Been rolling in dirt, pocket full of bugs, shoe's untied, helmet's loose, arm's scratched, and he's got a little bit of a shiner under his eye.
He's probably on his way to doing a sweet jump over one of the dogs, but in the end...he'll be just fine.

The We're Here! gang is showing motion in still shots today. I decided to see if I could accomplish this on the iPhone. What I wound up doing was shooting in the "live" mode, replaying the action, and taking a screen capture of the moving picture.
Jeff hasn't posted yet. What do you want to bet he does "Motion on Stilts"?

Santa delivered a new bike for my son, Eli. So today was the inaugural run and boy was he excited. I'm not sure who had more fun, Eli or myself? :) I loved riding bikes as a kid, BMX of course. :) I was constantly ramping everything in sight and there's no doubt in my mind Eli will too.
Eli had the typical struggle figuring out the pedals but after little bit he was well on his way. I'm guessing the training wheels will be off soon.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature got the best of us as it was not much above freezing so we had to quit early. Bummer! Oh well, more fun to be had tomorrow. :) See you then.
Thanks for viewing.

We loosed the chains yesterday from my 5-year-old son. This was long overdue, as he's been using the training wheels as nothing but kickstands all spring.
This has been a big week for him. He started soccer practice on Saturday, then lost his first two teeth earlier this week, and now no more training wheels. Tomorrow he'll probably be graduating already. I'm enjoying this while I can.
Day 219 of 365: "Learning to Ride"
We needed her to have one more growth spurt, before she would really fit on the bike. She had it, so away we go.
Today, not only did I have to bring Jem's earrings back to life, but I also had to put upgraded training wheels on the bike our friends gave us for K before they moved.
She's taking to it pretty quickly!

he really figured out pedaling today, to the point where he can ride around in circles in the driveway unassisted.

It was not a white Christmas, but it was perfect for bike riding lessons on our front lawn which has a slight slope. She was a fast learner and anxious for the training wheels to be removed.

Who would guess this photo was taken about 25 years ago? I look like a little hipster in the making.
Ah, the joy of childhood, when a kid gets a new bike. My grandson was all smiles, recently.
Nikon D90, minimal editing.
Ok, I know I didn't have a helmet on...
Probably taken by my Mom, circa 1972, with her Kodak 110 camera.
I'm seen here riding my Schwinn bicycle in the driveway of our house on Kaipapau Loop, Hauula, Oahu. It was a 2nd Birthday present, and I apparently rode the bike a lot.
My Mom remembers that it was HEAVY, and rusted in the salty air. My sister was it's next owner.
My parents had no idea of what they started...
