this little do-dad is the arm that swings up and down as you sew. it should always be in the up position (as it is here) when you thread your machine.
Extended endpoints with new balls radially outwards along spiral using the 18 balls removed from the inner spiral spaces. Add three balls to each side where there was a bump in the spiral. Note the polarity carefully to create the patterns shown.
