I'd never seen an osprey up close, only from a distance. Until this one flew to a tree right by me with a fish. This was when it landed in the tree. The blood on the raptor came from the fish. Words cannot express how thrilled I was.

In March I had an opportunity to visit my sister in Victoria, Texas. While visiting we toured many areas where I was able to get a photo shoot in. On this day we stayed in Victoria and traveled to the outskirts where this lazy river was flowing. Right on that river bank was a bar and grill where we relaxed with a Martini and shrimp. Such a nice view from their outdoor deck! Some of the views are abstract with many reflections. I will be uploading each place separately as I get them ready to view. Green Heron (Butorides veriscens). The habitat of the green heron is small wetlands in low-lying areas. The species is most conspicuous during dusk and dawn, and if anything these birds are nocturnal rather than diurnal, preferring to retreat to sheltered areas in daytime.Green herons are one of the few species of animal known to use tools. In particular, they commonly use bread crusts, insects, or other items as bait. The bait is dropped onto the surface of a body of water in order to lure fish. When a fish takes the bait, the green heron will then grab and eat the fish. Wildwood Lake - Wildwood Nature Preserve, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Isn't she lovely? She had just finished eating at a feeder and was relaxing in a tree. It was a bit chilly so she is all fluffed up.

"Hummingbird - Female Ruby-throated Wingspread" by Patti Deters. This cute little female hummingbird (Archilochus colubris) was flitting around the arborvitae tree, then perching for a few minutes before shaking herself and stretching her wings as you can see here. She would twist her tiny head and point her beak up into the air. It was early in the morning and perhaps she had just woken up and was flexing her wings to get ready for the day. Did you know that a group of hummers is called a charm? How "charming" is that?! If you like this nature photograph, please see more (birds, outdoor, more) at patti-deters.pixels.com/featured/hummingbird-female-ruby-....

Sanibel is a city in Lee County, Florida, United States, on Sanibel Island. The population was 6,469 at the 2010 census, with an estimated 2012 population of 6,741. It is part of the Cape Coral–Fort Myers Metropolitan Statistical Area. Sanibel is a barrier island – a collection of sand on the leeward side of the more solid coral-rock of Pine Island.
The city incorporates the entire island, with most of the city proper at the east end of the island. After the Sanibel causeway was built to replace the ferry in May 1963, the residents asserted control over development by establishing the Sanibel Comprehensive Land Use Plan in 1974 helping to maintain a balance between development and preservation of the island's ecology. A new, higher bridge, permitting passage without a bascule bridge (drawbridge) of tall boats and sailboats, was completed in late 2007.
Thanks to easy causeway access, Sanibel is a popular tourist destination known for its shell beaches and wildlife refuges. More than half of the island is made up of wildlife refuges, the largest being J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge. The Island hosts the Sanibel Historical Village and a variety of other museums and theaters, as well as many non-profit organizations like the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation, the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, and the Sanibel Sea School. In August 2004, Hurricane Charley hit the island causing mandatory evacuation for the residents and resulting in the most storm damage to the island in 44 years.
I went to another grandchild birthday party on Saturday. As usual, took my camera and walked around their yard in the heat of the day to see if anything alive was out there. In a back corner of the side of the house was a small Mimosa/Persian Silk Tree. Right above my head was a cicada so took some shots of it. Turned out to be my 2nd time to find this particular species & my best shots ever. Had no idea it had such beautiful eyes. Love the deep green veins on the wings too.

Soon...first day of spring in VT was 42. There's still a little wait for the nice weather. Snow showers right now, and 19 degrees tomorrow. Sigh.
People, places, and things. Things you miss. Things that tug at your heart. Sometimes acutely. Like Hawaiian sunsets. And Flickr friends.
This was shot at Princeville, on the north shore of Kauai, one of my most favorite magical spots on the planet. I waited and waited to capture this shot. And Hawaiian sunsets never disappoint.
For YOU.
May you know that you will stay in my heart, no matter how far I may travel.
Blessings,
Sheree
(Note to my Flickr friends: I am off in a couple of days to cross the big pond (the Atlantic) and tour around the UK. Time to see some of my Flickr buddies over there, like Rich and his wife Gill. My time on Flickr will be sporadic at that time. And I will miss my friends very much.)
