This is Catch Photo #54...a game I'm playing with My husband Darek (aka blankspace321).We each take turns adding one thing to the photo. We limit ourselves to a total of 10 additions. This is the 7th of my 10.

This is what a bike gang looks like ;)

This is Eden's first bicycle--previously owned by her friend William. Already it's a form of transportation for her--she gets around on it quicker than on foot. This is the main plaza of Tompkins Square Park, looking autumnal.

these two rings? these were his present to me today. these are his gifts for christmas, my birthday, and our anniversary. they're lovely, and they prove he listens. when i talk about engagement rings, i always say i want a channel set band with emerald cut small diamonds instead of the traditional ice-skating rink diamond. i do like solitaires, it's just... i like stackable rings too. i want the same ring but with sapphires instead of diamonds for my wedding ring because of what they stand for: truth, serenity, and faithfulness.

these rings? they're like training wheels for my big girl bike.

at least that is what she tells me...

A red-letter day: Sammy's first bicycle!

Lulu masters the bicycle. That expression says it all. A defining moment of childhood. The sense of pride and accomplishment.

She came at it a bit later than her brother. She learns different and at a different pace. We took it easy. No pressure. Training wheels were preferred to a balance bike. Then... up with the training wheels, a bit at a time, until she started to keep the bike upright naturally on her own. Now, she is mobile. Wobbly, sure, but mastering control.

Bless the moms and dads who end up carrying scooters, bike, trikes and "cars" when their little ones get tired of pushing, kicking and pedaling.

(I am alternating older camera photos with COVID-era phone shots. It's nice to see photos of people, without masks, at ease with other people and their surroundings.)

Strangely there was no police escort which meant running through red lights, blocking bus lanes, picking noses and just standing around instead of cycling.

It was never explained to me how training wheels on a bike are supposed to work. This is a little story about riding my bike with training wheels and taking them off.

Installing brakes is fashionable. This bike had brakes but they were from the twenties and were partly destroyed because of me sticking my mallet under the bike's front wheel during a game.

My boy riding his new big boy bike he's eager to take the training wheels off..

SOOC! I'm so proud of this photo the color is so vibrant :)

Isabelle's training wheels are a bit off kilter... Oh well it will help her with her balance that is for sure...

Now THAT'S a whistle!

After these pictures I took off, took a shower, went to bed and read some science fiction. In the morning I felt better than expected.

just like his bro...

Enjoy the weekend!! : )

The training wheels were taking enough load off his rear tire that he couldn't get traction to make it up the hill himself. He just sat and spun spun spun. Brother came to help, energetically. Whoosh, up they went together.

RESTORED BY: Kay A. (New York, NY) ||| FAMILY: "Flo" ||| LOCATION: Staten Island, NY

Taken on a rainy sunday morning. Nobody was out, except for this family. Mom and dad where teaching their kid to ride a bike without training wheels. They were all so excited and I found it so adorable that nothing, not even the cold, miserable weather, could stop them. You can see mom riding besides her child with the training wheels in hand :)

Artsy fartsy picture I took. I must admit I had had a couple of drinks during the evening and sometimes I had trouble focusing the camera. Next time I am drunk, cycling and pointing my camera at girls' buttocks I will switch the camera on Auto.
