Having decided to go out and snap the northbound Whistler tour I couldn't believe my luck when, in the space of a few minutes, a southbound Shed crossed Dutton Viaduct to be followed shortly afterwards by this Tug. The Shed, snapped from the other side, never made the cut but I thought Tug had merit, especially seeing as they've been scarce along this stretch of the West Coast Mainline in recent times.

GBRf Tug 60085 puts down the power on the climb out of Wakefield with a fully loaded Biomass replenishment for Drax. Passing the remains of Oakenshaw Junction, where, through the trees to the left is the spur from the L&Y up to the once very busy London - Scotland Midland Main Line, now just a truncated freight branch.
I’ve tried to open up the traditional Oakenshaw view by taking a set of vertical frames and constructing in Photoshop a wide winter panorama.

It's good to meet old friend 6H43 again, even if she is running a bit later these days. And yesterday, in the capable hands of DBS Tug 60017, she sure-footedly tops the rise at Guide Bridge with the 11.10 Pendleton - Tunstead Sidings, and makes ready for the sinuous curves through the station.
My first visit to Guide Bridge since the late 70s / early 80s when the class 76s reigned supreme so it was good to see a few signs of the old railway still in situ, not least of which the original 1500v DC catenary masts. Guide Bridge station itself bears little resemblance to the one I visited back then although one or two of the original buildings just about survive. The original four platforms are now two, and the reverse curves essentially slew the old main-line to what used to be the slow-lines through the station.

What looks like a small gas tanker is seen here being guided into Valletta harbour by a pair of tugs. In the foreground a number of small fishing boats are seen on the somewhat basic quay.

The tug PAUL L. LEUDTKE is upbound in early morning light.
Built in 1988, by Terrebonne Fabricators Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #29) as the Edward E. Gillen III for Edward E. Gillen Towing Company of Mequon, Michigan.
In 2013, the tug was acquired by Luedtke Engineering Company of Frankfort, Michigan. Where she was renamed as the Paul L. Luedtke.
Powered by two, Cummins KT38-M diesel engines. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 1,800 horsepower.
Picked up this little beauty on "ShipTrader", Commercial tug vehicle with only 23 years of service, it has been carefully modified for civilian use, which makes it very sought after as engine mods can make it the fastest ship in it's class!
An old rusted tug boat sits on a trailer above the waters of Alliford Bay. The old boat appears to be retired after a long, hard working life of collecting logs from the log sort yard into log booms in the bay. Moresby Island, Haida Gwaii, BC.
