Lava Vent Aerial — Though difficult to photograph, aerial views showed that this open vent was but a small window into a large, hot cavity beneath Puʻu ʻŌʻō's northeast flank in Hawaii (taken June 16th). Inside, streams of lava from an unseen source (or sources) closer to the crater rim (visible at lower right) were cascading toward the upper left into unknown depths. This view, looking almost straight down, shows the surface of one of these lava streams through the open vent. The ground around this entire area is sunken, corroded, and unstable, and may someday collapse to form a pit.

I don't recommend, way too crowded.
At some point it looked like heavy traffic in a very busy city.
Minneriya National Park (Sinhala: මින්නේරිය ජාතික වනෝද්යානය, romanized: Minnēriya Jātika Vanōdyānaya; Tamil: மின்னேரியா தேசிய வனம், romanized: Miṉṉēriyā Tēciya Vaṉam) is a national park in North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The area was designated as a national park on 12 August 1997, having been originally declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 1938.
The reason for declaring the area as protected is to protect the catchment of Minneriya tank and the wildlife of the surrounding area. The tank is of historical importance, having been built by King Mahasen in third century AD. The park is a dry season feeding ground for the elephant population dwelling in forests of Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Trincomalee districts. The park earned revenue of Rs. 10.7 million in the six months ending in August 2009. Along with Kaudulla and Girithale, Minneriya forms one of the 70 Important Bird Areas (IBAs) of Sri Lanka. The park is situated 182 kilometres (113 mi) from Colombo.

The red-vented bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) is a member of the bulbul family of passerines. It is a resident breeder across the Indian subcontinent, including Sri Lanka extending east to Burma and parts of Bhutan and Nepal.

Vergogna,Vergogna,Assassini!!!
Così il popolo di Palermo accolse le autorità davanti al Palazzo di Giustizia di Palermo nel giorno
dei funerali di Giovanni Falcone,sua moglie Francesca Morvillo e i tre agenti della scorta,
Vito Schifani, Rocco Dicillo, Antonio Montinaro.
Quel giorno la Repubblica Italiana è morta a Palermo,colpita dagli sputi,dagli insulti,dai cori
"ASSASSINI e MAFIOSI",è morta davanti alla vergogna di tanti magistrati (non corrotti),
di poliziotti che con la loro scorta danno protezione e sfamano i loro figli e di tanta gente
onesta. Il tricolore che scolorisce sulle tante lacrime di quelle cinque bare messe in fila,il
cappello blu per i tre agenti della scorta e in più la toga rossa per Giovanni Falcone e Francesca
Morvillo.
Lacrime scaturite non dalla rabbia o dalla vergogna,ma lacrime di indifferenza,lacrime che
vogliono urlare l'innocenza di milioni di italiani pronti a sfidare i potenti della nostra
repubblica.
Le urla :"Andate via, via di qui. Sono i nostri morti, non i vostri. Andate via di qui. Tornate a
Roma, tornate alle vostre tangenti"

cordoglio nazionale e della parata delle varie amministrazioni (comunali,provinciali e regionali)
fino a quelle più alte dello stato,dove tutti con le loro cravatte e i loro vestiti ricorderanno
con parole toccanti il ricordo di uomini che volevano cambiare le sorti del nostro paese.

Leica M9 + a borrowed Voigtlander 35mm f/1.4 Nokton. I love the look of vented lens hoods as on this lens. Although the design is entirely practical (in order to reduce finder blockage) it does have an aesthetic value as well, for me at least!

This one taken from Artist point (here), very late in the evening. I used long shutter speeds and a tripod to capture these. I am very impressed with the way it turned out especially considering the fact that it is almost night fall. Flowing below is the Yellowstone river.
The description near the point: Mineral stains mark the sites of hot springs and steam vents in the canyon walls. For thousands of years, upwardly percolating fluids have altered the chemistry of the rocks, turning them yellow, red, white and pink.
From the rim, the bright patches of color are the most visible evidence of hot spots. Puffs of steam, visible on all but the warmest days of summer, mark areas of ongoing thermal activity in the canyon.
The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone Park was created some 600,000 years ago, when huge volcanic eruptions occurred in the area, emptying a large underground magma chamber. In minutes, volcanic debris spread for thousands of square miles, causing the “roof” of the magma chamber to collapse into a giant caldera (canyon) 30 miles wide and 45 miles long. -source: www.yellowstonepark.com
The colors in the canyon are also a result of hydrothermal alteration. The rhyolite in the canyon contains a variety of different iron compounds. When the old geyser basin was active, the "cooking" of the rock caused chemical alterations in these iron compounds. Exposure to the elements caused the rocks to change colors. The rocks are oxidizing; in effect, the canyon is rusting. The colors indicate the presence or absence of water in the individual iron compounds. Most of the yellows in the canyon are the result of iron present in the rock rather than, as many people think, sulfur.
