This old work horse has come to rest and is slowly dying in the field. Amazing how the two small front wheels have gone away yet the large rear tires still remain.
This is a Massey Harris not Ferguson - a more rare find! One for my Canadian friends.

In the glow of a brand-new year,
Let courage rise and silence fear.
Live each moment, bold and free,
Write your story, let it be.
Dance through life with hearts alight,
Chase your dreams into the night.
For every scar, a tale to tell,
A path to hope, where strength will dwell.
May the days ahead be bright,
Filled with love, and endless light.
In the spirit of "The Nights," stay true,
This year’s adventure waits for you.

Halloween. An excellent excuse to visit the horror genre.
My dear artistic wife owns a small wooden hand with posable fingers. It's probably something used by artists to assist them in recreating the human form but we use it as an ornament. We also own a lamp featuring an unusual driftwood shade which we've put on a shelf beside a wall to provide diffuse illumination to the room. The shade has a couple of gaps, one of which is just large enough to allow the hand to be posed as shown, its fingers positioned not simply to annoy dear wife for a change. Our usefully orange painted wall, viewed through the gap with the lamp turned on, provided an appropriate hellfire effect. Your imagination does the rest, I hope.
The photo was taken using an 18-55mm zoom lens at f22 with a 12mm extension tube and silver foil used as a hand-held reflector. Photoshop was used to lift the shadows a little to reduce silhouetting and to reveal some texture within the wood. Further tweaks to contrast, the orange and yellow colour channels, some dodging on a couple of fingernails, some added grain and vignette, and a larger-than-the-photo black background layer to provide a simple black border, complete the image.

Persephone shots. Only edits to the lips and teeth because I wanted a darker hue and for there to not be lipstick on my teeth.

You know, I truly have no idea how these leaves get between the two layers of chicken wire... but they do. And lovely and flat. The One drop of water is a bonus! :-)

Airone rosso (Ardea purpurea) intrappolato tra le reti di protezione. Poi si è subito liberato ed è volato via.
Purple heron (Ardea purpurea) trapped between protective nets. He then quickly broke free and flew away.

Inspired by Tanjeer Bhai's Dew Drops On Spider Web. I was in my host family's place today, so after seeing Tanjeer bhai's spider web picture, I figured I should shoot some spiders too! So out I went with my all knowing ten year old host sister, Christiana. She spotted this spider web within a few seconds, and we tried sprinkling some water on the web to mimic dew drops (with miserable outcome). The water just would not stick on the web (next time I will try some viscous liquid!). Anyway, this is a "non dew drop" spider web picture, and Miss S. Pider seems to be engrossed building her elaborate trap!
Every time I walk by here, I think there must be a way to make an interesting image. This time, the snow stripes helped me out.

Snow day photoshoot. I got the mirror for free at a flea market, it's the best thing I've ever gotten free.

I have had this image for ages on my hard drive. This is a bunch of traps I had in my previous neighbourhood. The disorder and colours attracted me and I shot many shots of this, never quite happy with the result.
This is as close to what I wanted to end up with....
Today I trapped cat #1 ...he's at the vet tonight and will have his plumbing removed tomorrow. After a couple days of rest he'll be taken back to his feline family.
Update: 12/3/09
He was returned to his "home" at 5:30 am.......now his hormones will dissipate and he won't be impregnating the poor female cats in this colony any more. I noticed there are at least four more males to trap.
All I See is You
I want to be your fragrant musk,
I want to be that soft breeze that gently touches your soul,
I want to be that fire, which enflames your heart,
I want to bathe in the ocean of your passions,
And feel the caresses of the waves of your love,
I eat, I drink, I sleep you,
These words resonate in me,
“Blessed be thou forever”,
God above- only knows what I desire,
I am sinking -yes I am sinking
Into that labyrinth of love.
I am now a captive of your spell,
My reasoning is blocked,
My sanity stolen,
My normal life seems so out of reach,
You surround me by your powerful aroma of musk,
You so far away across the ocean,
Yet that asian perfume so powerful,
Draws me to you,
My heart is trapped by your love,
And when the shades of twilight close the day,
All I see is you! ! ! -you! ! ! -you! ! ! .
