This was taken on a recent short trip to Joshua Tree to celebrate the new full frame 6D. In this image I was dangerously close to the jumping cholla. I was trying to use the focus to bring attention to the spines on the cholla.
This is a 2 shot panorama, stitched in photoshop. Tough with the distortion form the 20mm, needed some tweaks.
Although not the best producer of sap, you can see that this silver maple has been tapped. The sugaring season is effectively over, though, as the leaf buds have now appeared.

Been traveling around the world the past few months. After a pit stop home i headed out to Joshua Tree for a few days.

On a previous image: www.flickr.com/photos/pjgrillo/11220440416/ the perspective goes inward to one central point. On this image, the vanishing points go opposite directions causing a “visual tension” effect, with the eye not sure which direction to follow.
