These two lone Mallard Ducklings where all that appeared to be left of this couple's brood. They guarded them closely, not allowing to stray too far off from dad or mum. Mallard mated pairs migrate to and breed in the northern parts of their range and build nests on the ground or in a protected cavity. They normally lay about a dozen eggs, and the incubation period lasts just under a month. Mallards are territorial during much of this period, but once incubation is well underway, males abandon the nest and join a flock of other males.
Two rams and two ewes.

Once and no more. And we, too,
once. And never again. But this having been once on earth — can it ever be cancelled?”

a ficus tree bought from a neighbor, and a carpet ordered via Etsy - making this space cozier for winter!
Red-eyed and Philadelphia right above our water feature.
Eventually they both came down and sat in the water which I haven't seen before.
They are more of a dip and dash bather.

There are few animals on Earth who work as well together as meerkats. These squirrel-size members of the mongoose family live in groups as large as 40, and everyone in the mob participates in gathering food, keeping a look out for predators, and taking care of the babies.
Two beautiful Red Admiral butterflies feeding on this butterfly bush. A rare sunny moment, we've had a lot of rain in the last couple of days.
