Looks can certainly be deceiving! When I rescued this Madison from the local flea market in 2019, I didn't know how much of a pain she'd be to fix up. Sure, her hair looked crusty and unkempt. She was naked and obviously in need of a thorough bath. But I underestimated just how much work I'd need to put into this doll just to make her appearance semi acceptable. Something that you may be able to see in this collage is the slightly burned bits of her hair entangled in the matts. I didn't see or feel the burned portions of her hair until after the first boil wash session. Burned hair will get very hard and crispy. It also has a very wiggly appearance, which in effect makes the doll's hair look less shiny overall. This is when I knew I had hit a bump in the road. But I was determined to save Miss Madison. I will say, she looks gorgeous in this "before" photo, even though she was squalid (she even smelled rather funky)!

These were taken while i was helping my brother weld in our backyard, thought it was perfect for the challenge.

Natural features in the foreground rocks made good leading lines and the color contrast between the foreground rock and the background rocks emphasized the transformation of the desert rocks by the golden hour sunset light.

Detail of a sculpture titled Transformation by Faustino Aizkorbe on the campus of Purdue University.

I was at Purdue for the past few days, and managed to get out this morning to take some photos before my flight. This picture is actually rotated to the right 90 degrees. The sun was rising and the lighter, goldenish areas are where the sun was striking the sculpture. The whitish region is some kind of patina. The next photo is another detailed shot of the sculpture.

There is no processing at all on this photo. I think I've been really overprocessing my images lately. The last series from the Delaware & Raritan Canal are an example, that I wasn't happy with at all, but I threw them up here anyhow. But, I didn't want to spend too much time on them.

Oh, and by the way, between work and some travelling I'm doing, this is probably it for a couple of weeks. Sorry if I don't get to all of your photos. I know I'm way behind, and will probably never catch up.

The only thing I did to this image was edit out a very small triangle where the sky was showing through. Can you spot where that was?

Gabriel Bonaducci could feel something inside him change, he had been waiting for this for so long but he didn't count on the transformation to be so painful. A small price to pay for immortality, he said.

It is silly

To refuse the tasks of time

And, overlooking our lives,

Cry - "Miserable wicked me,

How interesting I am."

We would rather be ruined than changed,

We would rather die in dread

Than climb the cross of the moment

And let our illusions die.

~ From W.H. Auden's The Age Of Anxiety

I love how the world begins to transform after the rain arrives. The fields, trees and sky are a constant source of changing forms and hues. Catching these colors in droplets has been my obsession this week and I'm sure will be for weeks to come. Have I mentioned lately how happy I am to have the rain back? Well, I am. ... And, pumpkin lattes are back too. I'm sure there will be pictures of them as well very soon.

Usually when we go to Butterfly Hollow at the zoo we only see the butterflies. On this trip we found a chrysalis/pupa and a bunch of monarch caterpillars.

At BH, they have fairy houses throughout the bushes and plants…it's fun to watch Kristen go investigate each one. When she was younger she actually looked for fairies but now she just admires the creative workmanship of each house.

Walibi Holland

Walibi Holland (previously called Flevohof, Walibi Flevo, Six Flags Holland and Walibi World) is a theme park in Biddinghuizen, The Netherlands.

Attractions include the Speed of Sound, El Condor, Xpress, Goliath and Robin Hood roller coasters.

The adjacent associated event grounds has been the location of large music festivals.

In 1971, the park was opened under the name 'Flevohof'. It was an educational themepark themed after agriculture and farming. Having struggled to compete with more modern family attractions, Flevohof went bankrupt in 1993, and was subsequently purchased by the Walibi Group that autumn, who redeveloped the site as an amusement park. After a major winter-long programme of reconstruction the park reopened as Walibi Flevo on 7 May 1994, featuring the world's first Vekoma suspended looping coaster (SLC), El Condor. The park also adopted the wallaby mascot of its sister park, Walibi Wavre in Belgium. (The name 'Walibi', incidentally, is derived from the first two letters of three towns in Belgium put together to form a single word: Wavre - Limal - Bierges).

The Walibi parks, including Bellewaerde in Belgium, were purchased by Premier Parks Inc. in 1998, who subsequently overhauled the Flevo park, removing the 'Walibi' branding and building 30 new attractions as part of its transformation into Six Flags Holland in 2000. Six Flags's nominal expansion into Europe saw a similar refurbishment of the Belgian Walibi theme park, which was renamed to Six Flags Belgium. Both parks benefiting from the group's rights to use Warner Brothers characters within them, leading to the creation of a Looney Tunes-themed area and a powered-launch coaster themed around popular comic figure Superman, later changed to the Xpress.

In 2004, Six Flags Holland and its sister parks were purchased by financiers Palamon Capital Partners, who grouped the attractions under the name "StarParks". The park reverted to Walibi branding in 2005; numerous attractions having been rebranded as the sale of the parks also meant the loss of any references to Looney Tunes and DC Comics characters rights.

In the second half of 2006, the parks were sold for the second time in as many years to the French group Grévin & Cie (Compagnie des Alpes), most notably the operators of the French themed resort Parc Astérix, who also purchased two other Dutch attractions - the Dolfinarium Harderwijk and Avonturenpark Hellendoorn. In 2011 the park was renamed as Walibi Holland, which introduced new mascots.

The adjacent associated event grounds were originally developed with Scouting Nederland for the EuroJam 1994 and the 18th World Scout Jamboree in 1995. It is or has been the location of many festivals like the Lowlands music festival and the Defqon.1 music festival .
