I will never forget this very moment.
I was snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef when a giant sea turtle, the size of me swam beneath me. I didn't think I'd got any photos of my new friend, so when I got back on the boat and found this picture I was more than excited.
I like to visit my old friend, the Snapping Turtle. In another pond I like to visit, the Painted Turtles have all disappeared and I was wondering if he had buried himself in the mud yet (11/8/2001).

Shukkeien is a small stroll garden, worth an hour of your time in Hiroshima. Here is one of its turtles. Interestingly, Shukkeien means "shrunken scenery garden", so called because the park displays famous Chinese scenery in miniaturized form with a pond, small islands, bridges and various plants.
I zoomed in for this one. Someone saw me taking his photo and stopped by. When he tapped it on its shell near its head, it was in attack mode. They can move more quickly than you'd expect. It was a big one too; the shell alone was more than a foot long, back to front.
