The 5th Annual Sunol Glen Trashion Show is an event culminating a variety of week-long environmental activities hosted during Earth Week, April 28-May 2. The goal of this extremely popular event is to get students at this Bay Area K-8th Grade school thinking differently about waste in order to create positive behavior change.

Ebeye has a population of 15,000 people living on about .13 square miles of land (less than a mile long and a few hundred meters wide), making it the fifth most densely populated island in the world. Space is limited. But this is probably the world's most beautiful location for a landfill.
Found these things in the trash wednesday. Almost got runover by a truck getting the chap mei tower. The driver was stressed out for finding a chipped dead cat. Luckily still in one piece. Found the cool food stuff, anarchy history book and globe in the dumbster at work : ]

En este chiquito espacio, la celula madre, se he instalado una artista trashnologista que se materializo en Buenos Aires Trash City en 2004. Haciendo chic lo que los demas descartan, trashformando su medio ambiente, ella esta dando vida a cosas rotas y tiradas tratando de crear de estos escombros algo deseable. Ella cree que esto es un proceso que augmenta la consciencia del cambio necesario para un futuro digno para nuestros hijos.
“Se habla mucho del consumo, se habla mucho. Se hace poco. Nadie quiere menos, y todos mas. Si se puede generar un cambio en Buenos Aires, una de las metropolis mas feroz de esta tierra, se puede hacer la trashformacion necesario para preservar nuestro habitat, se puede escapar esta vision apocalyptica y vivir una vida feliz con pocos recursos. Mis trasheaciones no buscan a mostrarnos nuestra inadecuacia de hacer un cambio, solo muestran esta realidad alternativa, una realidad feliz en cual convivimos con escombros como objetos de deseo, porque se han trashformado en algo deseable gracias a nuestra fantasia, nuestro deseo de vivir en otra manera. Nos enamigariamos con lo que descartan los demas. En mil anios, los archeologos van a encontrar cepillos de inodores y vasos de plastico y van a tratar de explicar nuestra sociedad a base de estos artefactos. Los trashnologos ya pueden ver este futuro, conviven con el, y gracias a esta vision alternativa, abren un camino a ver otra realidad, una en cual se recicla, se trashforma, se renueve.”

The garbage removal people are striking in Toronto.
Currently *private* trash removal companies (which businesses are paying for out of their own pockets, on top of the taxes and fees they already pay for this service) are picking up the trash and dumping it into PUBLIC SWIMING POOLS while the city workers are walking around taping up trash cans with plastic.
