Civita di Bagnoregio è un piccolo paese in provincia di Viterbo ed è in realtà costituito da due distinti centri abitati. Civita è su una collina accessibile solo tramite un lungo ponte. Una volta, Civita è la comunità più grande e Bagnoregio il satellite. Oggi, Civita ha solo circa 14 residenti, tanto da essere soprannominata "la città morta". Inoltre la città subisce l'erosione costante delle rocce vulcaniche sulla quale si erge. Civita è una città medievale, quasi del tutto intatto dal Rinascimento. (La facciata della chiesa fu rimaneggiata nel Rinascimento, ma la città è comunque del tutto medievale.) Nonostante il suo soprannome, durante la stagione turistica, Civita ferve di turisti. Una leggenda narra che il nome Bagnoregio sia stato dato alla citta’ dal re longobardo Desiderio dopo che costui era stato miracolosamente curato dalle acque termali di questa zona.
Civita di Bagnoregio is a small Italian hill town in the province of Viterbo, region of Lazio, in central Italy and it is actually two remote towns. Civita is on a hill accessible only by a long stone walkway that begins at the end of the road from neighboring Bagnoregio. Once, Civita was the larger community and Bagnoregio the satellite. Today, Civita has only about 14 year-round residents, so few that Civita is nicknamed "the Dead City." However the town suffers constant erosion of its volcanic rock into the valley below. Civita is a charming medieval city, almost utterly untouched by the Renaissance. (The facade of the church was remodeled during the Renaissance, but the city is otherwise entirely medieval.) Despite its nickname, during the tourist season, Civita bustles with day trippers. The History of Civita and Bagnoregio links each to other and the legend wants that Longobardi's king Desiderio named the city Bagnoregium after he was there to cure serious disease with local thermal water (Bagnoregio is a word composed by bagno (means: bath) and regio (regal, king)).

An utterly idyllic setting for a farm in North Iceland we passed by on our way to Siglufjordur. The fjords of Iceland's Northern coast all still wore a heavy coat of snow and ice when we cruised there in May, but the Spring sunshine would add wonderful light and colour to the scenes.

A fresh, cold Spring morning at Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon with the landscape teaming with migratory birds who had just returned to Iceland from their hibernating grounds. It is this kind of crisp, ice-cold yet sunny winter weather that makes one feel so utterly alive and happy!
Utterly amazed, the tree looks at us humans in this late november.

I was utterly amazed at noticing this homestead and farm in Southeast Iceland, being situated right in front of a mighty glacier tongue descending from Breiðamerkurjökull glacier if my map orientation is right. Anyway, to choose such location for your farm speaks of guts and bravery :)
European Robin

I was seated and for some reason I looked behind me to see this Robin fluttering inches above my head. It briefly landed in my hair ( I still have some) and then it came to the ground about my feet ...utterly delightful! When I eventually got up to go I saw the robin perched in the late winter light and a distant brick wall was glowing in the light too...so I took a couple of shots...as any photographer would.

I'm kinda obsessed with these wings by Aii which I can't resist wearing every so often, but then once you try a demo you'll see why too, the quality is top notch. There's a hella lot of eyes here which is pretty much one of the oldest forms of symbolism still in active use and once representing either good luck or the gods keeping a beady eye on you. Fabulous to see., The Short eared owl most regularly seen flying about in early morning or late afternoon., it's always a wildlife photographer's delight to to see one of these. Decided to give Walton's new coat a bit of an airing to get rid of the moths accumulating in my inventory cave. His texturing of the wool is very nicely done considering the obvious limitations of pixels. I'm a history nerd so I appreciate the work he's put in to give it a correct overall feel of a gentleman's suit. At time of writing this coat is NOT available for Ladies, but I shall assume that its a wip and will eventually be so.
I added Nefekalum's The Noble materials mask for a bit of sparkle - its subtle but it catches the light beautifully. Perfect for those secret societies or...*cough* more intimate moments...waggles eyebrows

I'm not saying what I'm insisting on. But its nefarious.
It is views like these that stir my soul and have me long to return to the utterly stunning island of Skye.
To me, Skye is the UK's Iceland. So full of mesmorising beauty and such a wide variety of subjects to capture on camera from waterfalls, hauntingly beautiful coastline, stunning lochs, black sandy volcanic beaches, dominating mountains, and even a coral beach (believe it or not but there's only the one on the island).
I defy anyone to spend five days on the island and not return home feeling like a part of them is missing having been left behind in Scotland. It affected me when I first visited Skye way back in 2008 and it still does regardless as to how many times I return. That's when you know you have not only witnessed a place but truly experienced it too.
Skye will forever be my favourite place in the UK to visit.

The two utterly spoiled felines who delighted in Cat TV, particularly Hermione on the right. She would spend hours crouched watching the birds. Here they've taken a break from cleaning each other to look at the intruder with the camera. They're on a little stand next to the desk chair which offers them an alternative place to curl up, in other words, something other than the keyboard or my daughter's lap.

Another beautiful bird that I have seen quite frequently. This was the first time, though, that I had seen it with the crest raised and so I quickly took three photos before it flew off again. Such a cool bird.

It is a real problem, is it not? How can we come to an understanding of this utterly diverse and complicated world whilst sitting in the particularity of our home? It is true that the media, from newspapers to TV and social media, offer us a daily digest of selected information. We would, I sincerely hope, critically examine these news and think for ourselves. However, even so, we would have to deal with the selective nature of the information. We never see "the whole picture". Our knowledge, even at the best of times, is necessarily fragmentary. It is absolutely important to be aware of this limitation - it is one of the virtues that make us human.
I am saying this because AI is on the march. AI has never ever left its ivory tower, it never "left home". It never made any experiences. AI has not seen anything. It does not know how to suffer. What it does is to harvest and (often illegally) exploit printed or published materials, information it has neither created nor even collected. It does not know what it does not know. And yet AI will come up with explanations and scenarios that are untroubled by any kind of self-doubt. AI does not know when it is peddling false information. AI will interpret the world whilst staying at its "home" and will not even be aware of it. Leica M8 plus Voigtlaender 35/1.4 at approx. F8.
It seemed so utterly peaceful here, but when you leave this park there is a lack of peace, there is city traffic.
As many of you know Polaroid film has gotten very expensive. And the Polaroid55 is the worst! I have a box of 10 year old film and have been using it regardless. this is one. The negative is so washed out you can hardly believe it, but I'm actually getting good images from them. (My color polaroid film from ten years ago is completely gone. Utterly.)
These endangered birds are utterly beautiful. I had fun watching this female gather nesting material on a tour I led with Avocet Tours this past week. The Prothonotary Warbler is the only member of the genus Protonotaria and the only eastern warbler that nests in natural or artificial cavities. They often use cavities in trees made by Downy Woodpeckers. They are listed as endangered in Canada and nest in hardwood swamps in southeastern Ontario in Canada and the eastern US.

Utterly unique bird that makes up its own family. The plumage is uniformly gray in adults and brownish in immatures. Structure is stork-like overall, but with a thick neck and massive hooked bill. In flight, which is sometimes quite high, the long legs trail. Found in deep marshes, especially papyrus swamp. Usually alone or in pairs.
