The historic La Guli pastry shop in Astoria, NY. Founded in 1937 and in the same location all those years.
Progressive Field viewed from a rather filthy 11th-floor hallway window in the Hilton Garden Inn Cleveland Downtown. Need to bring a 4x8 sheet of black card stock next time to block the hallway reflections on the left half of the photo. Asked the night manager for permission to take a photo from the reflectionless, flat rooftop, and was denied • 2013 • iPhone 4s with TrueHDR camera app. Post processed in DxO Optics Pro 8.3 (Apple iPhone 4s module) plus Photoshop Elements tweaks • Companion photo to www.flickr.com/photos/mathersteve/9659306424/ and www.flickr.com/photos/mathersteve/9711762720/
New York City's Grand Central Terminal, built 1913. It covers an area of 48 acres and it is the largest train station in the world by number of platforms it has, 44, with 67 tracks along them. The sculpture with clock is the "Glory of Commerce",1911-14 by Jules-Felix Coutan. The clock is 13 feet in diameter and is the largest example of Tiffany glass in the World. The central figure of Mercury is 28 feet high and represents Transportation and Commerce. He is flanked by Vulcan on the left, representing Labor and Minerva on the right representing Thought. The towering Met-Life building adds a modern backdrop to the Beaux-Arts beauty of the Terminal.

This wreck at Jurby Head, Isle of Man, is the wreck of the steam trawler Passages, of Fleetwood. She ran aground in a gale on 3 December 1931. The wreck was bought by a local farmer to act as a sea defence which is why she still remains on shore and was not salvaged fully. It is only exposed at low tide.
It's not been the best past 24 hours for me. Yesterday after uploading my photo of the day I went out for a walk to try and take some more photos. Unfortunately during that process I managed to fall on the ice and injured my ankle. I went to the hospital this morning and fortunately it's not fractured but just a bad sprain (the things we do to get a good photo eh). Anyway, I am now on crutches which is making todays work as Sound engineer on the Dweeb Tour very difficult. I've managed to get the PA setup and running with a little help from the band members and other crew. Unfortunately the bad ankle has meant that I haven't managed to get out and take photos today. This is the only photo I've taken today and it was taken across the street from where the gig is happening tonight.

A chilly landscape with dramatic clouds located along the historic Lincoln Highway near the village of St. Thomas.
One of the many foggy winter mornings that Canberra is blessed with (?). This one produced a rich atmosphere with the sunlight just penetrating the grey. Looking in this direction, I felt for the many travellers stuck in the airport terminal, somewhere out there beyond sight through the fog.

A classic 1928 Movie Palace in Jersey City, New Jersey. Recently it was restored by the Jehovah Witnesses who have used it as an Assembly Hall since 1983. It is open to visitors on the weekends.

It's Lahaina Noon in Honolulu. The sun was directly overhead at 12:28 pm on May 27, 2011, so shadows were at a minimum.

Daily app Experiment #265 "Parade" - shot during the #opbart protest today. I used the regular camera app and a 2X telephoto lens for iPhone to get the original picture. Then created a red copy and a black and white copy in Camera+. I used #truehdr to merge those two copies into a final image, then tried using #primasnap to bring out the details a little more. #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment

Daily App Experiment #292 : "Muzacal Chairs" - For yesterday's #appsperiment, I took two photos using the same #hipstamatic set up (and taken from the same relative position) and merged them using #trueHDR. Today, I did a similar project, but switched my "lenses" and "film" in Hipstamatic between shots. The end result is kind of cool. You can tell that even though I was trying to stay still, the camera angle did change slightly (hence the effect on the chairs). #daily_appsperiment
