My boyfriend tripped when we had just began our walk in the woods. It sounded like he had kicked a rock. Turns out, he accidentally kicked this little dude! All was well with the turtle and he "ran" away perfectly well soon after this photo.

This snapping turtle was about three feet away from our tent when we all saw each other. She froze, deliberated for fifteen minute, then set off in search of a different spot (far from humans!) in which to lay her eggs.
