Liverpool's iconic Liver Building shrouded in sea fog wich gave brief moments where the two towers became visible for an image to be taken. The Image was taken from Seacombe on the other side of the River Mersey on the Wirral.

I haven't got out at home, it's been too cold. I was thinking about my holidays last summer and especially my visit to Florence. This shot shows the reflections of the Duomo, the Baptistery of St. John and Brunelleschi's Dome seen in a shop window in the Piazza del Duomo. I hear that they are having record cold weather as well.

These are raindrops not snowflakes and photographing in this direction was very difficult as the rain was straight into the camera! My contacts are so kind to me that I'm sure they will forgive the coarseness of quality! :-))

Another moment of misery to share with you!! I can't imagine why I have such a bad cold now!!

A Common Starling with the Sagrada Familia backdrop

You've seen the light from the outside, now this is the light from the inside.. The Rigg, Haweswater.

sehr helle Renaissance-Kirche ...

I'm showing you the vault of the crossing today because I was fascinated by its brightness and simplicity ...

The commission for the basilica was awarded to Michelangelo in 1552, but his sketchy designs were heavily modified ...

the justly famous Michelangelo Buonarroti, who made the dome of St. Peter's Basilica possible and created the statue of David, the Italian painter, sculptor, master builder (architect) and poet, the most important artist of the Italian High Renaissance and far beyond ...

I had two shots of the nave and transept, so I put them together and added the large rest in the corners by hand, which I do frequently and which can be labor-intensive and time-consuming ...

However, I realized again today that the picture then becomes too “small” and the effect weaker. So I separated the pictures again and here you can see the results ...

My travels around the UK with my son. June/July 2019 England.

Our last day in London.. On a visit to Greenwich.

Greenwich Park is a former hunting park in Greenwich and one of the largest single green spaces in south-east London. One of the Royal Parks of London, and the first to be enclosed, it covers 74 hectares, and is part of the Greenwich World Heritage Site.

Kalesas or horse-drawn carriages at the cobblestone street of Calle Crisologo, Vigan, Ilocos Sur. Vigan is a UNESCO World Heritage site. UNESCO refers to it as the “the best-preserved example of a planned Spanish colonial town in Asia. Its architecture reflects the coming together of cultural elements from elsewhere in the Philippines, from China and from Europe, resulting in a culture and townscape that have no parallel anywhere in East and South-East Asia.”

This image shows one of the lock systems in our area. This is only one of the four at Jone's Falls. I had such a great time that day as it is just prior to the tourist season for this area so I had the park area almost all to myself. Bliss!!

The small stone building on the left is a Blacksmith shop and there actually was a blacksmith working in there the day I was here. I have another shot that shows the smoke and glow from inside. I will post it later this week. This is best viewed large of course.

Saint Peter's Church (Dutch: Sint-Pieterskerk) in Leuven, Belgium, is a Roman Catholic church built in the 15th century in the Brabantine Gothic style. The church has a cruciform floor plan and a low bell tower that has never been completed. It is 93 metres (305 ft) long. It is located on the city's Grote Markt (main square), opposite the Town Hall. In 1999, the belfry and bell tower of the church was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the Belfries of Belgium and France site, in recognition of the civil importance and architecture of the belfries in the region.

The first church on the site, made of wood and presumably founded in 986, burned down in 1176. It was replaced by a Romanesque church, made of stone, featuring a West End flanked by two round towers like at Our Lady's Basilica in Maastricht. Of the Romanesque building only part of the crypt remains, underneath the chancel of the actual church.

Construction of the present Gothic edifice, significantly larger than its predecessor, was begun approximately in 1425, and was continued for more than half a century in a remarkably uniform style, replacing the older church progressively from east (chancel) to west. Its construction period overlapped with that of the Town Hall across the Markt, and in the earlier decades of construction shared the same succession of architects as its civic neighbor: Sulpitius van Vorst to start with, followed by Jan II Keldermans and later on Matheus de Layens. In 1497 the building was practically complete, although modifications, especially at the West End, continued.

Cinque Terre, which means five lands, is comprised of five small coastal villages on the Ligurian Sea. The coastline, villages and surrounding hillsides are part of the Cinque Terre National Park and are a UNESCO Heritage site.

Paths connect the villages of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterroso al Mare. You can also travel by train and ferry(weather permitting).

A simple shot, but belongs in the album :-)

Spruce Tree House was constructed between about 1211 and 1278 CE by the ancestors of the Pueblo peoples of the Southwest. The dwelling contains about 130 rooms and 8 kivas, or ceremonial chambers, built into a natural alcove measuring 216 feet (66 meters) at greatest width and 89 feet (27 meters) at its greatest depth. It is thought to have been home for about 60 to 80 people.

The cliff dwelling was first discovered in 1888, when two local ranchers chanced upon it while searching for stray cattle.

The interior of the 45 meter (147 ft) wide dome of the Il Duomo di Firenze (Florence Cathedral) features a sprawling mosaic decoration of The Last Judgment. Started in 1568 by Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari, and several other artists, it took 11 years to finish. The upper portion near the lantern gives the illusion of three-dimensional imagery, incredibly impressive considering that it is a 430-year-old work of art.

Florence Cathedral is the main church of Florence, and is one of the largest in Italy. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can climb the Duomo; I counted 462 steps, but supposedly there are 467, and it’s well worth the effort. Mid-way up there is a gallery where you can walk around and see this amazing fresco a lot closer than from the cathedral floor.

For this photo, I couldn't get my Nikon D60 above the protective glass to get a shot...but my iPhone 6s+ did the job just fine. I have to say that the camera on this device is surprisingly good.

As the Yellowstone river flows north from Yellowstone Lake, it leaves the Hayden Valley and plunges first over Upper Yellowstone Falls and then a quarter mile (400 m) downstream over Lower Yellowstone Falls, at which point it then enters the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

Cascading from the 590,000 year old Canyon Rhyolite lava flow, Lower Yellowstone Falls is the largest volume waterfall in the Rocky Mountains of the United States. These falls (44°43′05′′N 110°29′46′′W) are 308 feet ( 94 m) high, or nearly twice as high as Niagara Falls. The volume of water flowing over Lower Yellowstone Falls can vary from 680 cu ft/s (19 m3/s) in the autumn, to 8,400 cu ft/s (240 m3 /s) at peak runoff in late springtime. The flow rate of Lower Yellowstone Falls is much less than that of Niagara Falls, as the Yellowstone River is only 70 feet (21 m) at the point at which it goes over the lower falls, Where the Niagara River is 2,600 feet (790 m) in width as it approaches the crest line of Horseshoe Falls. This was viewed from Artist Point. The perspective was similar to those of Thomas Moron's (1871) and Ansel Adams' (1941) famous paintings and photographs on the same subject. Early morning light accentuated the yellow-orange colours of the steep canyon slopes on either side.
