She Can't Save Herself, So Why Try To Save Anyone Else?

This was a tough scene to capture! Because of the sick dynamic range I decided to keep the filters in the bag and go for the multiexposure approach and blend manually. Even though I´m not thrilled about the final result, it did turn out quite nice. Hope it looks ok to you guys as well!

The predawn light was so soft and the colors wonderfully intense and almost surreal in this Civil Twilight 2 minute exposure at Convict Lake. It didn't take long for reality to set in. Within about 5 minutes the light quickly increased turning harsher and more yellowish. The magic was gone. Yet another reminder to me to arrive at location and start shooting early for best light and those special moments.

Luis, Bärbel and Sweety's journey continued when they had had their fill of Hot Dogs and had seen the Statue of Liberty, and this time Luis rang the magic bell:

LUIS: “Oh, there are beautiful temples here, just look !”

SWEETY: “I discovered a teapot that looks like an elephant, you can even do gymnastics on it.”

LUIS: “But there are also lots of monkeys here in (reads the sign) In-do-nesia.”

BÄRBEL: “Exactly, and one of them has stolen our magic bell !”

Turning to the monkey: “Look, would you like a banana ? I'll give it to you if you give me the bell back ...”

(To be continued ...)

Timepiece by Conrad Shawcross, at the Roundhouse, in Camden, London.

A bespoke installation for the Roundhouse, Shawcross' Timepiece involved 3-lights, hanging off arcing arms, that rotate for the hours, minutes and seconds. Added to this is the gnomon (shadow-caster) of a sundial rising from the centre of the room, turning the 24-equilatterally spaced iron pillars of the Roundhouse into a functioning clock.

Long exposure, shot with a Nikon D7000 and a Nikkor AFS DX 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6G lens. This was actually composed of two separate long exposures, merged and processed in GIMP and tweaked in Photoscape.

Last Sunday evening whilst out for our walk we noticed that many of the farmers were out busy in their fields, taking advantage of the lovely weather. Looking across to the right of the picture in the distance you can see the spire of St. Mary’s Church in the small village of Cottonstones.

Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.
