Not all ideas are good ideas and even the powerful and experimented Kuat Drive Yards (KDY) engineers can fail utterly. The AT-AC or All Terrain Armored Crawler is a perfect example of one of these false good ideas.
While the supremacy of the AT-AT on the field was not to be demonstrated anymore, particularly after the crushing imperial victory on Hoth, the Imperial Army still complained about the AT-AT expensive cost per unit and its highly demanding maintenance.
KDY engineered went back to their plans and after a few months, they proposed the AT-AC. The concept was quite simple, starting from the successful AT-AT, they replaced the costly maintenance-intensive articulated legs by continuous track systems.
When presenting the AT-AC to the Imperial Army, KDY was proud to claim that it was significantly less expensive than the original AT-AT, that it required only one third of the AT-AT maintenance time, while still retaining the same firepower and robust protection.
Unfortunately, the first field deployments quickly demonstrated all weaknesses of the AT-AC. Because of its great armor and protection, it was heavy and because it was heavy, it was really slow when crawling, its speed approaching ridiculous levels when the landscape was not ideal. The second issue comes from the change of height. While crawling on the ground, the AT-AC was no more inspiring fear but also found itself very limited in its fire coverage ability.
As consequence, the limited number of assembled prototypes have been assigned to 3rd class garrisons on planets with limited local technological civilizations. Surprisingly, the troopers reported only positive feedback about their AT-AC. These were offering comfortable, reliable and well protected transportation and the lack of agility was not a real issue when battling primitive tribes and species. It is even rumored that some COMPNOR officers would have confessed that with AT-AC on Endor instead of AT-ST, the rebellion (not to mention the despised Ewoks) would never had won.
One last remark about the AT-AC. According to several concurring sources, it would have been nicknamed Crawling Armored Transport (C.A.T.) among the troops. COMPNOR supposes that it may related to some kind of resemblance to an animal on one of the remote planets where the AT-AC operates.
Disclaimer: the above is 100% fiction.
Utterly unmistakable orange bird with a zebra-striped wings, a Chinese fan of a crest (usually held closed, but often raised just after landing), and a rapier of a bill. Favors semiopen habitats such as heathland, farmland, orchards, grassy lawns, where it feeds on the ground, probing with its long bill for insects. Flight fast and fairly direct, with rather deep wingbeats. Unlikely to be confused, but flight pattern and round wings may loosely resemble that of woodpeckers; note far longer and thinner bill. Song is a distinctive “hoopoopoo.”
The utterly exquisite chlorophyll-lacking form of the (beautiful in its own right) violet helleborine. The books say that lacking chlorophyll it cannot photosynthesise, but I suspect that some of the red pigments that presumably contribute to the pink colouration must be carotenoids or similar, and therefore capable of photosynthesis. This would make sense given the greenish light on the forest floor, although much of its nutrition is undoubtedly provided willingly or otherwise by symbiotically-associated fungi. The location was very kindly supplied confidentially by an anonymous provider!
Utterly breathtaking. I must live here.

A great place to sit and reflect. Grassi Lakes on a Saturday morning before most of the hikers arrive.
How utterly gorgeous is this orange flower? So vibrant even on what had been a very grey, cloudy day. Just poking through a garden fence to brighten my morning walk to work, had to stop for a moment to admire it and take a quick pic with the phone.
The utterly magnificent Mirage 2000D flown superbly by the pilots of the Armee de l'Air at RIAT 2018. Probably my last upload of a Mirage this year. Vive La France !
Very simple, but there is just something that appeals to me about the colours and light. A couple of tiny waterdoplets on a tiny bird feather (in my kitchen, LOL). Makes me think of a winter scene with a delicate, snow-covered branch.
Finally got out for a very short walk this afternoon, to test my knees after landing very heavily on them last Tuesday, when I tried to jump across a small creek. Have stayed home the last four days to give them a chance to recover, so it was good to get a bit of fresh air today. Saw one of the few American Robins that overwinter in the city, too, which was a treat. It was the first Robin I'd seen this year. Nothing worth keeping as far as photos go : )

This is how I will always remember Switzerland; tranquil and utterly beautiful. I know there are many places in the world which are described as stunning, but rarely in my opinion does a place come close to being this perfect. It’s not a surprise really that its beauty transcends borders, every traveller, novice or bold, wants to pay this land a visit. And if you ask me everyone should, it’s got something for everyone, and if nothing interests you, just get a hot cuppa and look out of your window. You might see something that will never leave you.
This is my last photograph of Switzerland for a while. I really want to put up more but I made a promise to myself to cover more destinations and I am pressed for time. Hope you have enjoyed my Alpine Adventure.
Moths are of course utterly harmless. There is nothing on them that can inflict even the slightest damage on anything. Despite this, my boss think they are scary and his comment on this one which is a male featherd gothic (Tholera decimalis), was that it looks "nasty". What do you think?
HWW! I just liked the compositional interplay of angles and light, tied to reality by the shuttered window. One wonders why those living here did not want to let in this beautiful, summer mid-morning light. Maybe they were outdoors someplace, enjoying it!

Utterly unsharp but funny experiment I have taped my webcam on the long stick and used my mac remote to shot the photo, I think I'll not repeat this with my camera.
Utterly delightful, very busy bees - I just wish we had them in S. Yorks.
Every lavender bush I saw from Thames Ditton to Lewisham had at least one on it.
A view from the sky over the southeast wing of Dublin shows a scene that has not only changed but changed utterly! We haven't visited the "Monkey" Morgan Collection for some time and this is a cracker of a shot to show us just how interesting they can be. I'm curious about the apparent running track on the bottom right - Shelbourne Park perhaps?

out in the middle of this vast landscape, with absolutely no one else for miles and miles, AND with not only a stone fire ring (out of the picture on the right) but also a little stone bench to sit on and a GIANT stone table, all made from the nearby rocks. and what a view!!!!
A portrait of the utterly superb Fatoumata Diawara. I first came across her when she was a backing singer to Oumou Sangare at WOMAD 2009. She stood out like a beacon on stage then...such a great smile...and showing obvious joy in performing.
This is from her gig with Cuban pianist Roberto Fonseca at WOMAD last year.

Just utterly precious. Need i say more?
Well, the face is really sweet, and i love those little paws!
When we visited this utterly charming Tea Room, there had been serious flooding earlier in the season leaving the bank and riverbed in shambles.
So... I used the Generative Fill in Photoshop to repair the damage in this photo.
I realize that AI in photography is a contentious topic, but my view (currently) is that it is just another tool, and if I use it in any significant way I will be up front about it, and have no guilt for doing so.

it's been utterly fruitless, searching for a shot today, weather is rubbish so I had to look for a thing, and this is not how you approach taking photos, "you" in this instance is "me" , you as "you" may well be approaching this thing totally different, in my case I don't look for a thing, I wait in ambush for the thing to come to me, waiting in ambush may well take form of walking, driving or sitting on a sofa or whatever but still, so me looking for a thing was a project bound to fail, and it did, all shots taken I disliked and I just have to pick one I dislike less intensely than others,
and it just so happens that "autumn leaf stuck in the dangly thing" seems to become an annual thing, I am sure there was similar sort of thing about a year ago ..
and I wanted to play myself out with Aimee Mann for no other reason than I listened to her today at work and she is one of my all time favourites and once I start playing her I can't stop for a bit and while browsing through clips and watching her outstanding Patient Zero I thought "hell, I wonder how old is she" and what I found doesn't make any sense to me, it doesn't make any sense in any known universe , Aimee Mann is going to be 60 this year, this is plain stupid and has to be .. i don't know what .. something has to be done about it ... it is just outright wrong. Some people are not allowed to change their age , Aimee is one of them, she has to always be 35 or something

Reputedly Wales' most ancient wood, this wonderful location in North Pembrokeshire's Preseli Hills makes you feel that you are entering a kind of Arthurian legend, old gnarled oaks amidst piles of rocks encrusted with moss and lichen. Utterly mysterious and magical.
This is an utterly unintentional optical illusion. It appears that the centre of the image stands up but it is, in fact, a small 'crater'.
The image is of a 20mm square part of a Cuttlefish I found on Skar Beach, port Talbot.
I t has a small indentation that I suspect is the result of some burrowing parasite. The item had been on the beach long enough for there to be algae growing & thus highlighting the contours in the original shell growth.

Acte 3.
Daisie watched as the male figure turned around, her quick eyes spying him quickly stuffing a letter into his pocket .
He faced her grinning and all too familiar ( and decidedly welcomed) grin.
Utterly Gobsmacked, Daisie stood frozen for a second before her lustful reactions fully kicked in!
“David!!!” She cried scurrying to his arms , falling into a needful embrace!
But something was not right. David was too rigid, cold ,and hesitating!
As she looked up into his face, Daisie knew something was not quite right.
“Dais ,” David said pulling away from her...
“I,I met someone ...” he admitted, his voice trailing off as he looked around the room.
Spying Spooky cat walking out on the patio he spoke , to himself, as he watched.
“I see the scoundrel is still in fit form, must be lovely to be a cat, confident and never repentant!”
“David what are you saying !” Daisie wailed at him in questioning disbelief.
He turned back to Daisie who stood looking, cat holding onto his own tongue as she tried hard to read into David’s hazel eyes!”
Finally after a few anguishing seconds of muted silence he spoke :
Dais, I was coming here to tell you, even wrote a letter and was going to leave it here for you to find, the coward that I am for not facing you.
Tears were streaming down both thier faces, glistening in the pale light of the moonlit room
But then, I came here, to this cottage, to this room where we have been together so many times and I realized I was home, that my home, is with you my darling
“My lord David!” Exclaimed Daisie , please dont, I , I lo...”
But she couldn’t finish, standing there dejected and feeling partially rejected!”
“Forgive me, please my luv!” David said looking as miserable as a hungry kitten...
Daisie flew to him..
They embrace and hug passionately.
Then slowly, still embracing, they began to dance to the music still playing out from the gramophone.

Two hours later, all had been said that could be said between the two as their romance had been engagingly rekindled like never before.
Both of the sweethearts were now quite sitting close to another on the love seat staring out onto the desolate patio crisscrossed with the thin black shadows from the branches of the surrounding trees..
As Spooky walked in regally from outside through the still open door, David broke the long standing silence..
He took in breath as if just remembering something..not really wanting the moment to end, but curious as to a question he wished answered.
Daisie felt this and waited, expectantly, but when David spoke, was surprised by the topic.
“Bye the bye luv, I saw something odd in the old cemetery in the hollow at the bottom of your hill”
“ odd , in what manner ?” Daisie asked .
“ looked like A man in black , slinking suspiciously about !”
“Silly ninny!” Daisie said endearingly like she was talking to a beloved child.
“If he was in the cemetary, that probably was our local ghost Craig Abbott.
I know I’ve told you about him, the highway man who was hung from a tree there after robbing a lady’s coach. I think he is still looking for fair young maids to rob, so I’ve heard tell.”
“Thought he was carrying something glittery. “ David admitted, “But I still see you have your jewels he said lifting her necklace. So he didn’t take them !” He added
“Silly goose!” Daisie gently teased. “He’s a ghost , can’t properly take mine or any other ladies jewels, now very well could he?”
Daisie added “It would ‘ave to be a re’al highwayman to do that luv, and ain’t any been around these parts for a few long years now!”
David grins lustily as he ponders a thought.
“
Maybe we should take a walk outside tonight, give your ghostly highwayman Craig a tidbit to be nostalgic about my luv?”
“Whatever for sir?” Daisie asked knowing full well what he was up to..
For there were the games David liked to play, adventuresome ones that just drew one in heart and soul , some made up on the spur of the moment, like this one was now !
And if he was up to playing one now, there was the proof in the pudding that her old David was back and things between them were absolutely right as a warm springs rain!
She rose and taking his hand lifted him up from the couch.
“Come with me then my Highwayman..” She said, with the devils own look reflected in her green eyes.
As they headed out onto the shadow draped patio leading towards the woods, Spooky cat slipped out behind them and after watching the pair, recognized that by their their antics, seen all too many times before, he wasn’t getting fed anytime soon by this lot.
Spooky sighed deeply to himself in the manner of a bored yawn, and glancing back for a second at the lovestruck pair, turned and haughtily meandered off down to his favorite hunting spot within the the ancient cemeterygrounds located at the bottom of the hollow.
And at that moment, in that very cemetery, now lit by a full moon; a midnight black figure, shrouded in dark shadows, moved in and out of the white weathered tombstones. In his pale white hands something quite glittery was dangling down.
As he walked, quite somberly along a well treaded path, , he was, as always, all too silently alone on his ancient yearning quest .
The end
Happy Halloween 🎃
