Steam Locomotive -#788 "Tusker" getting filled-up with water at the Darjeeling train station (India)

The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, locally known as the "Toy Train", is a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge railway that runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling (India). It is still operated by vintage British-built B Class steam locomotives. Operations between Siliguri and Kurseong have been temporarily suspended since 2010 following a Landslide at Tindharia (view photos of the landslide).

BN F3A 9752 (ex-SPS 802, to BN 972551L, to BN 9752, to BN 712) and an E-unit are at Vancouver, Washington on December 21, 1970. Though the unit has been renumbered it still isn't carrying BN reporting marks anywhere yet. This unit is preserved as SP&S 802 at Stevenson, Washington today.
BNSF Dash 9-44CW 4523 & CSX ES44AH 878 are power on a westbound double stack recently arrived in Helena, Montana on May 17, 2014.

MRL SD70ACes 4312, 4315, 4305 & 4311 are mid-train helpers on a westbound unit coal train rolling downhill at West Blossburg, Montana on September 3, 2014. The nice, friendly crew gave me a wave and played a few semi-musical notes on the horn as the rolled past.

Sometime in the Spring of 1973 Dad shot this scene at the L&N roundhouse in Etowah, TN. The long line to the right is L&N C420 1317 (ex-TC 401), C&O GP30s 3036, 3026 (to GP30M 3026, to CSX 4220) & 3005 and SCL GP40 1545 (ex-SAL 630, to SBD 6700, to CSX 6700). In the middle is L&N C420 1314 and a couple others and on the left is an L&N ALCo end-cab switcher.

On January 6, 1979 Dad found Frisco GP35 711 sandwiched between two Seaboard Coast Line geeps in Atlanta, Georgia. This unit would become Burlington Northern 2561 and was retired in September 1986.

In the late 70s and early 80s it was fairly common to find a number of Southern Pacific and Canadian National units on the L&N. Here a U30C and a big ALCo C630 haul a northbound string of empty coal hoppers through Morley, TN on a cold February day in 1979.

On December 10, 1998 Dad shot BNSF Dash 9-44CW 4874 on the point of a westbound train at Williston, ND. BNSF took delivery of several new Dash 9s in late '98/early '99 that were in rudimentary H1 paint, but with no striping, logos or heralds. 4874 wore this bare-bones paint job until at least March 2000 before finally getting repainted in full H2 paint.

This is the same unit as THIS ONE, only a few years later. CSX actually used all four F-units on regular service pulling Road-Railer trains from Cincinnati, OH to Atlanta, GA between the Spring and Fall of 1988, making them the last F-units to power regular service freight trains for a Class-1 railroad in the United States.
CSX FP7A 118 is ex-SBD 118, xx-SBD 200, nee-CRR 200, to CSX 418, to WVC 67. Not sure which booster is with it, but odds are it is F7B 119 (ex-SBD 119, xx-SBD 250, xxx-CRR 250, xxxx-L&N 723, xxxxx-L&N 1919, nee-NC&StL 919).

On November 17, 2014, Dad shot FURX GP38-2 5557 (ex-NS 5557, xx-NS GP38AC 4147, nee-N&W 4147) & a CSX geep at South Etowah, Tennessee, leading 59 gondolas loaded with iron ore-laden tailings from the old Copperhill copper mines. The tailings are headed north to a steel mill in Wisconsin.
