I visited the Texas Advanced Computing Center, home of the Ranger super-computing cluster. It's currently the 8th most powerful in the world. This was the smaller of two high resolution viz walls used to display everything from brain cell structures to hurricanes and galaxies. Serious hardware.

Dorothy Ashby - Beyond There "Something From The Radio" This is a very rare various artists compilation promo only cassette that was produced in 1998. It was originally a radio show that was broadcast in Germany and it has a Hip Hop, Jazz and Rhythm and Blues format. It features the Dorothy Ashby song "It's A Minor Thing" from the 1958 Dorothy Ashby and Frank Wess record album "In A Minor Groove"

A map of the area around Seattle. Intersections are color-coded according to the number of outbound streets. Blue for 4, and red for 3. I made this map in search of streetgrid "rifts" - lines along which two different street grids clash. Instead, at this scale, the map acts to highlight a kind of street grid layout popular with Victorians - a well-connected grid. Most strikingly the map lifts out the nuclei of small towns long ago swallowed by suburbia.
