I leaned out the barn widow to catch a picture of the neat lighting effect on a tree, when I saw Angela sprinting across the lawn.

Hi All
A few snaps to record our last day out in the sun (for a change).As Tim has
already said "Thanks to all those turned up on Tuesday for combat with the
gorse on Maulden Heath. The weather was kind and we had a good day - we cut
down plenty of gorse and, even better, managed to burn it all and leave the
site nice and tidy."
We did have a very well started fire which Dave Lowe managed very
professionally, keeping the footprint very small. From a distance his neat
column of white smoke was very impressive against the bright morning low
autumnal sunlight. The rest of us made a really good dent in the large area
of gorse and areas of scrub were efficiently levelled by the brush cutter
trio of Moffat/Buxton/???.
Catering was again outstanding with Roger's flapjack and Ros's lemon drizzle
slice to go with first tea. At lunch John & Audrey supplied hotpot and
another excellent fruit pudding and as always all that rosie lea.
Although the sun was bright, wild life was a bit thin but Sue Raven and I
disturbed a Woodcock, Dave Clarke seemed to attract a small collection of
Gorse shieldbugs (Piezodorous lituratus), and the hillside was dotted with a
nice collection of Parasol Mushrooms (Macrolepiota procera).
Next week's task is tree planting at Sandy Smith Nature Reserve. We need to
plant quite a few trees at Sandy Smith this winter - approximately 6,500 to
be more precise - and we now have a plan. Many of you will be pleased to
know that the plan does not involve Scots pine and is based on planting more
of species that are already found on the site. Unfortunately, the areas to
be planted aren't adjacent to the parking area!
Unfortunately I do not expect to be around over the next two weeks so
hopefully will see you all again in early December.

This is probably the cutest thing ever! The big hand is my cousin, Cody. And the teeny hand is my neice, Isabelle. <3 I took a TON of pictures in the past two days. So, many more are on their way!!
