This simple lookout stand took me forever to build. It went through numerous iterations before settling in on the build pictured above. The railing pictured might of well have been spring loaded as the slightest bump would cause it to explode.
It was like taking a picture of a time bomb, as the thing would only stay together for so long.
This was another idea I got from the Star Wars Card Trader app. Lots of great images to be found in that app if you haven't checked it out yet.
Thanks for looking and have a great day
Rush job, but I'm so hyped for Rogue One after that new teaser. Can't wait until December gets here.
I'll admit, I'm hooked on the Pokemon Go. Say what you want about the game, it's something my family has been having fun playing together, it gets us outside and going, and I see so many people around town enjoying small parks & memorials that up until now were largely ignored. Those are some pretty big wins in my book.
Sadly, I've been neglecting my LEGO friends as I try to "catch em' all" but I'll get back to posting more shots soon.
Thanks for looking & have a great day!
I wanted to shoot something to show respect to Carrier Fisher who unfortunately passed away today. I had to improvise on the minifigure, but hopefully it does her justice.
Rest in peace. You were a princess, a leader and an inspiration both on screen and off.
TOMORROW!!!!! Cannot wait!!!
Simple shot for today. Only thing I did during the exposure was to put an orange gel over the lower portion of my lens to add a little haze to the image.
Made some adjustments to exposure, contrast, highlights and saturation along with white balance in Lightroom and then exported the pic you see above.
Not bad for a lunch break, huh?
Thanks for looking and have a great day
Man, this shot gave me a run for my money. I shot over a dozen different takes and angles and just couldn't seem to get what I wanted.
(ROGUE ONE SPOILERS BELOW!!!!)
My original idea was to have Darth Vader in the foreground of the shot, but I struggled with making it work, and eventually gave up. I couldn't get his sabre to look like it was the light source, and positioning him was awkward.
So I opted to take him out thinking that anyone who has seen Rogue One knows what these rebels are running from.
While photographing this shot gave me trouble, the build was super fun to do. It went through several iterations, but ended up pretty cool in the end. I'll throw up some shots of it before I dismantle things.
So, what do you think? Any constructive criticism on this on that you care to share?
Thanks and have a great day
Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. Hope your family get togethers are less awkward than this scene.
Been a long time since I've watched the classic trilogy. Need to fire it up again soon.
Doesn't get any more epic showdown between Darth Vader and Luke.
Still experimenting with lighting these LEGO shots, and doing so on the cheap. I picked up a couple of LED flashlights to experminet with. Dealing with glare is still a nightmare challenge for me. Not at all pleased with how Poe's face turned out, but I'll keep at it. Thanks for looking and have a great day
This is dedicated to all those who stood up today to peacefully protest and make their voices heard around the globe. Your signal came in as strong as Jyn & Cassian transmitting the Death Star plans to the rebellion.
You are all an inspiration.
You are hope.
You are The Rebellion.
May The Force be With you.
DIdn't get to shoot any fireworks from the parks, but did the best I could from our balcony.

Sorry, I can't get enough of the expression on this minifigures face. LEGO really did a bang up job on the Robin/Dick Grayson figure. So much so that I'm going to have to fight every urge not to overuse him in my photos.
This shot popped into my head as I was getting my son ready for bed. I originally pictured a long line of stormtroopers on the right hand side with Kylo and Phasma walking past them on the right. Somehow the setup morphed into what you see above though, re-using some set peices from a previous photo.
Hope it makes you chuckle.
Thanks for looking and have a great day
Still playing around with lighting to see what results I can squeeze out of a couple of LED flashlights and a bunch of colored gels.
For this shot, I had two flashlights, one with a red gel on the left and one with a blue gel on the right. It created a nice purple mix, but I added a bit more purple highlights with my iPhone LED and a purple gel.
I tried for a while getting the lightsabers to pop more in the photo, but it's difficult to get those suckers to truly glow. If anyone has any tips, I'm all ears. I ended up just punching them up a bit in Lightroom after the shot was taken.
Thanks a ton to DougJax for the idea.
ugh... Poe's right hand is upside down.... oh well, I'm too tired to reshoot this right now, so pretend you didn't notice - thanks.

Been enjoying The Freemaker Adventures much more than I expected. One of my favorite characters is Naare, the seemingly kind-hearted Jedi with... well... lets just say a dark side.
Ok, so this scene didn't end up in Rogue One, but still I couldn't resist recreating it in LEGO. Picked up some palm trees and assorted LEGO foliage off of eBay so chances are you'll be seeing more tropical scenes in the future.
Thanks for looking & have a great day
After today's Rogue One panel at Star Wasrs Celebreation 2016, my hype for Rogue One has hit Lightspeed. Looks like it's going to be quite the roller coaster ride. Can't wait to see the movie, and get my hands on the upcoming LEGO sets for more photos. Thanks for looking and have a great day.
My original shoot for today turned out to be a dud, so I quickly put together this scene as a plan B.
I attempted to make some smoke by using some torn, translucent paper in the foreground. Worked... okay I suppose.
I wish I spent a bit more time on the background, or just blurred it into oblivion. Just looks boring and half-assed. Oh well, they can't all be winners :)
I tried to pose the hovertank pilots as they appeared in the movie, which required remove the legs form the one on the top and completely beheading the one in the middle.
This was a fun LEGO set to build. I wasn't enthusiastic about it when I first picked it up, but I dig it now.
Thanks for looking and have a great day
Not crazy about how this one turned out. It was shot using a piece of plexiglass, an ipad, and the LED light from my iPhone.
I dunno, felt I could have done more with it.
What do you think?

Picked Watto up a few weeks back at the Wayne Toy Show. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with him, but I had this weird sort of vision of him working in a toy shop surrounded by Jawas.
Trying to bring that idea to life with this image, as he works on restoring a model of a T-16 Skyhopper.
There was a Jawa, Teeka, who was looking for one for some reason.
Can't wait for Rogue One in December. The trailer has got me on the edge of my seat.

Temple of Doom is my favorite Indiana Jones movie, and one of my favorite movies of all time. That said, I've been trying to pick up some of the retired LEGO Indiana Jones sets for photos, but they are not coming cheap.
This one however was assembled via a few Bricklink orders.
I'm not 100% happy with the shot. The bridge came together awesome, but shooting it proved to be difficult. I couldn't get the straight on angle to work, so I opted for a different perspective than in the film.
Hope you like, thanks.
Hang on lady, we going for ride!
Didn't have time for anything fancy today, so just a quick shot before heading to bed.
I did spend a ton of money on BrickLink today, so lots of new and fun stuff on the way.
Caught this shot of K-2S0 in the Chinese Rogue One Trailer and knew I had to shoot it. Only five more days to go, can't wait!
Everything was done in camera using the flashlight on my iPhone and a red gel - though I did add (an attempt at) some slight muzzle flash via Lightroom's Radial filter.
I've been playing with that filter quite a bit, and it's pretty neat what you can do with it.
Thanks for looking, appreaciate any constructive criticism.
thanks
My hype for Rogue One is hiting critical mass thanks to the latest trailer. I've been pouring over the the footage from the trailer looking for shots ot try and emulate with LEGO, and the image of the deathstar faintly looming over a planet in the background was too good to pass up.
This was a fun one to shoot, though I wish I added a bit more detail in the foreground as the shot from the trailer is pretty crisp. I may try a reshoot, but for now what do you think?
Hat's off to the man who coined the 'Rogue One' callsign, Mr Bodhi Rook. He had quite a busy day after defecting from the Empire, and if it wasn't for him, those Death Star plans would never have made it off of Scarif.
For your service to the Rebellion, we salute you!
PS - How on earth did he manage to keep his goggles throughout the entire movie!?!?!
I can't get enough of building these Scarif sets. Hopefully I have some shot ideas left by the time the official LEGO Scarif base set comes out in March.
Thanks for looking. Feedback is always welcome, thanks!
Was great to see a Sabine-centric episode of Rebels. I cant' wait to see where her story arc goes. Hopefully we'll get an updated minifigure at some point as well to match her new hair style.
As for the shot - if anyone has tips on making a darksaber work in-camera, I'm all ears.
I ended up cutting a small slit in a black piece of paper, holding a flashlight behind it, and then holding the whole thing behind Sabine's blade.
A second after the shutter opened, I would slide another piece of black paper over the slit and then move it out of the shot so the background would be visible during the rest of the
I shot about a million takes before throwing in the towell and calling it quits with this shot. Not a perfect glow around the blade, but it turned out decent enough.
What do you think?
Still getting a feel for the Sony a6000 I'm renting from Borrowlenses. I'm liking it a lot, though I do miss the larger LCD from the A7.
