Well...We ALL need cheering up, don't we ?

A most enjoyable and uplifting Lockdown Walk. The foggy and icy weather at the weekend transformed the trees and as it melted lozenges of ice fell to the ground looking like snow beneath each tree.

I haven't uploaded for a while due to a few issues but hopefully I'm up and running again. Thanks for viewing :-)

This holiday season may be difficult for some people, so find them and uplift them. Share happiness and be a blessing.

And a special thank you to Greg for always lifting me up. You're the best!

Afternoon light on and along the Chicago River.

Here, west is actually behind me and a small sliver of sun somehow filtered through, while light reflected from the glass and steel all around glows up the whole space.

Its just a matter of finding a few interesting spots and seeing what lines up.

Imagine you're alone on a tiny wooden boat with a view like this in front of you, just going about your own daily business, no desk, no computer, no door, no clock, just nature's embrace and an elevated spirit that could probably surpass that of the wealthiest person on the face of the earth. Is it any wonder that many of us romanticize and long for a less complicated life sometimes...*SIGH*

Thank you for floating by :)

the hotel....

Do you ever take a picture, and revisited the same place 12 years later thinking, OMG this place has never changed..

This is what happened this week. Still the same decor... Sadly still not dressed this year....

Ho hum...😫😫

Now Sienna, sit straight, look dignified and we will begin!

101 Oil Studies, No. 82

Objective: Sky study expanded to full composition

I took a favorite sky photograph in northern New Mexico on the last day of May 2009. I previously used this setting seven months ago for study No. 55 ("Mona Niara" in my 101 Oil Studies album), which gives me a chance to gage progress.

Painted in 12 sessions: 03 to 30 September 2025

Pigments (Winsor & Newton Artists' oil colour unless otherwise noted): Warm grey (Rembrandt), ivory black, indigo, cerulean blue, yellow ochre, Naples yellow, Naples yellow light, terra verte, Vandyke brown, transparent red earth (Gamblin). Mediums: Gamsol. Oleogel.

Centurion OP DLX oil primed linen, 50.8 x 40.6 cm (20 x 16 inches).

Apps: pure shot, vintbwmkii, retouch, snapseed

Very little to see but sky near the edge in Mendocino County.

A shutdown is never a good answer, is it.

I only wish I could take good bird shots; but I was wading in the warm, shallow water trying to take pictures at the same time -

for leslie

.. so glad you are feeling better

explored...thanks everyone....

Milwaukee Road 113A is having an uplifting experience after hitting the ditch on the Ellie Sub. The Bucyrus Erie 250 ton MILW X18 was called to the incident to get the F7 back on track.

The X18 is a 1/29th scale scratch-built, functioning big hook. Building the X18 was pretty easy, adding the cables, well that's a whole other story.

The view from the Snake River Overlook has so many different "looks". The classic view is of the "S" curve of the river with the mountains dominating the image.(an image made famous by Ansel in 1942 and impossible to replicate due to the growth of the trees) I wanted to present a more grounded image by showing what is "under foot" in this wide angle view to relay the experience of standing in this awesome and uplifting place(hence the name of this image).

Please do give yourself that "standing there" feeling by looking at this in the "Original" size. :) Thank you in advance for looking at my work and for any comments, critiques and favorites.

I learned how to make cool lemon twists for this image, so I can use this skill for my next cocktail party!
