The Golden Triangle is one of Asia's two main illicit opium-producing areas. It is an area of around 950,000 square kilometres that overlaps the mountains of four countries of Southeast Asia: Myanmar (Burma), Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. (Other interpretations of the Golden Triangle also include a section of Yunnan Province, China.) Along with Afghanistan in the Golden Crescent and Pakistan, it has been one of the most extensive opium-producing areas of Asia and of the world since the 1920s. The Golden Triangle also designates the confluence of the Ruak River and the Mekong river, since the term has been appropriated by the Thai tourist industry to describe the nearby junction of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar.

I wanted to add depth and a different element than I have before in my photos.

It may look nice, but I had to work on it a large parte of the evening ans even in the morging to go and fly again. Over the year the kite had become less stable. So I decided to shorten the yellow flaps. You can se at the top that de yellow plps left and right of the spar are bended by the wind. So I shortened them. This is the only kite of my beehive family that has 2 mm carbon spars in every seam. That wasn't a bad idea 10 to fifteen years ago. Today (16 november) y flew better ten ever before. Y put it that hight that it was to high to take pictures.

On the Tube, somwhere. East London line, I think.

The completed isosceles triangle quilt. As a whole, it looks pretty good. Up close, it looks a little sloppy, which I could've prevented if I wanted to spend more time fixing individual triangles. And doings lots more measuring.

I'm starting to pick up the pace now. This triangle platter is a mixture of underglazes & sgraffito technique. Only took me 2 classes (x4 hours).

I started this at Sewing Summit 2013 in Jeni Baker's class.

The Golden Triangle (Burmese: Shwe-Tri gan; Chinese: 金三角; pinyin: jīn sān jiǎo; Thai: สามเหลี่ยมทองคำ; Vietnamese: Tam giác Vàng) is one of Asia's two main illicit opium-producing areas. It is an area of around 950,000 km2 that overlaps the mountains of four countries of Southeast Asia: Myanmar (Burma), Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. Along with Afghanistan in the Golden Crescent and Pakistan, it has been one of the most extensive opium-producing areas of Asia and of the world since the 1920s. Most of the world's heroin came from the Golden Triangle until the early 21st century when Afghanistan became the world's largest producer.[1]

The Golden Triangle also designates the confluence of the Ruak River and the Mekong river, since the term has been appropriated by the Thai tourist industry to describe the nearby junction of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar.

I spent the day with my mother. We went shopping and usually I hate shopping, but it was nice getting to hang out with her before I move across country. This is the new ring I got.

It felt so good to do something other than the usual pen drawings. Great exercise! I was inspired by triangles and Aztec looking patterns that seem to be popular lately.

Dave Brill recently designed an origami dolphin for Jamie Kelley. It's very nice. However, as Jamie & I have discussed on several occasions, it's very hard to truly capture the essence of a dolphin in origami. We discussed Dave's design yesterday and we were both surprised that he didn't use his favourite 30 & 60 degree angles. I wondered why he didn't try using an equilateral triangle as a starting shape.

Anyway, long story short, I took a stab at doing a dolphin out of an equilateral triangle. It's not a great design, but it's good enough to show to you all. :)

An old picture from the family photo drawer. I don't know where this was taken, but the "Purdue" pennant on the wall by the stairs makes me think this might be the inside of Purdue's "Triangle" fraternity house, of which my grandfather was a member, circa 1920.

This is the second bag I made with this design. The first was in different colors, and was made as a gift for a friend.

Triangle Fraternity at Purdue had a steak fry done by the junior class every year. This was our junior year. Front Row: Gale Maupin, Fred Fisher, Tom Gillespie, Brian Bennett, Al MacMillan. Back Row: Matt McManaman, Doug Davidson, Kevin Leahy, Rick Rezek, Dale Borths. Very Back: Rob Adams. Not shown: Leon McKinney and Bill Bean. This is one of my favorite photos from college days. Every one of the guys in my class, shown or not shown, is top-shelf.

Oh how I love those ears.

The basis for this set of four intersecting triangles is a cuboctahedron. I also added 3 grey Geomag rods at the basis for support.

Starting off with hard themes this year. Luckily my son was getting ready to eat these Doritos and I knew I had my picture! Added a little bokeh texture to give it a festive feeling.
