Thanks so much for your patience with me, my friends! I'm getting to a few of you each day. I wish it could be more! HSS!
I’m utterly moved by this scene from this mystical alley in the Mississippi District. So much weird tragedy that will haunt me, The Rest In Peace jar, the roses, the fire tape, the Ford T-bird, the Sprite bottle, the ribbons, the Virgin Mary. Ghosts, for sure.
Rest In Peace
May your journey onward
Be blessed with
Peace, Light, Love!
The irony of this composition is utterly personal . . . I'm standing on the grounds of the Eau Claire City Hall at the periphery of the Tea Party . . . looking at one the the government operations that I enthusiastically support, the public library, viewed through an evil bank's drive-up . . . I couldn't be any more conflicted! lol
I loved this sign . . . and the people were all wonderful . . . nobody that should have alarmed Dept. of Homeland Security . . . michellemalkin.com/2009/04/15/you-might-be-a-radicalized-...
The Inaugural Newcastle Sundance Sunrise Meet - Redhead Beach 24/01/09
This was the first time I'd gone on a 'flickr meet'. I'm not used to photographing with a group - it was a heap of fun. About 15 of us met up at some absolutely ridiculous hour, and were rewarded for our early-bird-ness with an utterly magnificent sky. I danced around with my little piece of equipment in between all the grownups with tripods who knew much more about what they were doing technically.
Thanks to Di and Belinda for reminding me to add - I adore my wonderful Lumix, which allows me to dance and play and capture the things I want to in the way I want.
To see some of the results of others from this morning, check out the Newcastle Sundance group pool at:

There are some amazing photographers here taking some wonderful shots!
I found Flickr's handling of last year's spam attack utterly inadequate to the point of terminating my pro membership.
Apparently, although all my work is Creative Commons licensed, I'm still limited to 1000 items and uploads are now "locked".
So that's over a decade's work, and the longest-standing social networking site I know, come to an end.
If you wish, you're welcome to follow me over on twitter or my FB page ShinyPhoto or even instagram if you want.
All the best

I took a photo just like this last year (see it here) when I went on a fall camping trip around the same time. Being from Miami, I haven't seen many fall colors in my days, so when I have the opportunity to see them I take it. The colors weren't peaked but we still had an amazing time. This photo in many ways signifies how when I look back at my life and where I've come in the past few years, I am utterly amazed at what God has done in my life and how much it's changed because of Him in college. For most of my life I knew God was real and knew we were meant to know Him personally and that He loved us, but I was surrounded my legalism and false religion. I was told you shouldn't do this or that and if you do these things, God will be happy with you and you'll go to heaven. I was told all the ways I could "reach" God, yet I feel no one was actually able to do it. That's because it's impossible, He's perfect and we're not - but the beautiful thing is God doesn't ask us to reach Him, He stepped down off of His perfect throne in heaven and came into a world full of evil and hate, because He loves us that much and wanted to show us all He is willing to do for us if we are just willing to say yes to Him. I think about how I used to think I was a good person and now I know that I fall so short of that, but that Christ is showing me what it means to truly love and helping me show that to others. I think about how I wasn't even planning on going to the college I'm at now and how I am so thankful I was led there because now I have the most amazing family who has encountered Jesus and been wrecked by Him and not living another day for anything but Him. I go to what many people consider to be the biggest party school in the country, and I tried those things and saw how deeply unsatisfying they were, and am now in a place where I experience indescribable joy, love, and peace. I cannot begin to describe how incredible it is to know the God of the Universe so closely and deeply and if you have any desire at all to know Him too, you absolutely can and please inbox me and I will tell you more about my story and how you can know Him!
Hehe I utterly love the colour pink. I adore it but lately I haven't been wearing it as much as I would like to, of course my hair always has a pink dip dye/pink fade. So here is a pink over dose for you *giggles*
Thank you Moonsoul! I so appreciate it a lot, for having my work as group cover photo. All the best to the group! 💕

Utterly EPIC morning on Holme Fell, Lake District. Had the place to myself and spent a good couple of hours trying to get close to something that represented the sheer majesty of the view.
This is a 6 shot pano (portrait shots) with the rather marvellous Nikkor 200mm f4 (vintage £40 lens)
I think I'm pretty pleased with this one!
Thanks for looking.

"Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." •
Sometimes someone walks into your life and everything just works; it's effortless, organic and right from the very first exchange - making it obvious why everything and everyone else didn't work.
From day one you've made me smile, laugh until I cry, my heart flutter and given me the freedom to be myself, always. I craved your Dominace the moment I felt it's embrace, and I am forever grateful and happy that we're on this journey together.

This was a lot of fun to work on! Sascha and I love the greek classics and really vibed with the story of Achilles and Patroclus. We wanted to convey a concept of love and adoration that seems to freeze the world and stand the test of time. Something that seemed chaotic and serene all at once.

This was completely and utterly taken on July 18th, don’t listen to that dumb date stamp.
Anyway, I know I’m a total loser for doing the whole “space texture” stuff but I’ve been planning on doing something cool or different since the 9th. Especially with the space textures. AND I THINK THIS LOOKS COOL SO SHUDDUP, stop insulting me! Well, I will totally update you guys when I’m caught up with my pictures.
Ugh, I got so much exercise with this shot and it was so hot! But the distance looks longer then it actually is XD
Oh, and I swear I’ll do a Jar Project soon!

1. I hope I’m not a let down in the future.
2. I think I have a strange obsession with “Speak” books.
3. I’m... awkward.
4. I cry really easily.
5. Something has upset me recently.
6. I have this in my mind but it’s personal, sorry.
7. I think my nose looks HUGE in pictures.
8. I’m lazy and I really shouldn’t be.
9. I wasn’t on flickr all day because I was reading ^-^
10. I finally finished editing this after having it sit open without saving it for weeks, yeah that’s little self critical me. (Still don’t know if I like this... "Should I crop, do something else, etc, etc, etc.")
I am terrible.
An utterly gorgeous, breath-takingly beautiful Licca by Licca Castle, with natural makeup and chocolate brown hair that feels like real hair in its silkiness and thinness. She's one of those dolls that's even more beautiful in real-life, I'm speechless. A little Venus of a doll! ♥___♥ OMG!
Yes, I just might call her Venus, the name suits her looks and she'd take it as a huge compliment. :D *Licca flips hair and bats eyelashes* And she does look like she belongs in a painting!

An utterly adorable (well, in my opinion anyway) alpaca, curiously and rather nervously watching me from under it's fringe. I want one of these alpacas, they were soo cute, rather shy but with the sweetest expression, LOL I wonder what Barney would think of them?
I took this today, at the big Three Counties Show, which is just down the road from our house. We had a fantastic time, I always love going to country shows, today we saw all sorts of things: agility, livestock showing, horses, and many, many cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and these guys, the alpacas (my favourites!). I hope you're all having a great weekend too!

I have not been out to this waterfall in way too long a period of time. This is Wahclella Falls in the Columbia River Gorge, to this day still my favorite waterfall. Not because of its size or scale, in this case I think it is location, location, location. It is just far enough off the beaten path to remain somewhat secluded. The falls is situated in an amazing little cul-de-sac of the valley that has an almost time-forgot-this-place feel to it.
This has always been a problem image for me though, it has both elements I really like and really dislike. For one, I love the lushness of the moss on the rocks. Their color and vibrancy always strike me and remind me what a magnificent place this constantly damp state is. Unfortunately the light itself was not the best the day I took this with my pinhole and the falls themselves were a bit unevenly lit. I liked how the light was illuminating the spray at the bottom was being lit up, but I composed a bit poorly and it cuts into the edge of the frame. This has always bugged me about this shot. Generally speaking you never want to put such a visually interesting element, or any element for that matter, on the edge of the frame. The eye is drawn to it, and right out of the picture. This an important technique to remember when composing a photo. Always check your edges and corners for intruding elements. Never provide the viewer's eye with a path out of the picture.
Anyway, I always loved and hated the print of this shot for those reasons. A little bit ago I was going through and scanning a bunch of my negatives and decided to revisit this one. To make a long story short, the scan of this image gave me less cropping than the print had. It still is not a perfect composition, but it is better. I still love the mossy rocks and the slate bue gray of the water. And the memories, those are always valuable. I really need to get back out to this waterfall. Well that is what January is for. ;-)

A collaboration with the utterly epic April-lea for night 1 of Roid Week 2013! Check out the Roid Week pool if you haven't already!
When not shooting Polaroids, I write children's & YA fiction. I've been working on a new book for the last 7 years, an epic space adventure for all ages, illustrated by my all-time favourite artist, Dave McKean. It's published on August 1st - if you want to know more, there's some info here and a trailer here!
Utterly unmistakable orange bird with a zebra-striped wings, a Chinese fan of a crest (usually held closed, but often raised just after landing), and a rapier of a bill. Favors semiopen habitats such as heathland, farmland, orchards, grassy lawns, where it feeds on the ground, probing with its long bill for insects. Flight fast and fairly direct, with rather deep wingbeats. Unlikely to be confused, but flight pattern and round wings may loosely resemble that of woodpeckers; note far longer and thinner bill. eBird
An utterly naff one to start today... I'm hoping I may have the chance to take something much better but we are off to a wedding soon and its been a manic morning.
So, at least I now have a pic for 'dance' for the Scavenger Hunt.
Small., hard to find., and utterly gorgeous! Those big quizzical eyes making every minute of the search worthwhile. He's exactly the cuddly 'toy' all the kids want to find under the tree at Christmas! We had never been lucky enough to see one before so for us quite a big event. And no we did not succumb to a specialized photographic hide., he really is a Little Owl found up a tree
I was utterly thrilled to see this wonderful P1 in person in Paris ! It is so beautiful, there are no words to describe this car.
I've been utterly inspired by PinaColada recently and the shot that I always come back to is her 'Bye Bye Red, Hello Black' one.
I loved playing with the inks today, interesting how different colours 'move' through the water so differently.
I love the contrasts in this and the dimension the blue ink adds.
Only processing I have done is upped the exposure a little and a square crop.
The utterly exquisite chlorophyll-lacking form of the (beautiful in its own right) violet helleborine. The books say that lacking chlorophyll it cannot photosynthesise, but I suspect that some of the red pigments that presumably contribute to the pink colouration must be carotenoids or similar, and therefore capable of photosynthesis. This would make sense given the greenish light on the forest floor, although much of its nutrition is undoubtedly provided willingly or otherwise by symbiotically-associated fungi. The location was very kindly supplied confidentially by an anonymous provider!
View on black!
I hate photographing flowers. I am utterly bored. Here is another ring flower.

21.) avaricious: Actuated by avarice; greedy of gain; immoderately desirous of accumulating property
"The world folded out before her, white and intimidating like a blank canvas waiting for an artist's touch. She was finally alive and free. What she didn't know is that with opportunity would come choice and with choice would come temptation. And of all the sweetest sins to call her name, avarice and it's appeals would capture her in a way that nothing else ever could.
However, she knew none of this. Her world was just beginning and everything was new, and she was utterly convinced that nothing could hurt her. "
Taken through a window before the blizzard really hit. And, currently, there are areas of snow up to my waist. It's actually very, very awesome.
And I hope everyone is doing well today. My camera is functioning properly again and so is my creativity it's all up to weather and time now. So I'm hoping to start getting back on track soon but we'll see. And I kind of want to start selling prints but I'm not completely decided as of yet.
Not all ideas are good ideas and even the powerful and experimented Kuat Drive Yards (KDY) engineers can fail utterly. The AT-AC or All Terrain Armored Crawler is a perfect example of one of these false good ideas.
While the supremacy of the AT-AT on the field was not to be demonstrated anymore, particularly after the crushing imperial victory on Hoth, the Imperial Army still complained about the AT-AT expensive cost per unit and its highly demanding maintenance.
KDY engineered went back to their plans and after a few months, they proposed the AT-AC. The concept was quite simple, starting from the successful AT-AT, they replaced the costly maintenance-intensive articulated legs by continuous track systems.
When presenting the AT-AC to the Imperial Army, KDY was proud to claim that it was significantly less expensive than the original AT-AT, that it required only one third of the AT-AT maintenance time, while still retaining the same firepower and robust protection.
Unfortunately, the first field deployments quickly demonstrated all weaknesses of the AT-AC. Because of its great armor and protection, it was heavy and because it was heavy, it was really slow when crawling, its speed approaching ridiculous levels when the landscape was not ideal. The second issue comes from the change of height. While crawling on the ground, the AT-AC was no more inspiring fear but also found itself very limited in its fire coverage ability.
As consequence, the limited number of assembled prototypes have been assigned to 3rd class garrisons on planets with limited local technological civilizations. Surprisingly, the troopers reported only positive feedback about their AT-AC. These were offering comfortable, reliable and well protected transportation and the lack of agility was not a real issue when battling primitive tribes and species. It is even rumored that some COMPNOR officers would have confessed that with AT-AC on Endor instead of AT-ST, the rebellion (not to mention the despised Ewoks) would never had won.
One last remark about the AT-AC. According to several concurring sources, it would have been nicknamed Crawling Armored Transport (C.A.T.) among the troops. COMPNOR supposes that it may related to some kind of resemblance to an animal on one of the remote planets where the AT-AC operates.
Disclaimer: the above is 100% fiction.

A great place to sit and reflect. Grassi Lakes on a Saturday morning before most of the hikers arrive.
