Some of the oldest rocks in Texas can be found in the Llano Uplift, dating back 1.3 billion years. Both Cambrian and Precambrian formations are seen in the region of the Willow City Loop in Gillespie County, about 85 west of Austin.

The Willow City Loop is a scenic 13-mile road through privately owned land. While we visit this area in the spring and fall of every year, this is the first time I've been able to "see" it like this with my drone.

The lifting fog on Wollombi Road.

Little Black Cormorant (Phalacrocorax sulcirostris) - it feels great to be able to visit the wetlands and parks, even within the prescribed 25 km radius, for no reason again ;-)

Oystercatchers in flight on the coastal path south from Gourdon, Aberdeenshire.

Spotting a Nankeen Kestrel within the first few minutes of my return to the wetlands today was a real treat. Shortly thereafter, it joined another on a nearby tree – a pair indeed!

All of the angles, corners, and glass & steel in Chicago means there are interesting photography spots to find - like where a sliver of a sunset meets reflected light.

The unusual weather has brought colorful evenings.

to all of the wonderful people in my life who make me feel like this on a daily basis.... I am privileged to call you my friends. thank you <333

- Green mountains all around us. It felt like a church.

- That sounds like a good dream, Alice.

(From: The Strange, by Nathan Ballingrud, 2023).

High in the mountains the air is cool. Her shawl keeps her warm. She is a coastal dweller not used to the chill. Here, on the roof of the world, the silence is total. She takes deep breaths and exhales slowly. She can feel the pulse of the world, the beating heart of the mountain. Thrown up from the deepest depths of the Earth into a green cloudless sky the mountain has a calming influence on her. She feels uplifted. She hears and understands the rocks. She is a rock. She is a mountain. For a thousand million years she will stand here, and help to hold up the sky.

Another one from last Thursday night. It is a magical, uplifting spot.

Uplifted is the stone --

And all mankind is risen --

We all remain thine own.

And vanished is our prison.

All troubles flee away

Thy golden bowl before,

For Earth and Life give way

At the last and final supper.

To the marriage Death doth call --

The virgins standeth back --

The lamps burn lustrous all --

Of oil there is no lack --

If the distance would only fill

With the sound of you walking alone

And that the stars would call

Us all with human tongues and tone.

Unto thee, O Mary

A thousand hearts aspire.

In this life of shadows

Thee only they desire.

In thee they hope for delivery

With visionary expectation --

If only thou, O holy being

Could clasp them to thy breast.

With bitter torment burning,

So many who are consumed

At last from this world turning

To thee have looked and fled,

Helpful thou hast appeared

To so many in pain.

Now to them we come,

To never go out again.

At no grave can weep

Any who love and pray.

The gift of Love they keep,

From none can it be taken away.

To soothe and quiet his longing,

Night comes and inspires --

Heaven's children round him thronging

Watch and guard his heart.

Have courage, for life is striding

To endless life along;

Stretched by inner fire,

Our sense becomes transfigured.

One day the stars above

Shall flow in golden wine,

We will enjoy it all,

And as stars we will shine.

The love is given freely,

And Separation is no more.

The whole life heaves and surges

Like a sea without a shore.

Just one night of bliss --

One everlasting poem --

And the sun we all share

Is the face of God.

Following on from the POTUS departure, the two US Marine Corps HMX-1 Sikorsky VH-3D Sea Kings BuAerNo's 159356 & 159354 lift away from Heathrow to return to RAF Northolt to overnight there before being collected by C-17 transports the next day

However, with Northolt being marginal for loaded C-17 transports those flights then routed via Mildenhall for further fuel uptake for the long haul back to Quantico, Virginia

Milwaukee Road 113A is having an uplifting experience after hitting the ditch on the Ellie Sub. The Bucyrus Erie 250 ton MILW X18 was called to the incident to get the F7 back on track.

The X18 is a 1/29th scale scratch-built, functioning big hook. Building the X18 was pretty easy, adding the cables, well that's a whole other story.

I spotted this in front of my bank & took this shot! At first I thought it was a tribute to someoe who had died there, but instead it's a group or company that put this together to bring joy & smiles during this time of Covid! It's quite lovely to see up close.

2022-08-28, Day 2

Low clouds obscure the highest peaks of the Victoria Cross Range, and the sun filters through a chance opening to illuminate the distant uplifted sediments that long ago departed the angle of their origins, Jasper National Park, Alberta. Emigrants Mountain (8,376 ft; 2,553 m) is on the right, and Mount McKean (8,999 ft; 2,743 m) is second from left.

A portion of Monarch Meadows forms a long, relatively even slope that gradually pinches to a narrow but easily navigable pass. In this photo I am looking down that slope and back the way I traveled while my friend and hiking partner climbs toward me. We were not sure what we would find over the pass as we entered the Snaring River drainage, but even at the time the name left me somewhat apprehensive. Our reading of the maps suggested a steep, forested valley would need to be negotiated on the other side before we could ascend above tree-line to yet another pass. The upside to the high route and its attendant passes was that we hoped to avoid many miles of travel through dense forest and downed logs. The downside is that we did not know how steep and negotiable (or not) the passes might be. As I mentioned previously, the 100 ft. (40 m) contour intervals on our maps are capable of concealing a great deal. Moreover, it was never exactly clear just what density of contour intervals translated to 'impassable', as even small cliffs might be problematic.

The upper reaches of the Meadows did reveal one abundantly clear lesson: there is a considerable amount of water moving through these mountains. As we approached the narrow pass, the ground remained spongy and dotted with sedge-lined pools, though there was hardly any watershed remaining. The pass itself began to form a stream on either side as soon as a slope became discernible. The soil at the pass was loose and coarse, and we counted not one, not two, but three impressive piles of Grizzly Bear scat right at the high point. It was comical to imagine so many bears gaining this commanding viewpoint and then consistently being moved to defecate as they contemplated their next move.

The uplifting role that wildlife plays in our lives becomes more vital than ever. So, for my own sanity as much as anything, here is another beautiful bird..the Great Tit at Woods Mill Nature Reserve West Sussex..

Door County, Route - G

About halfway between Sturgeon Bay and Egg Harbor was this beautiful little park. It had a large cement dock, picnic areas and a small ball field.

There was one bench on the dock facing the water. My bride said, "It's a good thing we don't live near here, you would be on that bench watching the clouds and water all day!"

Yup, she knows me pretty well! :)

Slightly more uplifting than 'COVID High Street' and 'Foggy Market Morning', this is still the same foggy morning but now shows the end of autumn surrounding quite a popular photographic subject in Beverley.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. I generally see in black and white when I am shooting street, in terms of visualising my shots, but a splash of colour amid the dull hues can really sing out to me. Seems that she agrees too, the orange-red among the blues is fabulous. Enjoy!

I really do not know for sure which one of these captures, that I present today to you, I love most !!! Because, all of them, represent one of my mostly loved spots in my beloved Château-land -- Château De La Hulpe. These captures are taken on a bright , sunny, November day. I was standing just a few meters away in each , while being always at the same spot….It is a magical , inspiring, and uplifting place, especially between mid October and mid November….

This is a part of my personal “Château secret path” of about 30’-45’ in my beloved Château Forest(s). Every time I arrive here, I stop, breathe deeply, look around in deep admiration and awe, listen to the sounds, and say….”thank You!!”(…and then, I start photo-shooting…). Right here, the path close to the first water-side stops, so I have to turn around the water-side, in order to follow the other side of my path, again close to the waters…Just like walking alongside a large, river-like pond, surrounded by a magical, colourful woodland…..

(*** It is really worthed, to experience these captures in LARGE, in case you have some time available…)

I think color, shade and contrast can really be “Uplifting.” When one comes across the brightness of a Rose, a Violet or let’s say a daisy it can bring a smile on our face. Natural beauty does it to me whether seasonal beauty, an animal or a person it can change in an instant. Beauty can be uplifting. Gratitude and Kindness in the mix can only help.
