The Dholak (Punjabi: ਢੋਲਕ, Devnagari: ढोलक in Suriname and Holland dhool) is a North Indian, Pakistani and Nepalese double-headed hand-drum Madal. Its treble skin is stitched with thread on an iron ring, similar to East Asian Janggu or Shime-daiko drums. This puts the skin into high tension before it is strung.
Though the dholak is mainly a folk instrument, lacking the exact tuning necessity and playing techniques Bol of the tabla or the pakhawaj, it is widely used in qawwali, kirtan and Bhangra and various styles of North Indian folk and (also South Indian) film music. It was formerly used in classical dances. The drum is either played on the player's lap or, while standing, slung from the shoulder or waist or pressed down with one knee while sitting on the floor.
Perhaps the most characteristic rhythm played on the "dhol" is a quick double-dotted figure that may be counted in rhythmic solfege as "ONE -tah and -tah TWO -tah and -tah THREE-E (rest on 'and') -TAH, FOUR AND" or simply a long string of double-dotted notes, over which the bass side is used for improvisation.
Tom was a body builder until he decided to give it up and pig out on his favorite treats. Quite the bad idea.
I have no time to build today. (School!!!) 312
No post-processing of vignetting added to this photo. I found one flower in the foreground and centered it with the three in the background for an interesting reverse shadow effect. Probably one of my favorites taken on Labor Day at Chicago's Botanical Garden.
Rose portraiture may not have been in the intended uses when this lens was designed, but it does do a striking job!

Ugh. I'm getting old. I placed an all around circular vignette filter effect by editing with Photoscape here and as I don't have any strobes yet, aimed my adjustable desk lamp towards my face.

(I have two copies of this cabinet card photo in my collection)
I hate it when you finish a moc and while you're carrying it drop it and it shatters into a million pieces.

I don't like building depressing mocs, or at least a lot of them. But I could not think of anything else to make. Also I'm kind of depressed. Please comment and fave. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZIJhQwi9xA 115

Vignette inspired by the Coruscant scenes in Andor and brutalist architecture.
Also a further experiment with brick built shadows using flat silver & dark bluish grey
Built for @JakobKaiserMOCs custom works contest, intended for Dedra Meero
Thanks to Brock's bricks for all the flat silver parts.
I dislike brutalist architecture from a idealogical and beauty standpoint, but it can look cool :P

Day sixty-eight: This is a photo of an espresso cup in Jamie's kitchen. I've done practically nothing all day apart from drink tea and watch House...and take some photos. I like the effect on this, (it's an add on for photoshop, kinda makes it lomo style!) I'm tired. Cba to write any more.
Le pare brise du Berliet GBK blanc est à proximité et en parfait état, proprement démonté. Il subsiste sur celui ci une vignette de 1986 soit certainement la date de son abandon.
I wanted to use the skiing minifig for a vig... so I did. Got two lego sets plus three target giftcards. (including the lego one =)) Pics will be uploaded in a couple of days. 278
