and I'm photographing them right at my work area.) :)
This was one of my least favorite backgrounds, but somehow it seems to work. I think I'm beginning to see the benefit of NOT creating a bunch of background pages ahead of time, because this one and the last one in particular really clashed with what I wanted to journal about that day. I'm learning...
191028: Recently I visited the dentist because a small part of the wisdom tooth had to be repaired. It wasn't bad at all, but when it was over, the dentist told me that air had entered the tissue. I asked what that would mean - if I had a hamster cheek now? He said, "Yes." I said, "You're kidding me, right?" But w hen I looked in the mirror, I noticed that he was right. I looked like a hamster collecting winter supplies.
