Hollyhocks are in the garden across the street from our home. This was taken after a brief shower the other evening. The petals of the flower were almost translucent and looked very fragile.

About Semuc Champey, Guatemala

Semuc Champey is a natural monument in the department of Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, near the Q'eqchi' Maya town of Lanquín. It consists of a natural 300 m limestone bridge, under which passes the Cahabón River. Atop the bridge is a series of stepped, turquoise pools, a popular swimming attraction. Although it can be difficult to get to, Semuc is becoming more and more popular with travelers.

Some hatched eggs on the tip of a leaf of a native shrub. I am guessing shieldbugs? They leave such translucent and pretty looking cases! [Lower Blue Mountains, NSW].

Nychos

The cold pool at Wilbur Hot Springs. It used to contain mineral water, but the health department now says you have to see the bottom, so it's got regular water. Since the water was 47 degrees F (during the daytime) while we were there, I saw nobody swimming. The good news is that since fewer people were out, I could take pictures w/o bothering anyone.

Vintage onion skin paper that's been scored, torn, folded, then stitched, each side of the card contains a free-floating hearts made of colored tissue, When held up to the light, the second heart reveals its little secret: "i love you."

The openings along the sides and bottom of the card are hand-stitched in alternating blue and golden yellow cotton thread, the torn edges have that wonderful, slightly brittle texture that's unique to onion skin typing paper.

Found during a day hike in Vohimana reserve, Madagascar.
