These majestic birds are frequently found at the Colca Canyon and ride on the uplifts there

I know I've posted a ton of Golden Gate Bridge pictures and countless fog pictures. And here is another one of them. I haven't been going out much lately, so I am just looking through some of my older photos and came across this one. Hope you like it.

When I climbed up the Hills of the Wiehengebirge near the Wittekindsburg on Saturday morning I spotted a team of paragliders preparing for their flight. Porta Westfalica, Ostwestfalen, Germany

I thought of what photo to post to sum up such a strange year, of highs and lows. As waves of virus have washed over us all I thought this photo of a wave building up ready to crash over these wonderful eroded rocks was perfect. There have been times of beauty in between the waves, Draped in sunlight and warmth, only to have plans dashed again. I can't complain, I had a fantastic time with Maura, six weeks in the Italian Alps and Sardinia in summer, then a great two weeks in Wales in November, . It's a. pity our planned trip to the Dolomites had to be cancelled, but I'm sure we'll do something else equally as exciting as soon as France allows me to travel again.

Every Spring I search for Loons along the Milwaukee Lakefront. They Usually stop by on their migration to lakes in Northern Wisconsin. They bring with them their beautiful haunting calls that take me back through time <3

Lovely to see these elements of Spring - which I found really uplifting in a time where most other stuff is very definitely in the other direction.

Grenoble is a fascinating city. Everything in this city is uplifting: the people, the streets, the buildings, the architecture—everything. I look forward to another trip. Wish you a wonderful day.

More sunrays! I was blessed the morning I took these shots, I was able to track the sun through different parts of the wood to capture many crepuscular moments for a good 15 minutes whilst the mist hung there almost waiting for someone to photograph it. So sorry, a few more to come yet :)

This one I especially like as the light lit up little areas of ground and highlighted the amazing amount of spiders webs that were woven overnight (and ended up on me!)

These are the vans used to carry our bicycles around - we've just driven to the beginning of a long track to lead us down into Ronda

A backlit great grey owl about to lift off in pursuit of dinner. It landed a short distance away in a tree, waited a short time for its opportunity, then dove down to catch the vole that was under the snow. All the action was behind shrubs, unfortunately for me. The owl didn't give a hoot.

Remains of a clematis here at home. I find this stage of its life very pretty and interesting.

This delicate conifer branch gently curving upwards took my eye against the misty backdrop of the other widely spaced firs that make up this special small area on the edge of Hillock Wood, Buckinghamshire.

A composite. The grands had fun with this one. They helped me take photos of the books. Other elements from my archives.

As each Snow Goose flaps it's wings it creates an uplift for the birds that follow. Snow Geese lifting off from a farmer's field, Route 934, near Fontana, Pennsylvania.

I walk this track with our dog most days and this section in autumn is an absolute joy. Quite a lot of the beech leaves are still there 3 weeks on from when this was taken, though the yellows and much of the green have now gone.

And HFF! to folks - it's been a while since my last upload to this once-popular topic!

Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, Utah/Arizona. (Taken from our hotel room)

Before human existence, the Park was once a lowland basin. For hundreds of millions of years, materials that eroded from the early Rock Mountains deposited layer upon layer of sediment which cemented a slow and gentle uplift, generated by ceaseless pressure from below the surface, elevating these horizontal strata quite uniformly one to three miles above sea level. What was once a basin became a plateau.

Natural forces of wind and water that eroded the land spent the last 50 million years cutting into and peeling away at the surface of the plateau. The simple wearing down of altering layers of soft and hard rock slowly revealed the natural wonders of Monument Valley today.

Happy New Year!

There was something about the perspective and the light from above that made me take this shot. The mist in the air gave the sky a blank look but lit up the gap in the canopy enough to highlight this central tree. Taken in Hillock Wood, Buckinghamshire.

A grey and dank day. Then a burst of golden light, a new year, and ray of renewed hope for 2021. There's more than just light at the end of the tunnel, it has to be a better place!

So finally we've had a lovely sunny morning with a whiff of summer nearing its end. Young Australian Reed Warblers were having fun chasing the insects and did not pay much attention to that lone human on the shore.
