Awesome new Wall-E figure from Mattel.

Ahhh, the Keytar... one of the most underrated instruments of all time. This musician from LEGO CMF Series 20 hasn't given up on the thing. Just look at the passion he is putting into his music.

Super psyched to get my hands on a few of the minifigures from the upcoming LEGO Movie 2 sets. I'm really looking forward to picking these sets up when they are released in the new year, as well as seeing the movie.

For this build, I tried to mimic the scene from the trailer as close as possible. Wild Style and Emmet are looking down from a giant "S" (Think HOLLYWOOD sign). This was fun to put together, and I LOVE the new Wild Style look.

Anybody looking forward to the sets/film?

One of the most classic Indiana Jones lines. Sure, in Raiders Indy utters this zinger before descending into the Well of Souls, but I thought this setup would be more fun.

Thanks for looking and have a great day

Cinderella Castle was completed in July 1971, after about 18 months of construction.

Feels like this photo took me just as long to get right, and I'm still not even sure I did that.

Love that expression on Yondu's face :)

Used a red and green laser pointer to get the flare in this shot. Worked out pretty well, though I nearly blinded myself in the process.

The throne room scene from The Last Jedi remains my favorite part of the entire film. Snoke, Rey & Kylo... it's just overflowing with awesome. I have issues with The Last Jedi, but this scene alone redeems the movie for me. Gives me goosebumps...

Quite the surprise plot twist when Benny showed up in Endgame to defeat Thanos. Never saw that one coming ;)

Another quick Ninjago Movie shot before bed. Can't wait to finally see the film this week.

Going to wait a few more weeks before tackling any scenes from Endgame. As a dad with two kids, I know how hard it is for some people to get to the theater, and I don't want to be a douche bag who ruins the experience for anyone.

I'm a late-comer to the Marvel universe. It wasn't until Infinity War that I started to work backwards through all the films, but I was all caught up, and fully vested by the time Endgame rolled around. And it did not disappoint.

This shot was taken for a tutorial I am working on for ToyPhotographers.com on how to 'fake fire' in your photos.

Hoping to have it finished for posting soon.

Thanks for looking & have a great day

Finally got my hands on some Star Wars: Rogue One LEGO sets.

This K-2SO figure is the first buldable figure I've ever purchased, and the thing is awesome. It's much taller than I was anticipating, but the build and articulation are both wonderful. Chances are I'll be posting lost more photos of him in the future, if I can find other droids for him to play with that is.

Appearance wise, K-2SO is much different from The Force Awaken's BB-8 which we've all come to love. I can't wait to learn more about his character, especially with Alan Tudyk voicing him.

See you in December, Rogue One.

Beyond floored that there is a legitimate, Bettlejuice minifigure. Beetlejuice is one of my favorite movies and I'm loving the hell out of this ghost with the most minifig. The sandworm it comes with is a nice touch, but didn't fit into the shot. I'm sure I'll be fixing that for next time, though. BEETLEJUICE! BEETLEJUICE! BEETLEJUICE!!!

Having fun with this Ninjago minifigures. Lots of great looking scenes from the trailer to try and recreate. Looking forward to seeing the movie in September.

Modeled this after our favorite local sushi joint.

Garbage bag + fan + blue christmas lights = Lightspeed!

The kiddos got some Lego Super Mario Bros sets for the holidays, and while I initiatlly didn't think they were very photogenic, I love how this Whomp looks.

Still don't know squat about Ninjago, but I've picked up a couple of sets plus the complete series of minifigures. Having a good time shooting photos of this crew, and eager to see The Ninjago Movie when it hits theaters soon.

One of my favorite, LEGO Dimensions packs. Amazing to have Chell in LEGO form, and the Portal 2 levels in LEGO Dimensions were an absolute blast. Has me itching to go through Portal 2 again.

I wonder if Jabba was shown some kindness in his youth if his life would have turned out differently.

Things aren't looking good for our heroic, intergalactic, bounty hunter. Will Samus prevail? Stay tuned!

Custom Samus minifigure from MinifiguresHQ (Minifigure.com)

Quick shot for today made using a couple of flash lights, a green gel and white cardboard. Shot a time-lapse while setting up this shot - will link when I post to Youtube. Happy Friday everyone & thanks for looking

Couldn't resist this minifigure from minifigureHQ. Proud of my little Metroid build in the background there :)

Currently visiting my parents with a pocketful of minifigures and a minimal camera kit. Need to get creative with my shots here. Thankfully, my parents have lots of weird decorative stuff that can double as Martian landscapes.

Had some work to do tonight, so only had time for a simple shot. Working my way through The Freemaker Adventures, and I was happy to encoutner Dengar. As goofy as the show is, it's still nice to see other characters from the Star Wars universe make an appearance.

If anyone has tips on avoiding reflections or highlights on reflective surfaces, then please, by all means chime in. Take a look at that line on Finn's face from my flash. Try as I might, I could not get rid of it. I tried moving my flash around, changing the size of my light source, diffusing it - it just only seemed to get worse. Still so much to learn when it comes to lighting basics...

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season, and a wonderful new year!

Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays. From a galaxy far, far away...

Planned on shooting a Star Wars Rebels shot this evening, but ended up with another Garmadon... Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

Thanks to my buddy Ken for scoring this set for me. Excited to track down all these retired, Indiana Jones sets, just not so keen on the going rate for them.

Though it may not look like it, this was quite an elaborate setup. I had an entire canal behind the boat, courtesy of some Star Wars sets and random otherness.

I wish I could have done better with the lighting. I shot from a different perspective than normal, and didn't adjust my lighting enough.

Oh well... next time

More Wall-e fun

Loving this MetalBeard polybag. Bring on the rest of the LEGO Movie 2 sets!

Trying something different here. Typically, I lean on colors in my LEGO shots, but kept it black and white for Spider-Man Noir.

This is not actually a black and white photo, though. I just stuck with black and grey bricks in the build, and used a single, white light in the background.

What do you think? Thanks for looking

Can you just imagine Claptrap in the Star Wars universe? I think he and C-3PO would be best buddies. Not sure R2 would care for him, though.

I don't drink soda, but it's hard not to fall in love with these adorable bottles at Galaxys Edge.

Yoda vs terror dog. Who do think would win?

Hip Hop Girl was a big surprise for me in Series 20. I wasn't sure what to make of this figure, but ended up being super happy with her once I get her in front of my camera. Super cool hat/hair combo piece and nice printed legs. She comes with a book box and one of the posing stands that was first introduced in the LEGO DC CMF series.

Made some progress with regards to dealing with lighting & reflections. Still so much to learn though. I'm sure the process would be a bit easier if I wasn't using my phone & LEGO flashlights to try and light these scenes. Manfrotto has these cool looking LED lights that I'm thinking about picking up. Anyone ever mess around with those? Wondering if they're worth the price tag though as opposed to just picking up some less expensive LED flashlights... Hmmm...

Took my toys outside to play in the snow.

Had to shoot this twice, as originally I went out mid-day and the snow ended up pure white in the photo.

Re-shot a second time during sunset and got a bit more color and texture. Also froze my fingers off as it was significantly colder the second time around.

"Use your harpoons and tow-cables..."

This was my first shot messing around with a Sony A6000. I rented one from Borrowlenses to mess around with for a week while on vacation.

I want to get a feel for the camera to see if I can transition from my Sony A7 to the upcoming Sony A6300.

Don't get me wrong, I love my A7, I just need something with faster AF if I'm going to keep up with the kid.

What do you think? How does the shot compare to my previous Star Wars LEGO photos?

Thanks
