'Kintsukuroi is the general concept of highlighting or emphasizing imperfections, visualizing mends and seams as an additive or an area to celebrate or focus on, rather than absence or missing pieces.'

Nefekalum's fab new materials tattoo, Medusa's Gaze, reminded me a lot of the Japanese art of Kintsuku - especially with the gold in the gaps of the cracks. I added cinphul's carnal headpiece [I turned it upside down for a different look] and completed the entire outfit with various pieces for that otherworldly Mage look. Yes, the diet is going well...

When the light of day crosses with the evening dark, it is a moment of sheer magic. As an observer you are aware of a transition and can see the change that is occurring. It lasts for little more than an instant and for me, represents the passing of time. That instant that lies between the future and the past we term the present. Except that it is visualized through light.

The tree in the forefront caught my attention and how the light shone on one side giving it great dimension. It sits in that transition point where light and dark mingle and further represents the present. I do enjoy attempting to tell a story in my work, and this one is no exception.

When I saw this I wasn't sure what it was or what it represented as workers were finishing the installation. Since then I've learned that it represents data visualization it reflects the global impact of food production and consumption on the environment. Part of the "Around The Table" exhibit at the New York Botanical Garden. I still don't understand it but it's nice to look at.

I'm still trying to find the sweet spot, where serenity and beauty intersect. I think I'm getting close.

When things get tough, I like to visualize a place where serenity reigns supreme. You can currently find me here.

I have seen this shot done a hundred times and wanted to give it a try. It was not as easy as it looks! Getting a ring to stand in a book and getting the right shadow is a bit tricky. I also wanted to find a page in the book that enhanced the image and I think I found one...:)

Gathered yesterday with a group of other flickr group members (Newcastle Sundance) for a sunrise meet at Merewether NSW.

We were rewarded with a beautiful sunrise; give that the forecast was far less promising (it was supposed to be rainy and strong winds - they arrived later in the afternnon!)

Time to get back to my series of candid portraits, "Akiba Window 2017". Once again, I plan to post five images in succession.

#6 (1/5)

(If viewing on a PC, I highly recommend pressing "L" to view in Lightboard mode with a black background.)

I've created a music visualization tool that turns music, in the form of MIDI files, into organic, flowing images using particle swarm algorithms. Each note generates particles that spiral outward based on pitch and timing, creating unique visual "fingerprints" for different musical styles. Simple, repeated melodies show beautiful cyclical patterns with repeating waves, while complex polyrhythms and chromatic harmony create chaotic, scattered patterns. The visualization essentially performs a topological analysis of music structure - revealing at a glance whether a piece is periodic and tonal versus aperiodic and chromatic. This is the Theme from the Godfather.

I was astounded by Bill Rankin's map of Chicago's racial and ethnic divides and wanted to see what other cities looked like mapped the same way. To match his map, Red is White, Blue is Black, Green is Asian, Orange is Hispanic, Gray is Other, and each dot is 25 people. Data from Census 2000. Base map © OpenStreetMap, CC-BY-SA

There is currently an interesting light art sculpture on display in front of the city hall of San Jose, California. The Sonic Runway is a corridor of lights that visualizes the speed of sound. The installation consists of a series of concentric rings, each lined with 277 addressable LEDs. Live audio input is analyzed and converted into a variety of intricate patterns that race down the corridor at the speed of sound (about 343 m/sec).

Standing at the front of the Runway, you can see the beats of the music rippling away from you. As you walk down the length, no matter where you are, the sound and the light are in sync. Looking back from the far end, you can see the sound coming at you, hearing the beat just as the pattern reaches you.

This art was initially on display at Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada.

I processed a balanced and a photographic HDR photo from a RAW exposure, merged them selectively, carefully adjusted the curves, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate your critical feedback.

A BIG "THANK YOU" TO THE MODERN IMPRESSIONISTS GROUP FOR VOTING FOR ME IN THE ""WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE, BUT NO DROPLETS" CONTEST. THIS

IS AWSOME!

This is an apparition that momentarily appeared in the sky over Nova Scotia, a portal to a higher spiritual dimension of reality. Or so I wish. Actually, it's a photo of an image on the computer monitor, an animated visual from the Milkdrop visualization software program associated with Winamp.

Today in my Ideation class, our teacher brought up how, just as I wouldn't be qualified to code an actual working program that we work on, engineers are not qualified to manipulate and create visual data like I do.

And that makes me feel pretty special.

This Time Zero is a trooper. It folded up inside the camera and somehow I managed to get it out without killing it, but the yellow bend works well with the wheat blur I was hiding behind.
