Gulls or seagulls are seabirds of the family Laridae in the suborder Lari. They are most closely related to the terns (family Sternidae) and only distantly related to auks, skimmers, and more distantly to the waders. Gulls are typically medium to large birds, usually grey or white, often with black markings on the head or wings. They typically have harsh wailing or squawking calls; stout, longish bills; and webbed feet. Most gulls are ground-nesting carnivores which take live food or scavenge opportunistically, particularly the Larus species. Live food often includes crabs and small fish. Gulls have unhinging jaws which allow them to consume large prey. Gulls are typically coastal or inland species, rarely venturing far out to sea, except for the kittiwakes. 53535

The once verdant cornfields around here, the few that remain anyway, have withered into parched leaves and bone-dry stalks. They emanate eerie rustling sounds in response to even the slightest breeze. This is my favorite time of the growing season, even though it's the end phase. The visuals are simultaneously creepy and amazing. Yet I feel an odd sense of anxiety every time I hear a harvesting combine rumbling past the house. I always wonder if they are heading to one of the cornfields that I photograph. I have this completely unhinged sense of ownership for the fields I visit. The same feelings often develop around abandoned houses that I explore. For me it's a recurrent storyline that never ends well. Sooner or later I return to find only emptiness. The harvest is now over, but the emotion and even terror that played out here for me these past months lingers.

I like to wear my human skin outside, in disguise

I contort my body into something that you'd like

Have to sew my innards up, stitch 'em tight, I'm so shy

Hide my ten-foot tongue behind my Hollywood smile

I'm an entity, an apparition looking for a host

I'm darkness's scary sister, dissipate like smoke

I'm freaky, I'm a fetishist, I really like the toes

I unhinge my jaw to swallow you, I don't want to choke

A stairway to nowhere, unhinged windows and a broken front door...

Some honest blue sky and decent sunshine at last - hurrah! It even brought out 2 little white butterflies, first of the ‘summer’ - double hurrah!! And by way of celebration my wife broke out the hose pipe and hosed me down for my first decent wash of the year - thrice hurrah!!! There’s no such thing as electricity in Wales and we have no running water so the hose is fed from the river next to the house and connected to a hand pump powered by a pedal cycle and Mrs D works up a proper head of steam even in that heat I can tell you, fair knocked me off my feet! God bless Mrs D I say! Hurrah!

See what a bit of sunshine can do when you haven’t seen it for

so long…..

It can proper unhinge you is what. Init. Hurrah!!!!

Just switched from Aperture to Lightroom and this is my first upload. So far so good. It's retained loads of detail and the colour is pretty good (click through to full sized version - lots of texture there to explore).

The kelp gull (Larus dominicanus), also known as the Dominican gull, is a gull that breeds on coasts and islands through much of the Southern Hemisphere. The nominate L. d. dominicanus is the subspecies found around South America, parts of Australia (where it overlaps with the Pacific gull), and New Zealand (where it is known as the black-backed gull, the southern black-backed gull, mollyhawk – particularly the juveniles, or by its Māori name karoro). L. d. vetula (known as the Cape gull) is a subspecies occurring around Southern Africa. 29781

The way I felt after today's day at work.... a day of whining and crying and complaining and TMI. (not MY whining and crying... maybe a little bit of my complaining... but nothing that chocolate cake and DD iced milk couldn't fix!) One more day and I'm done with this week. Thank God!

Young Seagulls perched on a breakwater.

Juvenile seagulls look quite different from their parents, instead of the clean white with grey wings, first year juveniles have blotchy grey, black and white feathers on their wings, brown flecks on cream up their neck and head and a black beak. Second winter juveniles have less brown flecks on their necks, the cream coming through more, a lighter grey coming through on the upper wing areas and a pinker beak. By the third winter, gulls will have a whiter head and neck with less brown streaks, a light grey wing that still retains some brown dark grey feathers, and a yellowing beak. They become full adults, able to breed at the age of four years which may seem like a long time but seagulls have long lifespans, some reaching well over thirty years in life.

Gulls, or colloquially seagulls, are seabirds of the family Laridae in the suborder Lari. They are most closely related to the terns and skimmers and only distantly related to auks, and even more distantly to waders. Until the 21st century, most gulls were placed in the genus Larus, but that arrangement is now considered polyphyletic, leading to the resurrection of several genera. An older name for gulls is mews, which is cognate with German Möwe, Danish måge, Swedish mås, Dutch meeuw, Norwegian måke/måse and French mouette, and can still be found in certain regional dialects.

Gulls are typically medium to large in size, usually grey or white, often with black markings on the head or wings. They typically have harsh wailing or squawking calls; stout, longish bills; and webbed feet. Most gulls are ground-nesting carnivores which take live food or scavenge opportunistically, particularly the Larus species. Live food often includes crustaceans, mollusks, fish and small birds. Gulls have unhinging jaws which allow them to consume large prey. Gulls are typically coastal or inland species, rarely venturing far out to sea, except for the kittiwakes. The large species take up to four years to attain full adult plumage, but two years is typical for small gulls. Large white-headed gulls are typically long-lived birds, with a maximum age of 49 years recorded for the herring gull.

Gulls nest in large, densely packed, noisy colonies. They lay two or three speckled eggs in nests composed of vegetation. The young are precocial, born with dark mottled down and mobile upon hatching. Gulls are resourceful, inquisitive, and intelligent, the larger species in particular, demonstrating complex methods of communication and a highly developed social structure. For example, many gull colonies display mobbing behavior, attacking and harassing predators and other intruders. Certain species have exhibited tool-use behavior, such as the herring gull, using pieces of bread as bait with which to catch goldfish, for example. Many species of gulls have learned to coexist successfully with humans and have thrived in human habitats. Others rely on kleptoparasitism to get their food. Gulls have been observed preying on live whales, landing on the whale as it surfaces to peck out pieces of flesh. Wikipedia

I am quite sure that I know what I wish to be. However, in Mr Trump's unhinged mind there is only one person of relevance, himself, and all other people fall into two categories: those who are loyal to him and those who are not. The loyal ones will be 'rewarded', the others are degraded to the status of 'petitioners' who must kiss his a** in order to be heard. Free is none of them. Fuji X-Pro3.

Had planned to do some sort of Vintage Horror movie style with the insane female holed up in the family home somewhere down the lane that no one travels after dark.. but even I cannot be in this grim realm for too long.. in game it was rather intense and disturbing.. hopefully a little of that was captured for those who like that sort of thing....

This photogenic cottage constantly challenges me to create an atmospheric or nostalgic image. At least once, I've seen an artist set up her easel across the street to paint it. And the owners are always quick to mount holiday decorations. But it is slightly unhinged, after all.
