Bare faced and ready for a faceup! Love her Yeti underbite!

(This is Angel, the sweetest boxer mix girl I've ever met. This poor girl was hit in the face by someone with a baseball bat, causing her jaw to break. It was never set properly and it healed like this, leaving her with a severe underbite. Breaks my heart to think what she has endured, and amazes me that she can still trust humans.)

Today I went again to Animal Compassion Network's adoption event at our local PetSmart. I screened families who wanted to adopt dogs, and managed to snap a few photos of the dogs looking for new homes. Again, beautiful dogs...hard to understand how they found themselves without homes.

— Meet ARMANDO! —

ARMANDO is a 4-year old male, neutered, 14-pound Chihuahua/Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher mix. He was rescued from the Redlands Animal Shelter after being picked up as a stray. He has a short, easy to care for coat, a unique pink stripe on his nose, and the cutest little underbite! These photos don't do this cutie justice.

This darling little boy is very shy and must to be adopted by a family who will continue to socialize him slowly. He is timid around strangers, especially men, but warms up to everyone with time. Once he gets to know you, he'll be your loyal velcro buddy for sure.

ARMANDO is crate trained, walks okay on a leash, rides well in the car, and is working on his house training skills. He gets along well with other small dogs and gentle children over the age of 8. He will make a perfect addition to one very lucky family.

Could it be with you?

ARMANDO is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and micro chipped. Come meet ARMANDO and I guarantee that you'll fall in love with this sweetheart.

Hi everyone! My name is Marjorie! Don't let the serious face fool you, I am a happy girl with a friendly, loving personality. I am an absolute delight and a couch potato in the making. I am about 4 years old and I weigh 45 lbs. I love taking walks and playing in the yard. When playtime is over, I am perfectly content to lounge and spend time with my people. I love being petted and scratched. I have the best underbite - so much personality that I make people smile all the time. When it's time for cuddles, I will lean in and melt into you for affection and a well-deserved belly rub. I just love to love. I also like to roll in the grass, meet new humans and wag my tail so hard that it hits me in the belly. I like treats a lot - any kind, any time, any place. I will sit on command like a good girl. I will chase a ball, tag it with my nose, then it's your job to go get it; afterall, you're the one who threw it. I walk pretty well on a leash -- I have places to go and friends to meet. I am very interested in playing with other dogs. I haven't met a "cat" yet, but if you have cats, I know a couple hoomans that would temperament test me. Come on people, help a girl out and get me a home! Please and thank you, because I am polite as can be. Please give me a chance to become part of your family! Adoption fee: $75. Adopt a pair: $115. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 60 days of free pet insurance and microchip. Apply online at www.pawsforliferescue.org

Arrived at my spot around 10:30AM, left at 6:10PM.

A little over 80F. and a light breeze. Perfect weather for hanging out for a few hours. There were a couple cars there, but I didn't see any people besides one guy who kept getting in/out of his Jeep. Okay, whatever.

10 minutes after getting there I heard the first train coming around the bend, and what a train it was, couple engines, and 78 autoracks in a row! What a way to start of my day.

15-20 minutes after I got to the spot, I messaged my friend Keith @railfanscajonpass that I was out there, he said he was on his way, he got there an hour or so later. By that time I'd already flicked 7-8 trains. One of the busiest days I've had in a long time. They just kept coming up and down the hill. I had planned to hike up the hill to look for a couple other spots to shoot from, but the trains just kept coming.

There's also some great under the bridges graff out at this spot, and I just didn't have time to hike over to it and flick it. There's also a spot close by that the RR stores ties, track, and equipment, I wanted to get some shots of that, again, no time.

Anyway, RRfans,(Keith) & Buddy hung out for another 5-6 hours until the sun dipped behind the mountains at about 6:00pm, and it was starting to get dark. Spent the day waiting, and listening for the engines chugging up the hill, or the horns blaring in the distance so we could finally jump up and do what we were both there to do. Him to film the trains and give his commentary, and me to get my flicks. He's a good dude to hang out with, good conversation, talk about life, problems, trains, etc.. Time just goes by so quick until the next train and we both get to work.

Saw lots of trucks, motorcycles, and loads of Jeeps drive through to go out exploring the local trails only to leave within' 20 minutes or so. There's miles and miles of trails out there, but it seems people get bored fast...

Had a great time, saw pieces from some of my favorite writers, and some writers I talk to occasionally.

It was a great day, and day I really needed personally, I've had a rough last few weeks, and I haven't been trackside in over a month. It was great to get out to the familiar sounds and smells of being out there next to the trains.

Backgrounds at this location are kind of boring, but the amount of freights and great pieces that come through here is crazy.

This gal is the most friendly — and the most picked on.

look at that underbite!

Seriously.

This girl was up for adoption at Pugapalooza. Sadly I do not remember her name. I do know that she got adopted though! I went to talk to the woman who adopted her and she was very rude and practically ignored me. It was pretty shitty and I kinda felt bad for this pug girl. Hopefully the woman is nicer to her than she is to humans.

He's so cute and one of the most flashiest...and he didn't have his underbite then!

Poppy, Tilly, & Pintada. There are two kinds of alpacas. These are Huacaya alpacas, (pronounced Wuh-kai-ya). Huacayas are fluffy like teddy bears and Suris have long shiny locks like very soft, slightly curly hair. Alpacas are bred specifically for their fiber. High quality fleece from both species fetches top dollar on the international market. Some hand spinners like to spin alpaca fiber mixed with cotton, wool or Silk. Alpaca fiber is used for making knitted and woven items, similar to wool. These items include blankets, sweaters, hats, gloves, scarves, ponchos, sweaters, socks, coats, bedding, and a wide variety of textiles.

Sometimes Dexter has an underbite.

John Heinz NWR

I was happy to spot "Zippy" munching on pond vegetation last night. Zippy is a Roman-nosed skewbald with a notable underbite. I've been documenting her life since I started visiting the refuge a couple of years ago. She was a mature doe then, so she must be five or six years old. She had two fawns again this year, though I only saw one of them last night.

In this undated hand out photo, Sebastian, a Persian cat with long black hair, sports gold crowns on his two large teeth, which grew sticking out from his lips in an underbite similar to a bulldog's. Concerned that his cat's exposed teeth could be damaged, Dr. David Steele a dentist from Alexandria, Ind., had gold crowns made for his cat pet. A nice profile shot showing his curled tail, stiff legs (his skin over his ribs is taut, too), the curled ears, underbite, and curved neck. When he walks he sort of bobs and reminds me of Eyore when he really gets going. We like to say that Jake doesn't know he's special.

There's a pair of butcher birds who proclaim in song throughout the day that the area around the units where i live is their territory.

I rarely see them. Or when i do, it's when i dont have my camera close by. But in the last month, i have managed to get a few photos of them.

This member of the pair appears to have an underbite (as opposed to overbite). The hook on the top beak should extend past the lower beak. As it is, it looks like the bird is unable to fully close its beak.

Still, it appears to have reached maturity, got a mate and a territory, so perhaps i shouldnt worry about him/her.

She is a leader of the pack, so her unique teeth don't hold her back! Keepers say she's just fine... no issues with her teeth or eating.

Or, as I like to call him, "the elephant with the underbite".

expect a lot of boring shots from me in the next week or so: I am practicing with my brand new AB800. I am IN LOVE with it, so much so that I can hardly wait to add a second one to my arsenal, plus gobs of accessories. (lottery gods, i just need a couple K!)

This Song Sparrow was seen at Upper Struve Slough. When I looked at my photos, I noticed the lower portion of the beak was longer than the upper part.
