Best sleepy face I could find. :/ Vig made to test out my custom coffee pot. I might be able to finally make the other vig today considering I'm behind one. 167

I just finished reading Huck Finn but considering I saw a vig of that book recently I decided to make one of Tom Sawyer instead. I wish people were this gullible in real life.189

An 8 x 8 vignette of a fantasy city scene, inhabited by both humans and merfolk.

The idea here is that the city has an underwater part and an above-water part, with a bunch of floating platforms at sea level that shift with the tide, and ladders leading to the more permanent above-water parts of the city.

In this scene, a crab-diver mermaid is greeting a fisherman on the floating part. In the background you can see the ladder which would lead to the upper parts of the city. Underwater there is a merfolk dwelling, with some decorative coral out front.

I really liked how this turned out. I'm not sure why... Probably the posing. I also don't know what this move is called slide kick? Slide tackle? 253

Made very quickly. I'm busy. Please comment and fave. 9

I'm proud of the toilet. The sink however is my least favorite thing in the vignette. I didn't know how else to pull it off.

This is a drawing I did for a Bridal magazine, very much inspired by the work of French illustrator, Raymond Peynet.

To see how much the Pentax-DA 16-45mm F4.0 ED/AL vignettes on the full frame, I mount it on the Pentax MX.

Instead to use a film, I choose a more direct approach: a piece of tracing paper taped on the back of the camera (that is, more or less, the way a $7000 large format camera works).

Then, keeping the MX on B pose, I took this photo with the Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 50/2.8 EX DG macro lens. Not a easy focusing, also because the 16-45 was stuck at f:22 and it was hard to see the vignette even with a lot of light.

To be able to shoot a white paper at 25 cm from the lens (if I move it farther a 50x80 cm sheet wasn't enough to fill the image) I used the Philips P32GTC flash at full power, so close to the paper that the light was uneven.

As you can see, it is possible to take square shots 24x24 mm, and the angle covered is astounding, like a 10 mm on an APS-C camera.

I think I'll try again... but with a film in the camera and the Manfrotto under it!

The Dholak (Punjabi: ਢੋਲਕ, Devnagari: ढोलक in Suriname and Holland dhool) is a North Indian, Pakistani and Nepalese double-headed hand-drum Madal. Its treble skin is stitched with thread on an iron ring, similar to East Asian Janggu or Shime-daiko drums. This puts the skin into high tension before it is strung.

Though the dholak is mainly a folk instrument, lacking the exact tuning necessity and playing techniques Bol of the tabla or the pakhawaj, it is widely used in qawwali, kirtan and Bhangra and various styles of North Indian folk and (also South Indian) film music. It was formerly used in classical dances. The drum is either played on the player's lap or, while standing, slung from the shoulder or waist or pressed down with one knee while sitting on the floor.

Perhaps the most characteristic rhythm played on the "dhol" is a quick double-dotted figure that may be counted in rhythmic solfege as "ONE -tah and -tah TWO -tah and -tah THREE-E (rest on 'and') -TAH, FOUR AND" or simply a long string of double-dotted notes, over which the bass side is used for improvisation.

No post-processing of vignetting added to this photo. I found one flower in the foreground and centered it with the three in the background for an interesting reverse shadow effect. Probably one of my favorites taken on Labor Day at Chicago's Botanical Garden.

Rose portraiture may not have been in the intended uses when this lens was designed, but it does do a striking job!

I'm in the mood for some ice cream. 84

Ugh. I'm getting old. I placed an all around circular vignette filter effect by editing with Photoscape here and as I don't have any strobes yet, aimed my adjustable desk lamp towards my face.

Monophobia is the fear of being alone.

Today I was very grateful for the relationship I have with my husband. We had one of those days where it seems everything was going wrong. Our clothes dryer broke down, irreparable. Our hot water heater shorted out, dead. We discovered our van had been broken into, GPS unit missing. His parents house had a window shot out with a BB gun. My husband attempted a trip to store to start the repairs, and ended up with a salesman so pushy he walked out with nothing instead.

And yet, at the end of the day, here we are, still in love, and making out behind a book. (Seriously, we completely missed the camera taking the last shot. . . )
