This one is growing a bit more slowly, but still fun. Haven't decided on the final size and edge design, but expect it to end up approximately 3'x5'. Oh, and hope I can find more of this yarn! Only have enough for about 8 more hexagons...
1) I swore I wouldn't start any new projects until I finished the old ones.
2) I swore I'd never do half-square-triangles again.
3) So how is it that I just spent several hours cutting all these half-rectangle triangles? Do I not listen to myself?
The Summer Triangle or Summer Triangle is an asterism (or seudoconstelación) drawing an imaginary triangle in the northern hemisphere of the celestial sphere, its vertices are Altair, Deneb and Vega star, and connects Aquila, Cygnus and Lyra constellations repectivamente . The asterism was laid in the late twenties by astronomer Thomas Owald who referred to these stars as the "Great Triangle" and in 1934 was renamed the Triangle verano.Se located over northern latitudes during the middle summer months, but you can also be seen during spring very early in the morning. In autumn the triangle is visible in the afternoon until November. From the southern hemisphere is reversed and near the horizon during the winter months.

The cut off line going to the left is where the southern leg of the turning triangle used to be. The northern leg was removed in 1971, the southern leg remained for a number of years to access a grain shed

Czech seed beads PRECIOSA Triangles in the shape of a triangle.
PRECIOSA Triangles are made by cutting triangular or twisted triangular glass tubes with a round or triangular hole.
In addition to the existing PRECIOSA Triangle seed bead, we now present the new PRECIOSA Triangle Q-Cut which is manufactured using new Quality Cut production technology. The quality cutting of the tubes guarantees that these seed beads have greater precision and shape and dimensional stability.
We offer standard PRECIOSA Triangles in six sizes: the smallest is 2.5 x 2.5 mm and the largest is 10 x 5 mm. Twisted PRECIOSA Triangles are available in size 5 x 2.5 mm.
The PRECIOSA Triangle-Extra is a special type of these seed beads. It is only made in one size (3.5 x 3.5 mm) and it is exceptional, because it has a rounder shape than a regular triangle.
Czech PRECIOSA Triangles have slightly rounded edges thanks to their advanced technological processing.

Also along Route 66, we have this relic from a time long gone; the Triangle Motel. It got it's name from being on the corner E Amarillo & Triangle.
Two things here, first, the rest of the place looks in the same condition as the sign itself. (as you'll see in a couple more shots from the place) Second, and maybe more amazing, the place is still open!

I wrote a Processing applet to recursively cut the image into progressively smaller triangles until either the triangles were tiny or the color variation in the triangle was below a chosen threshold. Added black border to make the triangles more visible.
This example uses slightly more uniform triangle shapes.
I made this for my color theory class - a gradation of purples..over 325 triangles. the two rings are from a shower curtain, they're wrapped in copper wire
The face was made with Affinity Designer by Serif (Windows version), and made into a "page" with items from CraftArtist. The techniques are exactly same for creating the (mainly) triangles for the portrait whether in Affinity Designer of CraftArtist.
