Light painting, or light drawing, is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, or by moving the camera itself during exposure The technique is used for both scientific and artistic purposes, as well as in commercial photography.
The term 'portrait painting' can also describe the actual painted portrait. Portraitists may create their work by commission, for public and private persons, or they may be inspired by admiration or affection for the subject. Portraits are often important state and family records, as well as remembrances.

Quand on fait un sculpty, il est important de savoir ce que l'on désire fabriquer. ^^

These are the materials needed to built one.
As seen in the picture, you'll need
- 2x 5mm 2pin ~3V fast flash RGB LED's (got mine cheap on eBay)
- 2x 1.5V AG1 button battery
- 1x two-way micro switch with little holes in the pins (on/off capability, not a momentary switch)
- short piece of full-core wire (black in image)
- short piece of soft-core wire (green in image)
- ballpoint pen's spring, NOT coated with any plastic (insert McGuyver-joke here)
- ~7cm 10/8 PUR tube, clear (10mm outside, 8mm inside diameter; 7cm's do not include clippings and blunders)
- ~22cm clear acrylic rod, XT (XT is easier to form when heated, avoid GS; 22cm do not include clippings and blunders)
- short piece of 1mm to 0.5mm heat shrinking tubing (black in image)
- very small piece of aluminium tape, reflective on adhesive side, too (not really necessary, but might improve overall effect a bit)
Before I begin stitching Teresa Wentzler's Tapestry Cat, there is much to be done to prepare.
I bought a yard of this, which is 22x72. It is 30 count Murano Wedgewood.
I wanted to check that the 22" side would accommodate my design, so I folded the side with the edge in half and counted stitches. You can see the brown thread--beginning at the 11" mark, I marked off with a running stitch where each of the 10 stitches were. You can see this gives me a very generous border. Perfect.
I made these with a tutorial by Megan of Not Martha.
