Green Lake
Green Lake is the largest and most northerly lake in the Resort Municipality of Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. It is the source of the Green River, a tributary of the Lillooet River, and is fed by the River of Golden Dreams, which issues from Alta Lake, which is at the height of land dividing the Green River drainage from that of the Cheakamus River to the south, which is a tributary of the Squamish River. Also feeding Green Lake are Fitzsimmons Creek, which originates in the valley above Whistler Village between Blackcomb and Whistler Mountains, and Rainbow Creek, which descends from Rainbow Mountain via the Alpine Meadows subdivision.
Green Lake is 633 m in elevation, approximately 1.2 km in length, and averages about 650 m in width—with an area in the range of 2.2 km².
Green Lake also serves as Whistler Airport (airport code YWS), a waterdrome.

This lake at Dauset Trails Nature Center has a shaded, shallow corner that is overgrown with these wildflowers. It was really quite beautiful as the sun's rays peeked through the overhead trees, making it look tranquil and picturesque.

While watching the sun set into the ocean, a little voice said "turn around". Indeed with dead flat calm conditions the setting sun lit up the stacked clouds over the island and the golden light reflected on the turquoise-clear water. While I tend to be anti-buildings in my landscapes, the huts gave it a nice tropical feel.
Canadian Gulf Islands this morning while picking up on a charter flight for Seattle. It was a true pleasure to fly today after all the poor weather lately.
A few days ago I went out on a calm but hazy/gloomy day, to make some pictures in my direct neighbourhood. This picture is taken from a wooden bridge.

Developed at home with Cinestill C-41 Colour Simplified Developer.
I love the colours this long expired film is giving me.
I reduced the developing-time slightly.
a good while after the sun had gone down, I went back to the river to catch the light on the water. Threw a little stone in to 'catch a ripple" - is that cheating? I don't think so, surely artistic licence?!!

Southern view from Little Stony Point of the Hudson Highlands in Cold Spring, NY.
A beautifully tranquil Hudson River became the perfect opportunity to create balance and harmony using reflections.
Sunlight dances on the waves so bright,
A path unwinds by water's gleam,
Warmth bathes the stones in golden light,
A tranquil stroll, a waking dream.

*explore march 7, 2008. thank you very much to all of you who made it so.* this, if i am not mistaken, was taken in the morning around nine am in 2006. when i got up i was expecting it to be sunny sunshine all around. but too bad, it was cloudy, a bit humid and the lighting was really bad. but the best thing this place had was peace and quiet. i wouldn't mind going there again. hopefully soon...
I have uploaded this shot to illustrate how different the countryside around Pune looks during different seasons.Both this and my earler upload were taken on the same drive (although not the exact same location) but during different seasons of the year.My previous upload was taken during the Monsoons in the month of July and this shot was taken most probably in December. Still beautiful but nowhere as lush and green as the earlier image.:-)

We have two families staying with us tonight. One Dutch, one German, and each had had their national flag raised on our flagpole for their arrival. Something about the German flag didn't seem right when it was first raised with the red band uppermost. Fortunately I realised my error before they arrived and put the flag the other way up. Next up were the Dutch, red or blue uppermost? I googled it and made sure that, opposite to the German flag, red goes uppermost.
But both families had wandered down to the Loch Shiel jetty (the Germans meeting a 12 point stag on the way) and both had told me how fantastically tranquil a spot it is (despite a tiny number of irritating midges), and they love it. Completely understanding why people like me come here. Loch Shiel easily trumps Loch Lomond or Loch Ness and must be one of the most special lochs in Scotland. It has so much history being the scene for Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobite Rebellion and all that, Viking battles and the Quickening scenes from Highlander, the movie. In this the loch views are at Glenfinnan, the swordfights in the ancient Caledonian forest around Ariundle, the running scene on the beaches towards Arisaig...and of course the mountain scenes are in Skye......and the village scenes are just like it is in Acharacle today!
Acharacle truly is a place of surprises. (There really aren't many midges this year)
