'Uke Juke' starring the cast of BAKERSFIELD MIST

After the performance of Bakersfield Mist, cast members Paula Langton and Ken Cheeseman invited the audience to stay for music and song to benefit Shinsai, the international fundraising effort uniting to support the theatre community affected by the earthquake in Japan.

Ya' gotta' love a mermaid who plays the uke. Well, maybe it's not a uke but it's the right size.

Here are some pictures of my handmade cigar box uke ... which is incomplete. It still needs a bridge. I really like the way it looks now though! The inlayed star (my first time trying inlay... in case you couldn´t tell) is a river clam found in Redwood Falls, and so is the S in the soundhole. The wood of the neck was trashpicked, and the wood of the fingerboard is from a broken beach chair handle. The tuners are classical guitar tuners cut and carved to match. I can´t wait to get a sound out of this thing!

A nearly unplayable but still wildly entertaining instrument. In the collection at the National Music Museum (Vermillion, SD).

Archie teaching Tony some chords on the ukulele. Penny looks on in wonderment or is she thinking " is it time to go home yet?".

I've been playing around with it off an on today and love it! Granted, it's not the best uke. It has it's issues since it's a cheap uke, but it does the trick for me just fine until I upgrade it.

I'm working on basic chords and my strumming. I want to practice at least once a day.

My Kala tenor ukulele.

Guy playing the uke (2 chords over and over again...no singing) on the street in Waikiki. He gave me permission to take his picture. I hate to ask people for permission because they will then stop and "pose". This guy just kept doing what he was doing.

Hehehe, this amused me.

The 'uke' is the bottom of yaoi relationships.
