I loved this whimsical sculpture that I found in Sedona, Arizona. One of the true joys of childhood—learning to ride a bike, with or without training wheels!

This is one of the images I made for my latest video which I linked below. I've been learning video editing for the last year or so and I am experimenting more and more with the video editing and also the screenshots that I get from them... great fun. This is a cover of Melanie Martinez "Training Wheels" by Grace VanderWaal. No fancy production work here just a young teenager with a ukulele & a smartphone streaming live on Tik Tok. Just like you did when you were growing up!

This photo is dedicated to Fred Dean, he would have loved to enjoy photographing this railcar, especially after it made its way back to his home of Midleton, Cork. Your friendship is missed.

It was very soupy before work today; and knowing that once I walked into the office I wouldn't get a chance to escape and enjoy the thick fog, I snapped a couple pictures this morning before heading off to the world of adulthood and responsibility.

It's not my favourite fog shot, but with limited time it was the best I could do. I left my camera at home too, a last minute and rare decision so I was pretty confident that today would be a photo of the fog... or I was just being lazy. One of the two!

Anyway, hope everyone has had a good day.

Taken during this summer's vacation to Silver Lake. Boy does that kids sure has some bruised up legs.

One of the wonderful joys of childhood is the experience of learning to ride a bike. This young girl was struggling a bit as she repeatedly found herself in the grass. Each time, she would pause, dismount, and push her bike back onto the sidewalk, only to venture a bit further before wobbling back into the grass.

I observed her for around 10 minutes, and it was clear she had no intention of giving up. Meanwhile, Mom and Dad sat just a few feet away at a picnic table, engrossed in their mobile phones. Perhaps they were sharing pictures of her on Facebook.

Ok, so he wasn't really going that fast, but I tried to make him look like it.

Granny Rita resurected an old bicycle from the back of the garage, fitted training wheels and presented it to a beaming Karl...who quickly mastered the contraption. Here he is showing me his stuff outside Granny Joan's place in Lynnwood Manor, Pretoria, Guateng, South Africa. Sunday, December 20, 2009.

An after dinner stroll with my son. Nice to see everyone firing up their sprinklers and greening everything up...

I'm assuming the boys down the street have graduated to a new and bigger mode of transportation. This one with the training wheels has been at the end of their driveway for a couple days now with no takers.

An oldie but a goodie. These Schwinn Pixie bicycles were first made in the 1960's. Such a classic look and they were built to last... in this case, two generations so far. :-)

Do you remember your first bike? I do... fun memories.

Our Daily Challenge ... balance.

We have been having really hot weather and today it was the hottest so far. I went out about 6.30 pm when it had cooled a bit and a lot of other people had the same idea. This Dad was taking his young son for a ride on the path along the river. The little fellow is still have a bit of trouble with his balance.

There's a saying, "The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys!" This shot seems to prove that. Price of the 12" BMX bicycle with training wheels, about $65; price of the Dodge Viper ACR, in excess of $100,000.

I'm replacing my scavenger hunt bicycle shot with this one.

Seems this is in Explore now, too. #334, 7-20-2014.

Only way to re-learn how to ride a bike is for some really good set of training wheels!

My Twitter.

He's learning to ride his bike with training wheels. He fell on Saturday and received his first real booboo. Some blood, a few bruises, many tears, Neosporin and multiple bandaids later he considered himself a "tough guy." He's my fearful one, so it was a joy to see him get back on that bike with a smile on his face.
