The world-famous Reynisfjara shore, near the village Vik in Myrdalur on Iceland's South Coast, is widely regarded as the most impressive black-sand beach in Iceland… Reynisfjara is a black pebble beach and features an amazing cliff of regular basalt columns resembling a rocky step pyramid, which is called Hálsanef. Out in the sea are the spectacularly shaped basalt sea stacks Reynisdrangar. The area has a rich birdlife, including puffins, fulmars and guillemots. The waves at Reynisfjara are especially strong and unpredictable, and fatal accidents have occurred at this beach, so people are advised to take extra care when visiting the area. According to folklore, two trolls attempted to drag a ship to land but were turned to stone as daylight broke, turning them into the Reynisdrangar stacks, clearly visible from the beach. The building was inspired by a sculpture "Turning Torso" by Calatrava himself. Turning Torso consists of nine cubes with a total of 54 stories, with a 90° twist from base to top. The top two floors boast the exclusive meeting rooms of Turning Torso Meetings. Read more on turningtorso.com.

Been wanting to take that kind of shot for awhile. Being in a big ass wheelchair tends to turn kids' heads to the point of them not looking where they're going anymore. It's kind of funny to me...

On tonight's evening news, the weather man predicted we've reached a turning point for this Winter's coldest temperatures. The coming week will bring warmer temperatures and even a bit of rain. Mind you, this is the same fellow that only a few weeks ago, predicted the month of February will be colder then usual. So we shall see. In the mean time, I'll try a selenium tint on this photo from December 26th, when it was indeed very cold and snowy.
