      Joy

      It stalks me, knows

where I am, follows me now,

can see me, a wolf at the edge

of the pine forest watching as I run

through panes of light,

      against the air that whispers

through the trees, that wants

to lift me up like a sail.

Nothing scares me more

      than being unhinged

but when a dove lands before me

      I stop short, caught breathless,

breaking open, torn from the trough

of despair I feel so safe in. No choice

but to rise, and I am stretched out,

devoured, expanding into the trees, this bird,

no I, only we, untethered to me

      and inside of everything

      mortal and earthbound.

Another Day Filled with Sleeves of Light

and I carry ripened plums,

waiting to find the one

who is interested in tasting.

How can we ever be known?

Today the lily sends up

a fifth white-tipped tendril, the promise

of another flower opening,

and I think, this must mean this plant

is happy, here, in this house, by this window.

Is this the right deduction?

The taller plant leans and leans toward the light.

I turn it away, and soon its big hands are reaching again

toward what nourishes it,

but what it can never touch.

Couldn’t the yellowing leaves of the maple

and their falling also be a sign of joy?

Another kind of leaning into.

A letting go of one thing

to fall into another.

A kind of trust I cannot imagine.

Porsche Cayman S, German quality, unhinged performances

I've been to Cwmorthin three times over recent years and each time the weather has been crap, not to put too fine a point on it! On this occasion, we started out in drizzle and came back in pouring rain and I confined the resulting images to the "reject" folder almost immediately. That said, I had another look recently and thought this one held a bit of promise, so had a go at it in mono and it seems to have worked pretty well.

Playing with dolls again.

Did some sliding and added a hammer to the earlier posted PICTURE, to scare the living daylight out of my friends and ontacts who find this sort of image creepy. (Yes, you, and you, and you too!)

Hide when you see her rushing along. She is so mad with rage, she doesn't distinguish between friend and foe!

Fall, 1913: The basement of Berlin’s Kaiser-Wilhelm-Institut for Chemistry housed the ‘Hahn-Meitner Laboratory’, which was a converted wood shop with a few electroscopes to study ‘radiochemistry’. The all-male chemistry institute ignored Lise Meitner for being a woman – albeit, one of the handful few contemporary women with a Ph.D. in Physics, and disregarded Otto Hahn for working on trivial trace moieties, which one could neither smell, see, or weigh. Meitner used the basement’s own external entrance to come and go; women were not allowed to set foot in the rest of the building. Despite such odds, Meitner and Hahn made important pioneering discoveries (including discovering Protactinium) and in recognition of their contribution, the building, as part of the Free University of Berlin, was renamed ‘Hahn-Meitner building’ in 2010.

1938-39: In July, Nazi Germany stormed Austria. Anti-Semitic laws were installed prohibiting university professors from leaving the country. Fearing persecution due to her Jewish heritage, Hahn helped Meitner escape across the Dutch border. Meitner evaded evil and settled in Sweden. Meanwhile, in December, back at the wood shop, a baffling alchemy happened. Following Nobel laureate Enrico Fermi’s experiments in Rome, Hahn bombarded an uranium atom with a single neutron – for trope, think David and Goliath. Not much was supposed to happen. Unexpectedly, as an end product, such bombardment produced barium, an element almost half the mass of uranium. Hahn communicated this finding and his perplexities to his collaborator in exile. Meitner was equally stunned, but soon came up with an explanation: the neutron had sliced the uranium nucleus roughly in half – ‘nuclear fission’. The atom (ἄτομος atomos, Greek: indivisible) was now split – literally – and the stage was set for mankind’s worse nightmare.

Fall, 1939: One of the fallout of a nuclear fission reaction is the release of additional secondary neutrons from the splitting nucleus, which could then go on to torpedo fresh rounds of atomic nuclei, resulting in what physicists on both sides of the pond then excitedly referred to as ‘nuclear chain reaction’. This information was precious. Physicists Szilard, Fermi, and Joliot-Curie self-censored and did not publish their chain reaction-related theories and findings. They feared that this information could land in the wrong Nazi hands; after all, World war II was looming large. Instead, Leó Szilárd –and Albert Einstein– wrote a letter to president Franklin Roosevelt: “…it may become possible to set up a nuclear chain reaction in a large mass of uranium, by which vast amounts of power … would be generated. … This new phenomenon would also lead to the construction of bombs… A single bomb of this type, carried by boat and exploded in a port, might very well destroy the whole port together with some of the surrounding territory”. Seeds of the famed Manhattan project were thus sowed.

1944: The Manhattan project was in full swing, gestating the ‘Little Boy’, the first atomic fission bomb in human history.

Aug 6, 1945: Little Boy, containing 64 kg of pure human apathy masked as Uranium-235, was dropped on Hiroshima. With only 1-2% of its material fissioning, from pure scientific perspective, the bomb was a spectacular ‘failure’. It was also a failure on many humanitarian fronts. But the then president – Truman – claimed otherwise. “United States and its allies had spent two billion dollars on the greatest scientific gamble in history—and won."

Nov 16, 1945: Otto Hahn was named the ‘1944’ Nobel Prize recipient in Chemistry for his “discovery of the fission of heavy nuclei”. Lise Meitner was notably ignored. One wonders about Hahn’s motives to exclude Meitner from his publications that lead to the Nobel Prize. Not untouched by contemporary Nazi politics, it would be dangerous for him to acknowledge his persistent ties with Meitner. One also wonders about the motives of the Nobel Prize committee; Science could have waited for Hiroshima to heal before rushing to celebrate the very discovery that led to its unimaginable woes.

Aftermath: Although she was not a part of the Manhattan project, Lise Meitner acknowledged her moral failing in the process. Somewhat harshly, she was also condemning of Hahn, who never participated in the failed German nuclear weapons program: “You all worked for Nazi Germany. And you did not even try passive resistance.” Hahn, and other leading German physicists, were arrested by the Alsos Mission and interned in England from July 1945 until January 1946. While in custody, Hahn learned about the devastation their discovery had caused, and fell on the brink of despair contemplating suicide. In later years, he spoke often against nuclear proliferation in West Germany.

Today (Aug 6, 2020) is the 75th anniversary of Hiroshima’s atomic bombing, the day more than 100,000 human beings vaporized instantly and hundreds of thousands of others ("hibakusha") maimed for generations to come. In one of his papers, Otto Hahn acknowledged, that the splitting of the atom “violated all previous experience in the field of nuclear physics.” The unhinged application of this discovery by mankind seven years later violated a lot more.

Epilogue: I remember, as a teenager, how I felt the first time I heard about and saw images of bombed Hiroshima. My mind was painfully foggy for days to come. “I am a scientist,” Hahn had said during his formative years, “and like all scientists am interested only in discovery and not application.” Wrong. We're foremost human beings and for everything else we might be, our interests must always align with whatever it takes to be empathetic to each other. While shooting the above scene under starlight, it was funny to see that wild white horse hide its head in the bushes for the entire duration I was there (1-2 hours). Now, looking back, it was almost a borderline metaphor for many of mankind's actions during demanding times. At history's urging, we must do better.

From The New Order: Old World Blues

Ordensstaat Burgund (Order-State of Burgundy) is an SS-controlled state split off of the Western parts of the Reich, in what was once Eastern France and Belgium. Originally conceived by SS leader Heinrich Himmler, Himmler and his faction of the SS were forced to accept Burgundy and remove themselves from the German political scene after their attempted coup.

Under the madness of Himmler and the Burgundian SS, Burgundy became Himmler's private playground to build his radical totalitarian Spartanist society. Himmler's Burgundian System turned Burgundy into an isolated kingdom of nightmares the world had never seen before.

While officially subservient to the Reich, Burgundy's true master is Himmler alone. The insane leader, dreaming of a new world of purity, plans for an armageddon on an unimaginable scale. With their actions shrouded in intense secrecy, Burgundy's shadow looms upon the world, driving the world ever closer to the dawn of the doomsday.

Dark Is Evil: Himmler's Burgundy is the single most evil country on the planet, and their flag and map color are both pitch-black.

Death Is the Only Option: To win as Burgundy, you should strive for Himmler's goals and let the entire world burn in nuclear fire. Otherwise, Burgundy will just be dismantled as soon as Himmler dies.

Empty Quiver: If Heydrich is losing the Civil War, the Burgundian divisions will attempt to steal several nuclear weapons for Himmler's... personal use. If Heydrich wins the Civil War, he will supply Burgundy with a sufficient number of nukes for Himmler's ambitions.

The Friend Nobody Likes: While Burgundy is nominally a part of Unity-Pakt, they do not answer to Germany and are secretly working against Germany. Because of this, as well as the fact that Himmler got Burgundy as a result of an attempted coup, most German leaders see Burgundy as a traitorous rogue state.

Keystone Army: Himmler is Burgundy and Burgundy is Himmler. Should Himmler die, Burgundy collapses quickly afterwards.

Kick the Dog: After the start of the German Civil War, Burgundy will declare war on the French State to take their land. Burgundy doesn't really have a need for more land (in fact overextending their administration hurts them), and the French State is far too weak to pose any sort of resistance to Burgundy. Burgundy more or less does it just because they can.

Painting the Medium: To represent the intense secrecy of Burgundy's operations, Burgundy's tree is completely hidden when playing any other nation.

Playing Both Sides: In several conflicts, like a war between Göring's Germany and Sweden, Himmler is happy to provide aid to both sides.

Purple Is the New Black: It is not like Burgundy has a shortage of black, either, but purple is also widely used in Burgundian focus icons, and the color of the Burgundian system on the ideology chart is also purple.

Renegade Splinter Faction: Himmler's SS-land Burgundy is de facto independent from the Reich's control. They are also so insanely radical that just about everybody inside Germany except the German-SS hates them.

The Spartan Way: Burgundy is built on the ideals of Himmler and it shows. The Aryan people in Burgundy are under constant watch, obliged to serve in factories or the army, are not allowed to have too many luxuries and experience constant rationing. Needless to say, for non-Aryan people (about half of the population of Burgundy), the situation is even worse.

State Sec: Burgundy is the personal fiefdom of the SS.

Heinrich Himmler

In the 1950s, the Reich was in deep trouble. Their economy was crashing, and they were losing the West Russian War. Heinrich Himmler, having been loyal to the Nazi Party for decades, had a crisis of faith. He became convinced that National Socialism was a failed ideology; it was corrupt, decadent, and far, far too soft, and he saw it his mandate to bring Germany back on course again. From Paris to Moskow, Himmler's Schutzstaffel prepared to topple the government and take control of the Reich.

The coup was a failure, thanks to intervention by Hans Speidel's loyalists; however, Himmler's SS was too strong to simply be dismantled, and so Himmler's plans for Ordensstaat Burgund were fulfilled, and Himmler and his branch of the SS had a place where they could live out their mad fantasies without disturbing Germania. When the 60s came, Himmler and Burgundy became more isolated, more powerful, and more unhinged. With loyal SS cohorts across Europe, Himmler's grand plans are closer to completion than ever before.

Bad Boss: Himmler doesn't tolerate failures and treats faulty subordinates in a pure Spartanist manner. Heydrich can learn it the hard way.

Big Bad: As the manipulative instigator of nuclear war between the superpowers, Himmler serves as the main villain of the mod. As long as you have some control over the situation, one of the main goals in the mod is not falling for his schemes and preventing a nuclear apocalypse (unless, of course, you're playing as Himmler).

Dragon-in-Chief: Formally, Burgundy is a subject of Heydrich's Germany. In reality, Germany under Heydrich becomes a de-facto puppet of Himmler.

Evil Overlord: Checks all the major boxes: a powerful despot with significant resources sitting in a fortified, secluded, and oppressive kingdom, planning for global destruction.

Final Solution: Himmler sees non-Aryans across the world as a problem, and his solution is a global nuclear war that would exterminate all non-Aryans.

Kicked Upstairs: Himmler was put in charge of Burgundy to distance him away from German politics as far as possible. For Himmler, that only meant he had to strive for his goals behind the curtain, and the military potential of Burgundy is more than expedient for his plans.

Hidden Agenda Villain: Himmler's actual agenda is known only to Himmler himself and his very narrow circle of supporters. Even Heydrich, his protégé, isn't aware of Himmler's true motives.

Misanthrope Supreme: Himmler hates almost the entirety of humanity (aside from a small group of Aryans) whom he deemed as sub-humans and he is absolutely willing to subject the world to a nuclear holocaust in order to completely exterminate them.

No Place for Me There: Himmler believes that he doesn't deserve to live in the post-nuclear world and allows himself to die during the nuclear apocalypse.

Omnicidal Maniac: Himmler seeks to destroy all lesser races, as well as the entirety of human civilization, through nuclear means, so the Aryans can restart the world, recolonize the Earth and create a utopia.

Sanity Slippage: Age, horrifying experiences during the West Russian Revolutionary War in the 50s and watching over the slow decline of the Reich made Himmler more and more entrenched and certain of his Spartanist and omnicidal beliefs, with the German Civil War being the breaking point for him.

Thanatos Gambit: Himmler doesn't see himself as Aryan enough to deserve living in the post-nuclear apocalypse world and he considers himself and Burgundy perfectly disposable as long as his plan proceeds.

Commander TK-5011’s Report: The Jedi were caught by surprise. The few that had been up early, in the fields, had been killed. Judging by their braids they must've been older padawans. Inside, the elderly Ithorian cut down six of my men, before she was killed. Another human Jedi assisted her. He was disarmed by the Inquisitors, brought outside, and killed. My men rounded up around seven younger students, all escorted to the offworld transport. The remaining Jedi have been captured and sent to Sgt. Taran Rackham for interrogation.

I lost another three men to an unhinged training droid, but our Inquisitors made short work of it.

We have secured a dozen Holocrons from the Jedi vault, along with a few other artifacts.

I take full responsibility for the men I lost, and I accept any disciplinary action. I consider the mission a success and I am certain Lord Cerato will be pleased.

Thanks for watching!

Gulls or seagulls are seabirds of the family Laridae in the suborder Lari. They are most closely related to the terns (family Sternidae) and only distantly related to auks, skimmers, and more distantly to the waders. Gulls are typically medium to large birds, usually grey or white, often with black markings on the head or wings. They typically have harsh wailing or squawking calls; stout, longish bills; and webbed feet. Most gulls are ground-nesting carnivores which take live food or scavenge opportunistically, particularly the Larus species. Live food often includes crabs and small fish. Gulls have unhinging jaws which allow them to consume large prey. Gulls are typically coastal or inland species, rarely venturing far out to sea, except for the kittiwakes. S20N_273

From the underground steel cage fight matches at Silent Sam's, Ripjaws prepares for combat!

Ripjaws shares a number of traits with Earth's aquatic life, such as an alligator, an eel, a leech, an anglerfish, and a shark. He can change between a fishtail with triangular lines or legs at will and has a phosphorescent light on his head.

In the Original Series, Ripjaws' body was mostly grey and he had four-fingered hands. He wore the original Omnitrix symbol on a black patch over his left pectoral.

In Back with a Vengeance, Ripjaws wore a yellow raincoat.

In Ultimate Alien, Ripjaws had a catfish-like face, green eyes with black pupils, chest plates similar to Humungosaur, three-fingered hands, a green lure, and green lips. His tail was colored grey like his skin and his fins were a darker shade of green than in the Original Series. He wore the Ultimatrix symbol on his chest.

In the Ultimate Alien intro, Ripjaws looked almost the same as in the series proper except his tail was black, reflecting his appearance in the Original Series. His lips were also colored black and his lure was white.

In Heroes United, Ripjaws looked mostly the same as in Ultimate Alien except one of his eyes was pink due to a coloring error.

In Omniverse, 16-year-old Ripjaws mostly resembles his original appearance, except that his eyes are green. He now has arm and neck braces. His antenna light is green. He has a big fin on his back. The fins on his arms are longer and he is now hunched back. His claws are black, and his tail is bigger and drags behind him. He now has a belt in place of the strap that holds the Omnitrix symbol on it.

11-year-old Ripjaws appears almost exactly the same as he did in the Original Series, except his eyes and the Omnitrix symbol on his left upper torso are recolored green.

Kevin's Ripjaws looked the exact same as Ben's did in the Original Series, but without an Omnitrix symbol. His black patch was also on his right upper torso.

Powers and Abilities

Ripjaws' large jaws and sharp teeth are his most deadly weapon, being able to shred even metal from submarines. He also possesses sharp claws that can damage metal and mountains.

Ripjaws can unhinge his jaws, allowing him to fit a mass supply of objects in his mouth.

Ripjaws displays the distinctive feature of turning his legs into a fish's tail and vice-versa, giving him a merman-like appearance. While outside the water environment, he displays a loincloth with a similar pattern to his tail (implying the loincloth wraps around his legs, fusing with it and becoming the tail).

Ripjaws can breathe underwater and swim at high speeds with amazing agility. He has great endurance and can withstand strong water pressure, meaning he possesses the nature of abyssal aquatic life, hence his blank eyes and the phosphorescent lure on his forehead.

Using his ability to swim at high speeds, Ripjaws can swim fast enough to create a vortex underwater.

Ripjaws has enhanced strength, being able to easily punch a hole in a dock,[7][10] tear a door of the Perplexahedron open,[11] slam a power armor scuba suit into the ground hard enough to rock a nearby shipwreck, lasso an anchor,[8] and hold his own against Vulkanus while underwater.

Ripjaws is rather durable, as shown when he was able to withstand being thrown against Sheelane's ship.

Ripjaws can leap much farther than a regular human.

Much like an ordinary anglerfish, Ripjaws' lure can serve as a light in dark areas. His eyes also glow.

Weaknesses

Ripjaws' greatest weakness is that he cannot stay on land for too long. If Ripjaws wants to stay on land, he would require water or cool temperatures to keep him from dehydrating. If he doesn't have water while on land, he could die. Exposure to extreme heat will cause Ripjaws to dehydrate quickly.

Ripjaws can be immobilized by ice, such as the ice breath of an Evolved Necrofriggian, as demonstrated with several Piscciss Volann guards.

Ripjaws is vulnerable to electricity.

History

Ripjaws first appeared in The Krakken, where he helped the Krakken defeat Jonah Melville and retrieve her eggs.

In Last Laugh, Ripjaws defeated some crooks.

In Secrets, Ripjaws suffered from dehydration on Mt. Rushmore and was nearly caught by Vilgax before the malfunctioning Omnitrix turned him into XLR8.

Also, Ripjaws appeared as one of the many alien templates used for Vilgax's army in an imaginary sequence.

In Truth, Ripjaws defeated a Havoc Beast and met Phil.

In The Big Tick, Ripjaws failed to defeat the Great One.

In Framed, Gwen mentioned Ripjaws was used by Kevin to terrorize Chicago, Illinois.

In They Lurk Below, Ripjaws battled some Cyber Squids.

In Back with a Vengeance, Ripjaws saved a drowning man before switching into Stinkfly to fly him to safety.

In Divided We Stand, Ripjaws went surfing and ended up scaring some tourists away from the beach.

In Ben 4 Good Buddy, Ripjaws fought the Road Crew and broke into Lawrence Wainright's RV to find water.

In Sleepaway Camper, Ripjaws slept at the bottom of a lake to avoid Max's snoring.

In Deep, Ripjaws was unlocked off-screen when the Ultimatrix scanned some Piscciss Volann.

In Perplexahedron, Ripjaws broke himself and Kevin out of a room filled with water.

In Ben 10/Generator Rex: Heroes United, Ripjaws appeared as one of the many aliens when Ben was explaining his story to Rex.

In Gone Fishin', Ripjaws did some unsuccessful fishing.

Later, Ripjaws went swimming with Magister Patelliday and battled two Mechaneers.

In The Ballad of Mr. Baumann, Ripjaws defeated Vulkanus.

In A New Dawn, Ripjaws appeared for a short time when Ben was cycling through his aliens.

In Gwen 10, Gwen used Ripjaws off-screen to catch some fish.

In Snow Blind, Ripjaws defeated Frostbyte.

In Fear Itself, Ripjaws extinguished fire, that blocked the exit.

In A Villain a Day, Ripjaws failed defeating Ricky Mechanic as Hy-Voltage.

Birds of Prey is the Thor:Ragnarok of the DCEU.

I had the chance to see it today. I'll admit, I was hesitant going in. DC movies have a spotty track record at best. And I gotta say, I loved it. It is the first DCEU movie I would pay money to see again.

Why? Well first, I'm a huge comic book geek. I had big concerns that they were not being faithful to the Birds of Prey characters at all. They they were borrowing the name (only) and aiming for a quick cash grab by pinning it to the coattails of the only decent part of the Suicide Squad movie (Harley Quinn)

And in a way, they have. This IS a Harley Quinn movie, But at the same time, they've been faithful enough to the other characters, including Cassandra Cain, whilst clearly adapting them for onscreen roles.

What makes it work, is the beautiful tone of the movie. It's fresh, kinetic, and colorful, in the way that Thor Ragnarok was. It's frequently cheesy and sprinkled with good humour, and yet not afraid to get gritty in ways that make you feel uncomfortable - And those bits are important; Ewan McGregor nails the role of Black Mask, fully capturing the sadistic evil that lurks at the core of the character, with just a touch of unhinged malice. Jared Leto should have taken some of these notes for Joker.

And the action sequences? Amazing. The fight choreography is just wonderful the whole way through. Again it's a beautiful balance of over-the-top and visceral in a way that feels fresh and keeps you glued to the screen.

Cheesy action is why I paid for the ticket, and boy does it deliver.

Anyway, that's my two cents in a nutshell.

Birds of Prey is an awesome movie, and well worth the watch.

Another obscure baddie, Warren White was a criminal who pleaded insanity to try and get around legal repercussions. Naturally, the other Arkham inmates got ahold of him and disfigured him, making him rather unhinged anyway.

"In today’s post-Veyron rush to build the most apocalyptically rapid cars the world has ever seen before the environment police impound all the keys, the TVR Cerbera Speed 12 would fit right in. But 14 years ago, the idea of a road car weighing 1100kg with nearly 900bhp wasn’t so much unprecedented as unhinged.

Project 7/12, as it was first known, debuted at the 1996 Birmingham motor show and, predictably, it caused a sensation. The possibility that it might actually be quicker than the McLaren F1 wasn’t vigorously denied by Peter Wheeler though, unlike the F1, the Speed 12’s development brief was heavily biased towards a career as a GT1 class endurance racer with the aim of taking it to Le Mans..."

Whoa....it takes a LOT of chutzpah for Madame Tina to use a title like that! 😜

Anyway, I only recognized the "Madonna" vibe emanating from this series after looking at the resulting photos. Certainly not what I was going for, but there it is. (Unless I'm imagining things..)

Since we're harking back to the eighties though, I gotta say I was a veritable force of nature back in the day. Trust me, you can't imagine. I'm lucky I'm still around, to be honest. I was wild and uninhibited. (Some would say unhinged..) But definitely not the kindly, harmless old grandma type you see before you today.

Whoa....still more chutzpah. 😘❤️️💋

From the underground steel cage fight matches at Silent Sam's, Vilgax prepares for combat!

Doctor Aloysius James Animo, temporarily known as D'Void in the Null Void, is one of Ben Tennyson's enemies, a mad scientist obsessed with genetic experiments on animals. He was first introduced in Washington B.C. and became one of the most recurring villains in the Original Series.

Dr. Animo is an insane mad scientist with delusions of grandeur. Due to his constant defeats at the hands of Ben Tennyson and his family and friends, Animo has become greatly unhinged by the time of the Omniverse series. At present, he spends much of his time in a Plumber prison, creating plush toy versions of his mutated creatures and talking to them.

In Omniverse, he's made three attempts to get revenge on Ben and mutate the world, with all his plans failing miserably. He also has a cell full of stuffed animals with parts mixed in with other animals. He talks to them as if they're real.

Five years prior Ben 10

Dr. Animo was once a respected and promising researcher in veterinary science who was driven crazy when he desired to rebuild animal DNA into super animals.

His career was cut short when it was discovered that he was performing twisted genetic experiments on animals. He had hoped that his research would win him the Verities Award, which is an award in veterinary science. Because of the nature of his research, he lost the award to another doctor, named Kelly. This drove him mad and he faded to obscurity for five years until he could perfect his research.

Because he locked himself indoors for five years, his skin and formerly brown hair turned pale from overwork and lack of exposure to sunlight.

Ben 10

Sometime before his first appearance in the show, Animo watched a TV report showing Ben as Diamondhead saving a camp from a giant robot. This inspired him and led him to look for a way to create his own minion monsters.

Animo eventually appeared in Washington B.C., where he created a device called the Transmodulator, which gave him the ability to mutate animals into twisted giant versions of themselves. He then was able to upgrade it so it could reanimate dead cells, literally bringing dead animals back to life, although his reanimated monsters were actually zombies.

Using his new army of animals, he intended to kill Kelly and get the award he had lost, but Ben eventually destroyed his Transmodulator, reversing its effects. Animo was then arrested.

Animo without his gear

He appeared again in the episode Dr. Animo and the Mutant Ray, where he created a much larger version of the Transmodulator using the broken-off faceplate of the Omnitrix and a large telescope in an abandoned astrology lab.

This version mutated living creatures with alien DNA, creating odd mixtures of alien and terrestrial creatures, such as a Heatbat. He had also managed to turn Grandpa Max into a Stinkfly-larvae type creature.

Before he could complete his plans to use a satellite to shoot the ray all over the world, Ben stopped him with Gwen's help. Since his mutants (with the exception of Grandpa Max) were never shown being cured, it is possible that they are still around.

For some reason, his trademark giant frog is also present, though he may have simply re-mutated it sometime after his original defeat. How and when he escaped is unknown.

In Divided We Stand, he escaped what seems to be Alcatraz Island on a mutant seagull (he had trained the seagull to smuggle in parts he could use to build a Transmodulator and then mutated it) and captured one of Ben's Ditto clones to access the DNA stored in his Omnitrix.

Using this DNA, he created an army of self-replicating Lepidopterran mutants, but they were destroyed and he was captured again. Afterwards, Max deleted all of his computer files, preventing him from using any more Omnitrix DNA in his experiments if he escaped again.

In Ben 10 vs. the Negative 10: Part 2, Animo was part of the Negative 10, a team assembled by Sir Driscoll to defeat the Tennysons. He used a mutant bat and prairie dog to fight the Tennysons.

Animo briefly appeared at the beginning of Secret of the Omnitrix, where he captured Max and Gwen and created a dangerous bomb. Although he escaped, Ben destroyed the bomb, unintentionally causing the Omnitrix's Self-Destruct Mode to be activated.

Animo briefly appeared at the end of Destroy All Aliens, where he and his mutant frog attack Ben, Gwen, and Max while they were on another road trip.

Goodbye and Good Riddance (What-If?)

Animo made a brief appearance at the end of Goodbye and Good Riddance, wearing an ape-like exo-suit, and leading a group of animal mutants towards Ben's school. Ben left class to stop him.

Five years prior to Omniverse

In Special Delivery, Dr. Animo and his Mutant Mosquito had encountered and were defeated by Ben when he transformed into Way Big and picked up Mr. Baumann's delivery truck in order to knock Dr. Animo into a wall and threw it at the Mutant Mosquito in order to project it into outer space.

In Evil's Encore, Dr. Animo used Technobugs to take over the Plumber's HQ at Mount Rushmore. His goal was to spread his mutation ray all over the planet by hijacking the Plumber's network of satellites. He was stopped by Ben, Max, and Gwen when they destroyed his Technobugs and sent him to prison.

Alien Force

Four years later, during the time of Ben 10: Alien Force, Dr. Animo was found in the Null Void (he purposely went in to find new animal species but couldn't get out) where he assumed control over the Null Guardians and took on the alias "D'Void".

He planned to open a wormhole to use the Guardians to take over the Earth, and he forced the citizens there to gather a mineral that not only powered his drill but gave him immense strength and near invulnerability (to the point where a direct attack on him was completely ineffective). In Voided, his plans were foiled by the joint efforts of Helen, Manny, Ben, Max (codenamed "The Wrench"), and a group of other Plumbers' kids (including a Havoc Beast and a Vulpimancer).

Ultimate Alien

Animo later returned in Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, having somehow escaped from the Null Void and going by his true name again.

At the beginning of Escape from Aggregor, he used a device to take control of the Yeti in the Himalayas and create a "De-Evolution Bomb" to turn everyone in the Southern hemisphere into yetis (which Ben, Gwen, Kevin and even the Yeti thought was a stupid idea).

Using Brainstorm, Ben was able to turn his mind-controlled Yeti against him, while Kevin and Gwen disabled the bomb. He was then captured by the Plumbers.

Animo returned in It's Not Easy Being Gwen where he attempted to raise an army of his signature mutated Frogs using the enhanced version of his telescopic Transmodulator.

He was eventually defeated by Gwen, Ben, and Kevin. After being brought to the authorities, Animo was released from prison a few months later on good behavior.

Animo appeared again in The Eggman Cometh where it was revealed that he had acquired a farm. In his farm, he used a de-evolutionary ray to turn chicken eggs into Pterodactyl eggs. He was eventually stopped when Ben used Juryrigg to turn the de-evolutionary ray into an evolution ray and then Jetray to turn all of the Pterodactyls back into chickens.

Omniverse

Dr. Animo has removed the top of his skull and replaced it with a glass dome in order to have better control over animals and other self-upgrades.

He has apparently developed a hobby of cutting up and stitching together stuffed animals (and in future episodes, talking with them, showing that between Ultimate Alien and Omniverse, Animo's blatant insanity has only gotten worse), his cell full of them.

Animo returned in It Was Them where from his cell, he had been mutating ants and using them to construct a sky-scraper-sized base with a transmitter to mutate every ant on earth. He also made a "King Ant" costume, which was armed with flame throwers. Ben and his new partner Rook fought Animo and his army. He was later attacked by Khyber's Pet in the form of Mucilator.

Animo attempted to control the beast, but only provoked it into attacking him. Ben got Animo's ants to attack Mucilator and Rook was able to kill the ants by creating an anti-ant bomb from Animo's equipment. This forced a retreat from the beast and allowed Ben and Rook to return Animo to his cell.

In Evil's Encore, Animo, five years after his first attempt, again attempted to use a Technobug to escape, take over the Plumber's base, and mutate the world, but his plan was thwarted before it even started as Blukic eats the Technobug as a snack.

In T.G.I.S., he had somehow managed to escape Plumber Prison and had revived V.V. Argost with a mixture of cryptids as a new body. Apparently, the process had taken 3 years, the delay being attributed to fighting Ben Tennyson and his time spent in jail.

He later decided to capture Fiskerton, to research him and add him to his collection, but he and Argost ended up defeated by Ben, Rook, and The Saturdays. He was last seen running off after his control over the Chupacabras was destroyed.

In Animo Crackers, he was seen back in his cell at Plumber Prison, indicating that he had been recaptured. Due to the actions of his future self, he managed to escape and joined him to try and steal a huge repository of DNA. However, he was thwarted by the actions of Ben, Rook, Spanner, and arguing with his future self.

In the end, he was recaptured with his memory of this event erased by Gutrot.

Powers and Abilities

Dr. Animo has the power to telepathically or emphatically control animals. This ability is furthered by his headgear. This includes ordinary animals, but also his mutant monsters and even aliens, as he was able to take control of the Null Guardians. He learned this power from one of Ben's other enemies, Clancy, who could control bugs and other arthropods the same way.

In addition to this power, Animo is a genius and brilliant scientist, skilled in both machines and genetic experiments, who usually uses his knowledge to give him additional powers.

His trademark invention, the Trans-modulator and its variants (including on two occasions a device he called a De-Evolution Bomb), allows him to turn animals into powerful, dangerous mutants as well as reanimated the remains of long since extinct animals into zombie-like creatures both of whom serve as his minions.

His other inventions include a machine able to convert heat into energy used to increase his strength and durability, and a head band amplifying his control over animals so he could control creatures like the Yeti.

In addition, Animo is - partly out of necessity - a master of technical improvisation, capable of constructing his devices from the simplest of materials. The prototype of his Trans-modulator was constructed from commercially available electronic components and an alternated kitchen sieve.

In the Original Series, he usually relied on armies of mutated animals to fight for him.

In Animo Crackers, he is given a new pair of antennae by his future-self, which not only allows him to control animals, but also to mutate them, as he mutates a group of squirrels to attack Rook.

Weaknesses

Animo's biggest weaknesses are his temper, arrogance, and all around crazy behavior.

He would lose control over all the cryptids if his antennae get damaged or taken.

John Densmore (left) spoke with Stephen Perkins (right) about his career with The Doors as their drummer. (He and Robby Krieger are the only surviving members.) This was also at the L.A. Times Festival of Books, on the USC campus at the Main Stage. Densmore was there to discuss (among other things) his book "The Doors Unhinged: Jim Morrison's Legacy Goes on Trial." As to what that all means, I guess I'll have to get a copy of the book to find out.

Most of you rock fans probably already know Stephen Perkins as the drummer for Jane's Addiction. Perkins also holds the distinction of being born the same year The Doors' first album was released (1967). After the usual banter where two drummers from famous bands traded their techniques, Densmore read excerpts from his book, focusing mostly on the chapter where he played the first album for his parents. More about that in upcoming photo posts.

I used a 6 stop ND filter on this lens so I can use it on very bright days.

Yep, definitely a bad guy. I'm not sure if I overworked the torso area, I mean, his name is Maniac, it's supposed to look a little unhinged I guess...

The Brickset Huwbots. While Red and Yellow are calm and methodical, happy to keep things running smoothly, Green is erratic, unhinged and obsessed with Clickits.

Mind and body are different. The body and outside of the picture is calm, balanced and steady, the head in the center (inside) of the image is 'unhinged'.

What does this image mean to you, what does it inspire you think? A picture is worth a thousand words, therefore it must be worth a thousand thoughts.

Not bad for a first try, I'm trying to learn how to do the "crazy" or "insomnia" type picture. Anyone have any tips they can give to help me out??

Mrs Andy saw this when we had a walk around Settle, North Yorkshire, UK recently. The background is a blue green in reality but image seems to suit black and white better. Also I don't often put a frame around an image but thought the highlights on the photo were accentuated by the white border.

The title is also Mrs Andys doing. I didn't argue as she is female and therefore always right... 😀. After reflection I wonder if she was alluding to my state of mind when thinking up the title. Probably...

Taken with my new (ish) Sony RX10 which I enjoy using hugely.
