Daily App Experiment #292 : "Muzacal Chairs" - For yesterday's #appsperiment, I took two photos using the same #hipstamatic set up (and taken from the same relative position) and merged them using #trueHDR. Today, I did a similar project, but switched my "lenses" and "film" in Hipstamatic between shots. The end result is kind of cool. You can tell that even though I was trying to stay still, the camera angle did change slightly (hence the effect on the chairs). #daily_appsperiment
A beautiful historic c1849 barn in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, built by Sidney Rigdon, one of the leading contenders to head the Mormon church following the death of Joseph Smith, Jr.. After he didn't win the leadership, he left and brought his followers back to Pennsylvania and set up a settlement known as New Jeruselum. In the brickwork, you see a horse and this is supposed to be an image of Christ riding a donkey. It's pretty impressive brickwork. Unfortunately, the current owner is pushing to have the property rezoned commercial. If he gets his way, he might be tearing this historic barn down.
Luckily I had my iPhone with me. Used the TrueHDR and Rays apps for capture & processing.

An iPhone 4 TrueHDR sunrise shot, processed and posted on location with Instagram Lomo: instagr.am/p/8ATC/
More TrueHDR on the iPhone, shot at 11th Street and Smallman Street at the lower end of the Strip District. In the distance on the left is Penn Station, to the near right is the David Lawrence Convention Center, beyond that Federated Investors Tower and the Doubletree. int he center is a old Pennsylvania Railroad trestle that connects the Conemaugh Division and the Fort Wayne Division with Penn Station, behind that is the Geyhound Bus Terminal.
Today's new Decim8 update features a new Doc Pop inspired effect called "Kompliance". The photo above was run through Kompliance, then re-merged with the original photo using TrueHDR.
Day 35 - Feb 4th: Rainy Departure
Frankfurt Airport, leaving Gate A32 for Brussels on a Lufthansa 737-500. Across the apron you can see the brand new Terminal A+ (with an A380 docked). I do get an airport picture once every week in my 365 project!

Stuck at home again today because of the blizzard (no really!) here in DC.
Here is an iPhone shot of one of my favorite things. It's a rebranded Bodum press I bought from Starbucks about 4 years ago. It instantly turned me into a coffee snob. I can honestly count the number of times I've been inside a Starbucks on my hands, but I'm a huge fan of their whole beans. This is "Columbia" brewing.
I used the iPhone app Pro HDR to combine two photos. I've decided I like this much better than TrueHDR because you can adjust the brightness, contrast, etc. before saving. TrueHDR literally mashes the images together and over-saturates everything.
This wreck at Jurby Head, Isle of Man, is the wreck of the steam trawler Passages, of Fleetwood. She ran aground in a gale on 3 December 1931. The wreck was bought by a local farmer to act as a sea defence which is why she still remains on shore and was not salvaged fully. It is only exposed at low tide.

Today I woke up to find a giant box with my name on it. Inside was lots of giddy goodies.
These are just three (including card) of the wonderful gifts I received!
Thanks Dad for the Drobo, and thanks Rachel for the shoes, belt, etc. I love you all!!
My EXIF
Camera: iPhone 3GS
Lighting: Overhead compact fluorescent lights.
Processing: First, I merged two images together using the TrueHDR app. Second, I used the Helga setting in CameraBag.
I've been playing around with the TrueHDR app on my iPhone. This was shot on the border of Lawrenceville to the left and Bloomfield to the right on Penn Avenue and Main Street.
Note the Ghost ad and the Shepard Fairy "Obey" sign. I was born a block or so from here at St. Francis Hospital, now the location of Childrens Hospital, the red brick building on the left in Lawrenceville.
Daily App Experiment 407: "paths" - two shots from Market St, stitched together using #truehdr, with some additional cleanup in #snapseed. #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
View towards the giant flag on top of the Australian Commonwealth Parliament complex, looking west along Brisbane Avenue. A hint of color in the western sky at sunrise on Australia's national day.
It was necessary to crop the photograph back very harshly to obtain this composition, which certainly exposes the resolution shortcomings of the iPhone 4 camera. However, the result is still pleasing ... at least to me :-))
Barton, ACT, Australia.
Photograph taken with an iPhone 4 camera using the TrueHDR bracketed exposure app. Snapseed used to rotate and crop the image, before applying overall and selective lighting adjustments. Iris used to resize the image back to standard 1936 x 1936 pixel size. A simple rounded black border added to the image using Camera+. Digital camera speckle noise attenuated and final lighting changes applied using PaintShop Pro X4.

Shot in TrueHDR in my iPhone 4. They swap in some red & gren lenses on the floodlights during the festive winter holiday shopping season.
Another TrueHDR shot with the iPhone. This is the view from the 12th Floor Heinz 57 Center looking South towards Mount Washington, the almost vertical line in the trees above the P&LE Railroad Station in the Monongahela Incline. Red vertical line dead center is the large steel sign for the Warner Theater, to the left is the Oliver building and behind that the Park Building, the Bank Tower with its large Ghost Ad is to the right, the Gothic structure is the Episcopal Church.
