Found in our front yard (Myra bed 1, N side) June 21, 2015. 93*, sunny. Wet lawn from a week of rain. This turtle was also found in our front yard on May 17, 2015, and on June 19, 2011.

Just lucky I came across this turtle a few minutes before the mower came through. I moved him to safe ground and hope he stayed put until the mowing was finished.

This turtle was crossing the road.

Timing is everything, I spotted this female snapping turtle digging a hole to lay her eggs in right next to a bike path. Atleast four eggs were deposited into this nest.

I think I have a headache....

I got a flat tire while riding bicycle today, which sucked. This big snapping turtle was hanging out on the road right where I had to pull over. I tried to move him so he wouldn't get hit, but he hissed at me, thrashed around, tried to bite me and whip me with his tail! I said, "fine, if you want to get hit that's your business!" and left him be.

Driving down one of the many side roads in Tobermory, we were halted by this Snapper crossing. We stopped, got out took a few pics and he was on his way. I must say for a turtle this guy was "fast".

the easiest way to do this model is to cut a 39 cm square and mark it. if you insist on purism, you will not get a satisfactory result (too many creases).

Thanks to one of the connections I've made on Flickr, Byron (diamondbpp) I have learned that this is a Blanding's Turtle, which according to some online research is a threatened species in Wisconsin. Byron guesses she was looking for a place to lay her eggs.

An African Helmeted Turtle (Terrapin) suddenly arrived in our garden the other day out of nowhere - there are no likely bodies of water around where we could think he came from. We have placed him in the care of a wildlife organisation who will place him in a suitable (wild) environment!

I heard splashing off the peer after dusk - couldn't see into the water at all, but guessed focal distance, mounted my flash....! Just got the photos back, what a beauty! What luck! Looks like a sunny day too.
